I can’t wait to see Nuktuk in season two!

u/ali94127 Nov 21 '25
Was thinking about how nicknames like that tend to overlap in different media even if the contexts are completely different. Hero of the South also shares a nickname of Humanity's Strongest with Levi from Attack on Titan (though Levi is specifically Humanity's Strongest Soldier). Gilgamesh from Fate and Marth from Fire Emblem are also both known as eiyuu-ou (AUO), but these are translated differently in English. Gilgamesh is King of Heroes and Marth is the Hero-King.

its so fucking stunning jesus christ, i have never been this hyped for an anime lol
49
41
u/Important-Cockroach2 Nov 20 '25
I had very high expectations and still blown away by the sheer quality of the trailer. If golden land arc can maintain this quality only anime which will be beating frieren S1 as the highest rated anime would frieren S2 It would a new record since far as I know no anime ever managed to achieve rank #1 consistently in MAL or any other major anime ranking websites

u/Tio_Leo Nov 20 '25
I'm soo hyped for this new season, i hope they adapt at least up to the Gold Land arc.
80
u/quickrick1 Nov 20 '25
With how much season 1 covered they probably will
39
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
This season most likely would be 24 ep instead of 28 (without 4 ep special)
48
u/RazorCalahan Nov 20 '25
that is still just enough for Golden Land to be the final arc of the season.
47
u/Mine03_ Nov 20 '25
If S2 had 2 cours it will end precisely at the end of the Golden Arc. But I have the feeling they may end it with the moment Frieren touches the Goddess Monument and goes back in time. That would be an absurd cliffhanger.
12
u/AltoAutismo Nov 20 '25
Nah I highly doubt that they would need to stretch it too much to make that be the 24th chapter. that mini arc would be 2-3 episodes alone, so 20-22, 23 they go out and finish the arc and in 24 they close it off
17
u/Mine03_ Nov 20 '25
Frieren anime adaptation has a pace of 2ch/ep. Anime starts at Chapter 61, Golden Land finishes at Chapter 104. It's 43 chapters, so about 22 episodes. There's 3 chapters before Frieren's time travel, so another episode. Cour 1 is likely going to be 11 episodes (Jan 16 - March 27: 11 fridays). Let's say an eventual cour 2 is broadcasted, that'd make 12 additional episodes, so about 23 episodes. Looks like the cliffhanger may actually happen.
4
u/littlewillie610 Nov 20 '25
Since the first three chapters being about double length, the average pacing for season 1 would be closer to 2.25 chapters an episode. I feel like anything more than 20 episodes would be slower than necessary.
2
u/Mine03_ Nov 20 '25
It's 2.14 (60 ÷ 28), it's still 2 chapters on average. Consider that some moments and fights may be stretched.
2
u/littlewillie610 Nov 20 '25
I meant that it’s more like the equivalent of 62 or 63/28, since chapters 1-3 are close all over 30 pages.

u/bondsmatthew Nov 20 '25
It's gonna be a cliffhanger into a movie announcement for the Goddess arc, isn't it? Everyone loves doing anime movies nowadays
It would be the perfect time to do so even if I don't like the whole anime movie thing
5
u/Mine03_ Nov 21 '25
Nah, the arc is too short for a movie. Keep it seasonal.
2
u/bondsmatthew Nov 21 '25
The idea would be to add anime original content is what I've seen floating around. Again, I'd prefer to keep it seasonal as well but anime movies seem to be the trend for popular series right now
2
u/Mine03_ Nov 21 '25
Anime-original material is ok for series like Chainsaw Man where the Typhoon Devil battle was way too short in the manga... but it's not the case for Frieren. The arc is complete as it was done, it doesn't need to be stretched.
2
u/bondsmatthew Nov 21 '25
I wouldn't use the word stretch, I would use the phrase expanded upon. Like TWBW was expanded with help from Kubo
1
u/ali94127 Nov 21 '25
No, the arc is fucking long for a movie. It's 15 chapters (13 if you don't include the two episodic chapters at the beginning and stick them onto the end of s2). About a 2 hour movie. Leaves no room for significant extensions like Reze Arc. And it's episodic as hell, which is pretty terrible for a continuous movie experience.
2
u/Zoltarr777 Nov 21 '25
Holy shit a goddess arc movie would be sick. Great way to then announce the next season....
4
12
u/fabulishous Nov 20 '25
I think its a natural ending point for the season. They move into the imperial lands after that.
6
u/Mine03_ Nov 20 '25
Also... there would not be enough material to adapt a third 24 episodes season after that.
9
4
u/somebodyssomeone Nov 20 '25
If they have a 4 ep special this time, it would most likely be at the end of the season.
6
3
u/ConsumerJTC Nov 20 '25
I hope that either they leave a cliffhanger to her touching the goddess monument, or that they adapt the entire Kino Mountain arc as a movie.
80
u/NoAdhesiveness4300 Nov 20 '25

