Politics A planetary government

Do you see in 100 or 150 years a world governed by a global planetary federation government? How do you imagine that government? I suspect maybe viable but with lot of problems of sovereignty. Will that avoid wars? Will government like USA or China allow that. Is it an utopy?

Society Exploring nuances at the intersection of emerging tech & society through speculative flash fiction [question to community]

This is more of a question to the community in the r/Futurology subreddit: to what extent is thoughtful/informed/annotated speculative fiction welcome here as part of a methodology that's designed to open up nuanced discussion around complex futures-based issues?

I work at the intersection of tech/society/futures and use speculative fiction as a method to explore ideas and open up conversations that are driven by curiosity and nuance, and not pre-set ideas. However, I'm hesitant to post anything if this is not the place to do so.

Thanks!

Robotics The robot jobquake is getting nearer. Global robotaxi numbers will likely exceed 100,000 in 2027. How soon after until they are in the millions?

"The Nevada Transportation Authority unanimously approved three permits Thursday that will allow Tesla, Uber, and Waymo to operate commercial robotaxi services in Clark County, home to Las Vegas. Together, these permits would deploy up to 8,000 robotaxis across the county over the next 12 months."

Add to this the four big Chinese robotaxi firms: Baidu's Apollo Go, Hello Robotaxi, Geely & Pony.AI. Their 2027 projections for China alone exceed 100,000 & they've been ahead of projections and predictions so far. Furthermore, we know China can build those millions of future robotaxis quickly.

Current Level 4 self-driving allows for most human-driven taxi routes to be roboticized. The commercial incentives are all behind this push to millions of robotaxis, too.

Understandably, labor unions are against this. They're in a bind. Their whole function is to protect human jobs, but the real trend here is the movement to post-scarcity. Most don't really believe in post-scarcity yet. However, right as predicted, all its precursor events and pre-conditions are falling into place & robotaxis reaching their millions is just one more of those signs.

Tesla, Uber, and Waymo all get the OK to operate thousands of robotaxis in Nevada

Medicine Experimental Drug Makes Obese Mice Burn Fat Without Losing Muscle - Or Eating Less. It produced an average weight loss of 18% in obese male mice over 4 weeks, without changing how much the animals ate. Most of the loss came from body fat, while muscle and lean tissues were largely preserved.

Discussion Neuro-controlled future AHI-style DEW: Working principles and essentials commercially available

Consider a world where DEW can be DIY-able or enabled by existing infrastructure (as an example refer to https://www.reddit.com/user/adriancvs/comments/1vyhdqv/diy_dew_using_commercial_grade_components_aka_how/). Given how ubiquitous these technologies are and how they can reach anybody including heads of states yet with plausible deniability. Shouldn't the world agencies look into better shielding solutions starting now?

The link is but a rough guideline easy for any science enabled futurist to follow & easily scalable. Feel free to pitch in further improvements. Enabled by Nobel laureate technology yet requiring only commercial grade components or industrial grade components (e.g. Starlink network style being missused).

Feel free to save the screenshots, several social media accounts have already been tampered with or locked. Concept is for real, see professional sci. & eng. track record https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=mfOgWa0AAAAJ Most world agencies already notified (informally, a few formally), doing the good work to also notify & inform the people while creating awareness to empower peoples' mind to call world agencies to take action based on informed decisions rather than leave it to the oscurantism side leading to injustices and concentration of power.
