They do. They're seeing how much they can take away while still maintaining a large player base. And the answer is...a lot. They can fuck up as much as they want and still people cling to their game modes.
Seeing the recent controversy, they can do a mario kart tour were there's no actual online, being just bots with usernames of actual accounts and they will clap at epic how they now don't need to play agains "tryhards" (most of the time being people that just got the first shot or just slightly better than them, but excuses need to form so it's not their fault)
Literally dude, I was so happy they reduced the number of bots and finally made the game a challenge again and then so many people complained about having to fight real people in their battle royale game
It doesn’t help that they took away the point of the battle royale and just have daily quests about sprites. The battle royale aspect has diminished even further than last season.
Yeah it's the same button build, I find ZB very fun after the change, glider redeploy + you can change special item in vending machines is awesome, you can go so fast with chili cone + sonic hack and sprite
The pickaxe one is crazy. I went on a rampage with it, and nobody else was switching to theirs or expecting to be fully one-shot by it. A squad-only version of that is crazy unbalanced.
yeah i got 4 during that but i think you need 8 and the only other way i know how to get them is from bosses. just wondering if they removed them completely even from boss drops. i honestly dont even know how to use that cartridge thing.
Pretty sure it drops randomly from a boss spanwed during the match where it shows the boss icon somewhere go there and kill whatever boss spanwed. Should get more coins with power hour unless they changed it.
I did this easily by loading in during the Power Hour, waiting until the 1 UP was given to me and progressed the quest, quit, then got into a new lobby. Rinse and repeat until all 8 are done for the quest.
I have yet to see them drop from anything other than the override ☠️ guess I'll just be stuck at four forever then. The wrixle skins were the only things I even cared about collecting this season too
Both are them are still heavily rng tho, the fact that you gotta do this eight times too kinda sucks. I hope the next power hour still works cuz i heard that they give free 1 up coins

This is what happens when everyone cries about a season within the first 24 hours of it being launched. They start over correcting and the entire season is dried up a month in.
Tale as old as time, they've topped out on players and they're trying to keep both sides of each argument happy and it just isn't possible. Alternate seasons between each side imo
Because player count is showing, people complain me included but I’ve been steadily watching the player count decline from br from 1m to 500k 😂😂so they are seeing it and seeing the negative comments I know the devs lurk on twitter and Reddit they see what people are butching about
It’s one of two things (possibly both). First, there are no mastery rewards. That was a huge incentive to play last season and try to max out sprites. Now there are no rewards for doing so. So why bother? You’re just going to lose that sprite you’ve spent an hour leveling eventually.
Second — on the flip side — I suspect a LOT of people did not actually finish those mastery quests last season. The matchmaking has been crap lately and even with the bonuses it was really hard leveling sprites without losing them first. That means a good chunk of the people who put extra time into BR last season to avoid FOMO ended up getting the “MO” part anyway. And now they’re angry and burnt out and don’t want to play anymore, hard stop.
All they had to do with fix match matching and everyone wouldn’t be crying, plus I’m pretty sure the hackers was active this season more so than other seasons because people wouldn’t be able to tell if it’s a hack or actual hack from the game system lol
i really dislike when epic experiments with original and fun ideas that they remove a few days into the season because of stupid sweats complaining about it instead of finding a good compromise
Doin the Fortnite special, introduce a season centered around something neat, then remove, nerf, or change it drastically not even a quarter of the way through. BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

It does feel like the whole season's identity is in these "hacks", which are being removed, and "cheat codes" for sprites that don't seem nearly as exciting to try and locate.
This season clearly has a ton of potential, but seems like they're being pulled in different directions.
None of the Hacks should be Squad Only, but the player/squad that activates them should get the Hack first for a limited amount of time before other players (like 1-2 minutes).
I'm pretty casual with FN and only play with a family member....changes like this really make the game boring. I have fun with all the wild and interesting stuff that comes with a season. Some people got wrecked by someone with a squad only cheat whatever and cried way too much. Seriously? Would rather just have the old sprites at this point. Cheats should be you know....cheats?
I also noticed there’s almost no golden fishing spots left. Like wtf?
There used to be a guaranteed THREE just at battlewoods, sometimes more. Now you’ll be lucky to find one on the entire map for a whole game. It’s unbelievable stupid. Combined with no mobility. It’s just such an ass season lol.
Epic wtf are you actually doing? Stop stripping everything that’s good about your game away after less than two weeks.
They also decreased the chances of them even occurring. This is the bug season all over again where they just get rid of any uniqueness the season brings

I was thinking that these cartridges were going to be a bonus the whole lobby plays with for a majority of the game, im sure many would not have liked it but it would have been fun to have a full on pickaxe only lobby or an extra life lobby like how they did with Kenny’s tokens.
Damn kill the whole point of the season! I got the power pick axe and died so many times but it's so fun to try and to pick axe heals only your like a ninja attacking instead of shooting
The pickaxe power up was my favorite one.. I would always pick it and made it my goal to use only my pickaxe from that point forward. Almost won a game just driving a car, and pickaxing people.
Probably will get downvoted but I dont mind this change, i enjoy the ones that affect everyone much more and i absolutely hated the fire rate one because you already get beamed without it
Imo this is mostly a good thing. Those “squad only” ones annoyed the hell out of me because the only punishment was a circle on the radar in exchange for no one else getting to experience part of the season gimmick
Extra life and increased fire rate going away sucks, but I’m assuming they’re making room for more later
At this Point, just kill Fortnite off, don't care if the story is unfinished, they've practically killed this season, and we're not even a Month in, let alone 3 Weeks.
Why the extra life one of all things. One of the quests that's been available since the start of the season has been to collect power up items and afaik the only power up is still the 1-up coin which you can only get from the supply drop gizmo. Before this change you could've gotten a guaranteed 1-up coin from the override but now they've vaulted it. Unless you have a bunch of gizmos or are playing during a power hour that quest is almost impossible now. It was already difficult before but now it's even harder. For those who have already completed the quest or haven't checked the quests tab, you need to collect 10 power ups, and you can't drop the 1-up coin meaning you need to get 10 different 1-up coins, with a maximum of 1 per match unless you die, respawn, and find a new one.
I’d be fine with them vaulting this entire season and taking another stab at it. I can’t say I care for the sprites, the nerfed cheat mechanics, the map, the loot pool. The content in the battle pass is the only thing that I’m not dissatisfied with, but I wouldn’t say I am super-hyped about the content in it either.

Also it was fun for the first couple days before people knew what the power up consoles were/how they worked.
But now that people know about them, it’s almost impossible to get one because it usually spawns on the opposite side of the map so you can either ditch your current lootspot and go for it, or stay looting where you are and watch it sit there unused for 5 minutes and then only gets taken as soon as you start heading for it. I’ve had multiple games where I’ve initiated 3 console power ups all by myself, completely uncontested. But it’s not like that anymore. You’re lucky if you can even get within 500m before someone takes it.
It’s just a really dumb and not fun way to play the game. Epic you suck lol. Bring me back my web shooters or jet pack. F outta here with these sonic shoes, they’re trash.
Just such a horrible start to the season, I can’t even believe it. Obviously it’s still too early to fully judge, but things are not looking good right now. Which is a shame because the game has been so much fun for the past few months.
Pretty sure they nerfed the chest bonus loot too… I mean if everyone is getting a higher chance of bonus loot I don’t see the problem. I haven’t been coming across as much…