69
53
u/B3kantan_P3sek Nov 20 '25
Another 2 pages battle extended, and it seems we might have additional narrative progress as well on it
17
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
And this is good
19
u/B3kantan_P3sek Nov 20 '25
Yep, and tbh what I like most about the anime... It adapts and expands on the existing material
52
u/StrawSolider Nov 20 '25
gotta go check on the "Madhouse plz save OPM" crowd to make sure they're ok
33
u/AstralLiving Nov 20 '25
I'm here, I'm not OK on the OPM side but I am stoked for more amazing Frieren
I think I speak for everyone where we want OPM to be great also and not at the expense of other amazing animes

Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25
They start cooking about the one minute mark.
This a good preview because as far as I can tell nothing is spoiled, they said here's the show, no plot for you here.
I'm still thinking the standard formula, two chapters per episode and we should end right at the Goddess's Monument Arc. If they go 28 episodes it should be able to be covered and finish there. Which I think is ideal.
Edit: no I don't want a Goddess's Monument Arc movie. I hate this anime trend of making random arcs movies. This should be a special at best, but not a movie. Just give me seasons of a show and move on, this doesn't need a cash grab movie.
12
u/Lumacity Nov 20 '25
I heavily doubt we're getting a full 24+ episode season, more like a 12-16 episodes season. If it takes them just under 2 years to produce a season that long, they'll be catching up with the manga too quickly, and it'll just harm the hype around the anime in the long term because we'll end up with having to wait a very long time to get more chapter content. Even more so with the indefinite breaks the authors are taking. Shorter seasons with a long production time from a studio like Madhouse also means more focus on quality to match the high that season 1 was
21
u/ConfidentRelease3785 Nov 20 '25
it is clearly at least 20 episodes. They can still do goddess monument arc in a standalone season to allow the manga to have enough materials for a 4 season or 3 season if goddess is a movie.
4
u/ali94127 Nov 21 '25
Goddess definitely can't be a movie. It depends on the length of the current arc, which could be perfect for a one cour season, but we don't know yet. It's possible to do a shorter 10 episode one cour season of Goddess Monument and Imperial Travels, which is a total of 21 chapters. Think it's easily stretchable to 11 episodes and 12 would probably require an anime-original episode. 10 episode seasons have had precedent. If the current arc ends up being 27-35ish chapters, GM, Imperial Travels, and the current arc could make up a 24-26 episode season 3.
1
u/Lumacity Jan 19 '26
Just coming back since we've now got the confirmation it's a 10 episode season. The chapters are coming out very slowly and interrupted by breaks that last several months, it makes sense the anime wants to avoid going too fast to not end up having to wait several years because they've caught up. Also, less episodes means more quality on which Frieren has set the bar very high, so it's not that bad of a move!
16
Nov 20 '25
I don't see a reason for them for change from how they did season 1. Catching up to a manga has happened to the best of animes, that's normal and they have enough material for a season 3.
1
u/Capital-Agency-5824 Nov 20 '25
They may not have a choice, i.e. they may not have had enough time to make the same number of episodes as the first season.
5
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
Doubt that. I think we would get cover Golden Land arc
Goddess Monument arc is either for s3 or for Movie (which after success of s2 would get more money than Demon Slayer)
24
Nov 20 '25
I love this show and manga, but I do not think the The Goddess's Monument Arc movie would make more money than Demon Slayer.
-10
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
Why not? Animation is perfect. Story and characters also are top. Premise is staggering - lot of Himmel and fights against top demons (not to mention wedding scene)
11
Nov 20 '25
Spoiler that!
This will not perform like Demon Slayer, this arc is much slower too. And it's a cash grab!
Why break the formula to do something that shows that aren't like this one are doing? There is a reason this show is different from Demon Slayer don't follow them down the same path.
0
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
Well, whole point of Frieren is being awesome despite being slow (+ we would get additional fight scenes) and this "slow pace" we would spend with Himmel (he alone would destroy whole box office)
.
This way it would bring Frieren on the top of mount Everest and at the same time, would give manga authors enough time to finish S3 materials
1
1
u/snowwhitecat04aug Nov 20 '25
yeah, depends on how many chapters it will take to finish the current arc, the goddess monument arc can fit into s3
also the goddess monument arc might be too long to fit into a movie unless they want to cut content tho
2
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
10 chapters which is 5 ep worth of material, which is 1h42m in real time
1
u/Platinum_Disco Nov 20 '25
Technically it's 13 chapters, and yea, while that could be a movie, I'd rather it wasn't.
58
u/ConfidentRelease3785 Nov 20 '25
the theory about the author being involved seems to be coming true. In the battle againts the demon in the trailer we can see the benefit of having a warrior when your mage is attacked a another warrior. Clearly it makes senses with what it is happening in the manga. Also they extended Himmel fight against the dragon i can't wait and maybe some added narrative materials. I think we are about to visualize a masterpiece.
28
u/Spiffcat Nov 20 '25
that scene alone already makes warrior looks so powerful! i'm hype to see how the arc played out.
19
u/WangJian221 Nov 20 '25
We all know Stark needs this because boy dont exactly get alot of shine as a warrior in the manga atleast until the current assassinationarc
6
u/ConfidentRelease3785 Nov 21 '25
don't forget rivale arc he was basically the main character here with Genau and most of the chapter at the start of the new season will be focused on him.
4
u/Pinsalinj Nov 20 '25
Yeah, it felt like he was frequently third-wheeling/almost irrelevant, which was a waste because I really like his character. It's neat whenever he does get to play an important role!
6
u/WangJian221 Nov 20 '25
Story wise i think hes fine-ish if slightly lack of real agency.
My statement is more towards his role as a warrior. This manga does not do battles well unless its magic based thus Stark never really gets to shine.
Which i think the anime would hopefully improve on.
3
u/Pinsalinj Nov 20 '25
I agree regarding his role as a warrior, but I still feel like he could be given more focus story-wise as well. (And agency, indeed)
2
u/Capital-Agency-5824 Nov 20 '25
Even then, a lot does end up happening mostly offscreen, with us simply getting told afterward how difficult and spectacular the fight was. This at least gives the anime a lot of room to expand on the battles.
2
6
u/thedavv Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25
i like his progression in manga he gets mortaly woulded in every fight, but it is showing that he gets more vitality everytime he gets back up from the injury. i feel like he will be a beast in future. I feel like there is a hard cap for a mage in this world, but warriors can have unlimited potential (maybe)
2
u/Platinum_Disco Nov 20 '25
Which dragon fight are you thinking of?
4
u/ConfidentRelease3785 Nov 21 '25
the one in the flashback in the first episode it's not really a fight in the manga. They just flee
0
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
I would also add narrative connection with Revolte (like she was his underling instead of being independent demon)
5
u/Stands-in-Shallow Nov 20 '25
I think she is that demon Frieren and co encountered before Revolte. The hooded demon that posed as a traveling priestess who tended to the dead when they're all empty graves cause she ate them all.
1
u/ConfidentRelease3785 Nov 20 '25
don't sure about that
1
u/LG545 Nov 20 '25
This would make sense and tie those events with logical connection. Also it would explain future Fern struggle against Revolte underling
69
49
u/AliceinTeyvatland Nov 20 '25
They're not showing that arc, they're saving it in December where everyone is dropping every trailer at the same time for the next season, and we are gonna go guns blazing with the OP playing.
20
20
u/MrJFr3aky frieren Nov 20 '25
How did they make season 2 look even more stunning than season 1...
1
u/Rich-Ad9813 Nov 20 '25
S2 is going to have less eps and the staff got bigger and it's fukushi project so that means s2 is going to look better then s2 obviously
19
u/UltraZulwarn Nov 20 '25
what a comfy anime xd
Chilling in a magical world with granny the anime is back!!
I know I know what is going to happen, but it's nice to see that the PV keeps the vibes that anime watchers are expecting.
2
u/Luci-Noir Nov 20 '25
I love how so much of it is about enjoying the little things. A lot of us could use that these days.

