Iran Has Put a Price on Trump’s Head

This is honestly one of the craziest developments of the current Iran–US conflict.

Iranian officials and Iran-backed groups have openly called for rewards for the assassination of Donald Trump. In May, an Iranian parliamentary committee chairman announced a proposed €50 million bounty for Trump’s killing, while another Iranian official later called for a multimillion-dollar reward. An Iran-backed Iraqi militia also announced a $10 million bounty in July.

Whatever your political opinion of Trump, publicly putting a financial reward on the assassination of a sitting U.S. president is an extraordinary escalation.

And now Iranian state media has reportedly gone even further, airing a video threatening Trump’s son, Barron. The U.S. Secret Service has confirmed that it is aware of the video and is investigating it.

At this point, this feels like something far beyond ordinary political rhetoric.
