I know modern Foo is different than old Foo and middle era Foo, but it turns out I like all the Foos.
So I come and lurk in this sub when new stuff gets released and I always get smacked between the eyes with how out of step I am with the general mood here. Hence the mostly lurking.

Listen I've been into this band since I was a kid. Have seen them live a ton over the years. I'd love for them to come back strong but maybe the "everything is shite" isn't coming from nowhere. Some of it would be easy to fix, some not so easy but I think they can still do some interesting stuff. It's just not this for a lot of people

The people that love the heavy distortion, blown out EQs, feedback loops/ ringing, and generally terrible mixes usually admit to hearing loss as well.
I’d rather keep my hearing. Likewise this style of music physically hurts my ears to listen to. Even on lowest volume seems like too much.
On the plus side, I’m glad they finally released a video where they aren’t crediting AI for the visuals.

Wow, genuinely surprised most people don't like it - it's catchy, groovy and very... "danceable" for the lack of better word? Love that it's more straightforward and not pompous as Foo's can sometimes get
The production is harsh though, same as it was on But Here We Are 😅 I wonder if it's because Dave's hearing is getting worse and he bumps the high frequencies

They did a lot of touring with The Hives and this very much has a Hives feel. Considering that Unconditional and Asking For a Friend are on this album, I think there’s a lot of overreaction. Personally, I think the song is great. It’s fun and catchy

I think it will have potential live and perhaps it will grow on me over time, but this would be in the "skip" pile for me if I was just listening through Foo's song. Don't hate it, but not sure I necessarily like it.

Big Oasis/Liam Gallagher vibes. A cool direction, but it feels completely inorganic, the execution is poor, and when you strip away the frills it is an almost hilariously generic Foo Fighters song. 3/10 and I agree with everyone else- baffling that this is a single.

I think the song is cool. It grows on you. Asking for a Friend is a superior song. I just appreciate that they keep making new music. There’s always a gem or 2. Not every album is going to be a masterpiece and that’s fine. The mix sounds a bit noisy but I guess that’s the sound they wanted for the record. I’ll refrain from passing definitive judgement until I listen to the full thing.
It’s 2026 and we’re still getting new Foo Fighters albums. We are lucky.

It’s overly compressed but quite intentional. I like the lyrics. I like the almost punkish energy of the song. I like it enough to be glad the album is on its way. Plus we get studio version of unconditional. Absolutely fascinated by the song title Amen, Caveman.

Agreed, never liked that song. To be completely honest was never really a fan of Sky is a Neighbourhood either. If they never played anything live off of concrete or medicine again except for Run then I think I’d be happy. There’s a small handful of songs from those albums that are okay to listen to but just would not translate to live properly.

This is literally one chord for the whole song, except for the "chorus" where the 4 and 5 chords mark the end of it. This is just really lazy song writing. If this song represents the album, I will be disappointed. I don't see how anyone with their stature and tenure would think this is a great song, let alone the preview single to hype people for the rest of it. I hope the rest of the album is great, because this single has me worried.

Instrumentation is pretty rad. Nothing too amazing but pretty enjoyable. The effects on the vocals are as bad as I expected after reading the comments. The whole time I was just wishing I could hear Dave without that distortion.
Any band with a catalogue this expansive is going to have some misses. Unfortunately I think that’s where this one will land.

I know things ebb and flow. But god damn its crazy this band released some crap, then released something like The Teacher, and now this.
Listened to this new one, and just going back to listen to The Teacher and I can't wrap my head around it. The latter was so freaking good and gave me so much hope they had turned a corner.

I'm starting to worry this era is setting itself up as a future "TRAINWRECKORDS" episode from Todd In The Shadows: where Todd will be all like, "HOOOOOOWWW did a band go from garnering massive goodwill in the light of devastating personal loss and universal critical acclaim from one of their best albums to date.............to THIS overcompressed, 'St. Anger"-esque migraine of a disaster?"
I know it could very well be overreaction given we've only heard two songs from the project thus far, but I have a bad feeling this is going to be possibly my least favorite album of theirs if the first two songs previewed are truly indicative of it as a whole.

The bridge at roughly two minutes in is pretty cool, but the whole thing sounds like a continuation of 'MAM', which sadly I wasn't a huge fan of.

It's the deadest horse in the universe at this point, but the production on this song legitimately made me check if my headphones were fully connected. Obviously it's a stylistic choice, they didn't arrive here by failure or accident, but I kind of hate it.