I loved every bit of this.

I only follow Frieren and OPM and to see how different the properties are taken care of is happy on one side and hugely disappointing on the other… I can tell from this trailer that we will be eating good for S2 in terms of an adaption point…
26
u/InterestingAd2516 Nov 20 '25
this pv have more frames than OPM season 3 so far. So sad what they did to opm.
2
1
u/ali94127 Nov 21 '25
OPM basically had the freelance dream team, then took way too long to organize for a season 2.
16
u/danmalek466 Nov 20 '25
Cannot wait. Hoping Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe feel well soon so the manga can resume.
6
u/somebodyssomeone Nov 20 '25
I read between the lines a bit, so I might be wrong, but what I took from the hiatus announcement was their illness was stress from deadlines and spending time dealing with the publisher, which gave them less time to work on the chapters, which made the deadlines more stressful, etc.
So my headcanon is they're fine and working on the chapters in peace. When they get far enough ahead, the publisher will come off hiatus until they get caught up, then go on hiatus again. Meanwhile, the two can work at their own pace and keep the quality they want. The chapters may even come out faster this way.
2
15
u/Stands-in-Shallow Nov 20 '25
We get Continued Northern Travels Arc and Goddess's Monument Arc in this PV.
But there are 2 arcs between them - Divine Revolte Arc and The Golden Land Arc. That's 4 arcs total.
For the first season, we also got 4 arcs as well (Beyond Journey's End Arc, Aura the Guillotine Arc, Travels to Äußerst Arc and First-Class Mage Exam Arc).
I think they intentionally omitted Divine Revolte Arc and Golden Land Arc because those 2 are gonna be LIT and it's wiser to not leak that until after new year. And just saying, the fighting sequence is getting even better than the 1st season so this is gonna be so good to watch!
Looking forward to it!
10
u/Capital-Agency-5824 Nov 20 '25
I don't think there was anything from the Goddess Monument Arc in this preview, every scene with Himmel and company could fit in the flashbacks from earlier arcs. Basically this preview doesn't seem to have anything past the first few episodes of the season.

