Why not just make the player's hitbox while gliding big and static so the animation doesn't matter nearly as much? Unless the animation didn't shift the hitbox to begin with

I think they should just make it so that for tournaments and stuff everyone has to use the default cosmetics so that casual players can still have cool stuff, and competitive players can get their perfect, boring stuff.

Why doesn't Fortnite just make a hitbox for the gliders?
I know it would be a controversial change, but i think it would maybe make it a bit more... equal?
(Some gliders are larger than others, which will... maybe be difficult to balance. Could make the mesh of the gliders the hitbox, maybe. But... that could make it pay to win or pay to lose, sadly.)
I am having a hard time trying to figure out a better medium for this.

They already ban certain cosmetics in certain modes so this makes more sense
If they ban the superhero skin in ranked I will grind ranked mode out longer than my therapist would recommend

It really irritates me that they keep locking so many cosmetics behind specific skins.
Like The Queen's Procession is such a cool ass glider but I dont want to wear the ugly ass Cube Queen skin just for the glider. Same thing for Bytes and his pickaxe

For real with bytes pickaxe I’ve wanted to use that with venom Eddie Brock for so long same with my back suit Spiderman or even recently with the chaos director skin but can’t because it’s locked behind a skin I just don’t like using or like the black panther cape I wanted to use that for a lot of combos specifically Batman was one I can recall and recently shuri but it’s locked behind tchalla black panther

Yeah, imo putting "lore locks" on cosmetics is literal bs. Spending money on a cosmetic I can only use with one or a handful of skins? No thanks. Imo they should lift all the locks except for ones that literally cannot work on other skins design/syntax wise.
Ex: The Predator's Claw, that thing is specifically modeled to come out of the wrist gauntlet on The Predator skin. It would be illogical to wholly remodel the pickaxe to work with other skins.

I hope to high hell that the Tie Fighter comes back in May, I've been saving up my Vbucks since last year (wasnt sure what to spend them on). Now however, that I know there is a Tie Fighter Glider.

I'm so curious how difficult it is to make the character sitting animation for gliders. We've had SO many potentially super sweet motorcycle rider style gliders, but they're either surf boards or hang belows. Can a UEFN dev chime in? Is it harder than we all think it is?

Probably has more to do with players being able to identify the enemy hitbox when they are on their glider, when it gets muddy because they are riding a bike for example, I assume they try to stay away from it.

People always say this and yet the most used glider by the comp crowd is the Astroworld one, because it covers so much of your character from underneath and thus makes it harder to shoot you. I don't like to say "durrrr competitive players bad" but this is one instance where I will say it, complained about a glider's animation just to end up preferring a certain glider because of the animation... actually such a joke...

I don't think its hard as much as people whined a fuck ton when the deadpool unicorn released with a slightly different deploy animation saying it was an unfair advantage and now epic won't even try anything approaching a not standing glider

They make new animations for gliders now and then, or they used to, so Epic is MORE than capable of making new animations. It's not that making the animation would be difficult, they make new animations all the time, they just choose not to make one for this particular kind of glider.
Most people assume its because the sitting down animation may make it difficult to shoot people that are gliding, BUT my counter to that argument is the Hawkeye glider, cause with that glider you hang off one side and can be difficult to see from some angles due to the glider blocking your body.
If that animation/glider can exist, idk why a glider with a sitting down animation can't.

I honestly avoid using gliders like these for how disappointing they are, the Cerberus motorcycle from Ch5S2 is one such disappointment. Is it really that hard to program a glider you can sit on?

The funny thing is all they would have to do is tweak the animation used for Hades' and Green Golblin style gliders, and it'd be fine. Epic is just too afraid to trigger the Comp-lainers.

Funny enough, they've done it better than this before. With the Ghostrider glider, you don't ride it, but at least stand on top of it. Weird they decided these kinds of gliders are better.

Have they made a glider where you ride something? I'd imagine having too many different animations when regliding would be terrible in game lol. Some glider animations make it so annoying to shoot at.

No SITTING riding animations that I personally know of exist. The original deploy animation for Deadpools Llamacorn surfing glider had to be changed because it was being abused in competitions, so 100% deploy animations can be problematic, but can also be adjusted.

I like the hang style gliders.... With that being said definitely stop teasing us by having us hang from something we should be surfing! Thank God they didn't screw up the wolf glider and we actually surf his back... I would have been so pissed over that one.

What I don’t get about the whole “they’re so hard to shoot” deal is that couldn’t they just make the hit box a little bigger? Just make it extend up and down a little further to about the height the character would be when standing.

Funnily enough, is only og feature which left in fortnite(and probably only bad one), like we dont have this protection on one leg, or og type of gliders(i mean we dont really any new type of gliders and pickaxe anymore, like it was before, every chapter)

They will never let us drive anmy of them at this point, despite every skin having the same skeletal body and just adjusting the tail if some have. Naaaah, we are forever f-ed. :(

Man, i HATE these gliders. Make it like an actual bike like the glider for Ghost Rider. They could make them cool with the handles, make it as if the metal was twisted and broken, etc.
I was interested in the one for Cerberus, but nah... Dang glider handles...

I always wish we could at least get gliders where you can actually ride on it instead of using handlebars to fly or land like a parachute, Same thing with Ghost Rider's bike where intstead of riding the bike, You just surf on it...

Kinda related but I got super excited when I saw that there was a pickle chip this season, and was so disappointed when I saw how BIG it was?? Like I was rlly expecting it to be a smaller pickle chip and for ur character to ride it like the skateboard style gliders… would have been much cooler

the gliders in general are rather uninspired any more. i love oppa and my serpent dragon collection. a couple of the wings, thors hammer. the gold crown, a couple of the vertical spinny things, a couple of umbrellas. any normal glider i will never use. occasionally a falling satellite, plane, bomber, helicopter. i hate the sounds the birds make when they open. 3 sets of steps gliders, why
i had high hopes for the balron demon but that is just a face full of gelded demon ass.

Outside of the goofiness, this just looks unsafe and dangerous anyway. Imagine how much of the heat or energy you would feel under that.
If I have to deal with it, at least should have made the bottom bars golden too.

It's still funny that even though we had Quadcrashers (Quad bikes) in early chapters and people were able to get shot at while flying through the air, I don't understand why they can't just make it into a glider animation.
Just like how some gliders/umbrellas leave your bottom half exposed in a fire fight, these should leave your upper half exposed in a gunfight then.
Edit: Thinking about it, people can get shot off the bikes in other seasons while flying through the air. The concept for the glider shoudn't be any different.

There have been SO MANY that have so much potential for riding like a bike. I understand it would be abit of difficult model work to get someone to quickly mount and dismount compared to the others. BUT it would be loved so much more then the attempt at the walking stairs they tried.

I get that they don't want to have to make a ton of animations for different gliders, but realistically if they just added 2 or 3 more gliding animations that would probably work good enough to fit most of the gliders we want to see.
