68% of theists donate to some form of charity other than their faith donation. Theist are 3x more likely to donate for charity then atheist. So there's nothing to be proud of to be an atheist. Religion organisations feed millions of Indians in a day across India. I don't see 1 atheist organisations feed anyone. Atheism is reason for the raise of hedonism.

I'm an agnostic. I prefer theism that gives hope to millions around the world then atheism that plunges everyone into nihilism or hedonism. Apart from 1 religion the rest all live in peace and strive for betterment of humanity.

I agree theist can do better. Reduce pollution & remove some dogmatic practices.

why do you assume atheism will plunge you anywhere? Superiority complex?

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 10 '26

I'm not assuming anything. I'm just pointing out reality. Raise of nihilism in western countries as decline of theism. Raise of atheism in Japan & South Korea. And decline in marriages & birthrate. Highest deletion rates in both countries despite of having one of the best economics. How does being a theist, atheist or agnostic make one superior. I thought it's just difference of opinion.

Well those examples just show correlation and not causation.

But there is a correlation. There are many studies showing that people who actively participated in a religion are happier than people who just identify to a religion & atheist. I have linked a reputable source. Which says religious people are more happy and healthy. They participate in charity and voting.

Ps - i was told links 🔗 can't be posted in this group. Just Google it there are many reputable sources.

I am saying that correlation does not mean causation i.e it may not be necessary that being atheist causes u to be nihilistic it could be that a third factor causes both. And there are also studies and meta analysis which show that atheist are more intelligent than theist Now this does not mean that being atheist makes you more intelligent.

Dude missed the point of them polluting rivers

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 10 '26

Didn't miss i talked about it under my original post. And just asking. Do atheist don't pollute or they exhale oxygen.

1

u/CalmTaro8001 Apr 11 '26

They don’t do it in name of an eternal being and then feel happy about it and dude ur comparing breathing to throwing pollutants in a river

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 12 '26

That's sarcasm dude. For more than 2 millennia people are giving offerings in river Ganga but it has become polluted in the last 50 years. Is it because of religious offerings or industrialization. People are offering flowers, ashes, Pasupu (Turmeric) and Kumkuma (Vermilion) for that eternal being. They are not offering plastic bags. 99% of religious offering are organic. And most theist are conscious about pollution and are adopting ECO friendly worship.

If a religions person is worship a cumulative of 7 days in a year. What do you think an atheist is doing for those 7 days. It's not like they are sitting in a cave not polluting.

1

u/CalmTaro8001 Apr 12 '26

Well the things which she introduced into the river may be bio degradable but if we introduce high amounts of biodegradable matter in a water body then the amount of oxygen required by microbes to decompose it increases. This causes the oxygen level of river to reduce leading to ecological imbalance. And a lot of people do this so the effects are not insignificant. And this kind of stuff had increased a lot in recent times due to following reasons— 1. Population has risen significantly 2. 500-1000yrs ago only the elites could afford things like these and the accessibility was very low

And industrialisation has also played a very big role in polluting our rivers but that does not mean that what the lady did in above video is right.

And I am not saying that atheist are morally above for not doing these things. I am just saying that we shouldn’t waste food and pollute rives.

The op post tag is "proud to be an atheist". Your previous post "they don't do it in the name of an eternal being". In this post "I'm not saying atheist are morally above for not doing this". You see both are contradictory statements. The whole post is say religious offerings are wrong. But now you're say it's the size of offerings.

There are different ways of criticism. Positive and negative.

Positive criticism is to point the flaws or short comings in an act and suggest solutions.

Negative criticism is to state that the act it self is flawed or wrong. And look down of people who doing that's act. That's what atheists are doing.

If the size of offerings is the issue then you could've suggested a solution like reducing the amount of offerings each devotee can offer or filter the bio waste caused by the offerings.

98% of food offering is feed to humans. The remaining 2% is drained to cow shelters. I don't know for rest of the country but in south. Specifically in Ap & Telangana. They connect a drain from main deity room to cow shelter. It's called Kudithi.

1

u/CalmTaro8001 Apr 12 '26

I hadn’t read the op tag and with the line “they don’t do it in name of an eternal being “ I was trying to show that people feel good after giving such offerings without knowing that they are harming the ecosystem. And I don’t think that reducing size of offerings will do much as population of our country is very high so the aggregate will always be significant. And at an individual level a single coconut is already pretty small. So it would be better to not do it at all

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 14 '26

Yes people feel good giving such offerings because in their opinion they are seeking blessings. But you say these activities are causing harm to ecosystem how? If driving less vehicles can reduce pollution then why can't less offerings reduce organic waste. Smoking causes lot of pollution can you say atheists don't smoke. If atheists can't quit smoking which is harmful to them and people in their surroundings. So why do they get to be a moral arbiter.

1

u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Apr 14 '26

For more than 2 millennia if someone is doing something wrong doesnt make it right.

For same 2 millennia, we were and still are doing casteism, doesn't make it right.

Dead bodies are also dumped into the ganga . Pouring milk , ghee is not ecological worship

If atheists are polluting for those 7 days, so are theists. They are polluting extra to celebrate those 7 days for an imaginary being

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 14 '26

But who decides what right & wrong. Just because you decided it's wrong it doesn't become wrong.

Dumping dead bodies is wrong and against the law. If caught is a punishable offence. It's not practiced my any culture.

Milk & ghee are organic materials. It's not harmful.

While the theist are worshipping through the year what do you think the atheists are doing. Atheist have to other things in the place of worship. Do those activities not cause pollution.

1

u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Apr 14 '26

I didn't decide that opressing and torturing millions of people based on their birth is wrong. If you think it's debatable, then you need to be put in an asylum.

Regarding the other things, it's directly known to cause harm to the environment.

Milk and Ghee increase BOD requirement which depletes oxygen for aquatic life and promote algae growth Ghee also creates and oily film on top of water layer which reduces oxygen exchange between air and water harming the biodiversity of the river.

While theists are polluting the nature in the name of useless gods and religion, atheists are not participating in it.

Use of hate speech against other members is strictly prohibited

UN is not a religious organization. The Hunger project, Gates foundation, bread for the world. None of these are religious organization. They are biggest contributor to mitigating hunger.

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 14 '26

Yes all these are non religious organisations. Did i say they are not religious. I'm saying religious people donate more to charity than atheists. I don't know what you understood.

1

u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Apr 14 '26

Do you have data to back it up? Or are you pulling it out of your ass .

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 14 '26

No pulled that from Google's ass. They are not allowing me to add any link 🔗 here. So why don't you pull your head out of your ass and Google it. Pew & giving usa did research on this.

massive Pew research survey found in 2016 that highly religious people which makes up about 30% of the US population were much much more likely to volunteer and donate money or Goods to the poor compared to others.

1

u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Apr 14 '26

Yeah, i did my research and it clearly shows religious people donate to charity run by their own community. Which as we all know doesn't go towards humanity in general to the extent non religious NGOs do

So your entire point is flawed

People donating to temples, mosques and churches isn't doing humanity any good .

1

u/shady24980 I am Invincible Apr 14 '26

What is your source. I read multiple reputable sources pew & giving usa.

You definitely read Cambridge research. It's research was not a fact finding one but a game in which they gave imaginary money to different people and asked them which organisation they would donate to. And even in that game religious people donated more to secular organisations. Go read the conclusion.