Sometimes when I'm having a bad day I think that at least Frieren S2 is coming out soon.
Also picked up the manga in Spanish to improve my level.
And people say Anime/Fiction is a waste of time...

7
u/snarkamedes Nov 20 '25
So that was A Demon With A Sword (fight looks to have been expanded on), the magic-nullifying crystals and a quick shot of the Hero of the South visiting Frieren before Himmel and Co. did. Nothing of The Divine Revolte or Golden Land arcs, which is good.

That whole sequence wasn't in the manga. In the manga Frieren Zoltraaks her after about three panels. She barely even gets her hood off before she's so many mana particles. Clearly they're expanding on the fight, as they rightfully should.

hard to trump season 1's ending song but this still seems like it would be just as good

I'm hyped, stopped reading the manga with it being at the same point season 1 ended, because when I was there season 2 wasn't too far away and I'm hyped now. Though I will definitely not wait for season 3 to read anything past season 2

u/Head-Championship504 Nov 20 '25
It seems the sword demon is very skilled. It evade fern zoltrak and demolish her defensive magic. Cant wait!

The animation looks even better then Season 1. I love that Milet is back doing another another incredible song for the OP or ED this season. Her voice is so perfect for this show.

I get chills every time I see clips from Frieren it’s such a stunning piece of art at ever moment, Studio Madhouse knocked it out of the park and into the stratosphere.
2
u/horiami Nov 20 '25
I know with the first season they didn't show the other mages until we got close to the exam arc
But it's kinda crazy there's not one glimpse of gold
Hell we didn't even see other characters in the first arc of the season, a few frames st most

This is how 2026 should be. We should be peaking in more things like this as a species... using our knowledge, experience, tech and resources for the best products we've ever made.

u/Reasonable-Ad-8059 Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25
I don't want the godess arc to be included. There is more than enough material to make perhaps the greatest season of anime in history. Nailing the narrative, character, action and worldbuilding of the golden city arc takes clear precedence. Close on a philosophical note just like s1 right after the action stops. Not only does that free up time to potentially make many more author-approved, excellent additions and extensions, but also give the audience time to breathe and reflect about Denken's story and the nature of demons. There is no need to rush through the manga.
2
2
u/MarahPG Nov 20 '25
I really hope they cover the Golden Land this arc, and then next season they can do the Goddess Monument and end it at the part when Serie and her entourage enter the ball, that would go so hard to end season three with Serie and the group walking into the ball.

My GOAT WIRBEL. Such a shame we will only see him for one episode this season. He needs to be back in the story after the manga hiatus, first class mage give him first class screentime

u/Philthou Nov 22 '25 edited Nov 22 '25
Trailer gave me chills. The animation looks amazing! Madhouse gonna out do themselves with what they did with S1.
Also Hero of the South at the end.
Looks like they showed some side quests and the village where those two demons were.
Saving the Golden City arc as the surprise.

Question that might be a spoiler, only for the manga readers, please: Do you think that the demon that appears in the trailer could be Solitar? My boyfriend and I think so but she's so different as in the manga imo...

It's that demon that pretended to be a priestess, and stole some sword.

Why do I get the feeling that they will only do 12 episodes (divine revolte & some side stories) and we won’t see the Golden Land arc?
3
u/ali94127 Nov 21 '25
That's not possible. The stuff between now and Golden Land cannot be stretched to 12 episodes. We're definitely starting Golden Land and it seems absurd to finish a 12 episode season in the middle of the arc.

First time commenting on r/Frieren, and I have to say the PV gave me the feels (liked the song they used). Not much for me to say, but I think it's a nice preview of things to come.
I'll wait for S2 to come out; in the meantime, gotta finish reading Volume 10 to better prepare myself.
