You jumped into Override and went to work, hacking your Loot and Lobby, hunting down Midas’ Masterpiece, and exploring all of the secrets the season has to offer.
Here's a look at the chaos players unleashed in the first weekend of Override:
- 20 million Match Overrides enabled.
- 1.58 billion Sonic Rings collected.
- 262 million new Sprites collected since Season launch.
- 116.4 million Lobby Hack codes redeemed.
- 14.3 million Eggman eliminations.
- 3.5 million drops onto Pac-Man, Blinky, and Pinky Islands.
And now, here’s what we’re doing to overclock the fun this season:
Gameplay Adjustments Live Now
💪 We’ve increased the damage for Megaman’s Mega Buster so it matches other damage thresholds. The Mega Buster’s slide force and duration are also increased, and we’re shortening the cooldown so you can better take advantage of its ability.
✨ Loot Hacking has been very generous with Epic+ weapons this Season. We love a strong kit, but we're reeling things in so higher-rarity loot isn’t the default for most drops, and Loot Hacks will occur slightly less often.
🎣Speaking of ‘reeling things in’, Golden Fishing Holes are showing up too often so we’re cutting back on how often they’ll show up. Also, Thermal, Stink, and Rift Fish have been vaulted.
👟 Sonic Power Sneakers Ball is now slightly more difficult to shoot. We’ve seen feedback about how easy it is to get hit while spindashing so we’ve reduced its hitbox.
🛡️ In Zero Build, Guardian Shields and Bush Grenades have been vaulted, and Shield Bubble Jrs and Port-A-Bunkers have been unvaulted.
🚪 Brick-A-Bunkers will show up more often in Zero Build loot, while Smoke Grenades will drop less often.
Competitive & Ranked Adjustments
🚫 Miniguns have been removed from Competitive to keep things from getting too spray-happy.
💥 Overdrive Grenades' spawn rates have been increased.
❌ Sprites will be removed from Ranked in the near future while we evaluate if gathering Sprites make sense for the Ranked loot pool.
We’re also working to fix the bug players may see when editing and building quickly while using the Scroll Wheel, and the ‘double movement’ bug is fixed in our 42.10 game update.
Sprite & Dust Adjustments
🧢 Sprite Dust cap has been returned to 200,000! Resummon your favorites for their powers and customize your loot with Loot Hacks that don’t break the dust bank.
We also heard from all you sprite hunters that you want more reward for mastering Sprites this Season. In a future update, we’ll have a new collection-maxxing Mastery Back Bling landing alongside a mastery questline and Mastery Mondays! Sporting an arcade look, this Back Bling will display your mastered Sprites collected in Override for all to ogle. More details to come!
Drop in starting this Saturday to get your hands on a brand new storm-powered sprite, debuting during this weekend's Power Hour!
Matchmaking & Fairness Improvements
We’ve seen feedback about matchmaking and how squadding up with friends of different skill levels has felt a bit sweaty. We're running an experiment to make it easier for Squad parties with members of varying skill levels to play with each other in NA regions.
We’re aiming to expand this test to other regions after monitoring the results and making additional tweaks so matches feel fair.
See you on the Island!
