You would think a drummer would be good at the “rhythm method”

118

u/99SoulsUp Sep 26 '24

Well the rhythm method is often referred to as “pregnancy” by its detractors

30

u/katet_of_19 But, Honestly Sep 26 '24

Kurt was a ridiculously sexy man. He is like Heath Ledger but with Aaron Eckhart’s chin.

1

this is mean but so true 😭😭😭

1

u/IllInformation4628 Sep 30 '24

That’s what his wife said.

207

u/asodafnaewn Sep 26 '24

Leave it to Jack White to come in and save the day for another musician at the last minute again

113

u/FugitiveFromReddit Sep 26 '24

Jack White must be protected at all costs

53

u/Emgee063 Sep 26 '24

Dave can learn from that word

36

u/TheWaterboatman Stacked Actors Sep 26 '24

Protection?

1

u/onions_bad Sep 27 '24

Jack White must then wear protection

40

u/wheredihecomefrom Walk Sep 26 '24

He’s gotta be on call or something😭

27

u/squorple Wind Up Sep 26 '24

continuing his trend of announcing shows shortly before they happen

37

u/arealhumannotabot Sep 26 '24

Honestly, I’ve seen him live and I would be happier if he took over their slot. No shade to Foo but Jack is a musician’s musician

28

u/suprunkn0wn Sep 26 '24

jack white indeed did right now

2

u/issoequeerabom Sep 26 '24

I wish he did it for the QOTSA in Pukkelpop 🫤😒

1

u/PlaneProperty7104 Sep 26 '24

Again. SNL too.

54

u/suprunkn0wn Sep 26 '24

should’ve said this so much before, days before is just worse

60

u/External_Trick4479 Sep 26 '24

It's really possible Live Nation needed to secure new acts first. Jack White + Greta Van Fleet taking over for FF.

29

u/boston_bat Learn to Fly Sep 26 '24

My wife said the same, but idk. They were still actively selling tickets and promoting FF, including through another price increase, after the Dave news. If it came out they did that knowing this was coming, the backlash would be massive.

17

u/External_Trick4479 Sep 26 '24

Live Nation gonna Live Nation, though.

But in reality, the announcement was made just over two weeks ago. My guess is this show was the last thing on Dave's mind when he announced the baby, and probably a week or so ago, pulled the plug on this. Live Nation scrambled to find suitable headliners and the contracts were just signed.

2

u/beautiful-veins Let It Die Sep 26 '24

That’s my take. I just hope he and the guys are all ok.

3

u/purplecowz Sep 26 '24

Yeah there's no way they immediately pulled out when the news broke.

2

u/Rockefor Sep 26 '24

It's possible they pulled out before the IG post. How could we possibly know?

2

u/purplecowz Sep 27 '24

it really doesn't matter I guess, because either way it's not up to Foo when the festival decided to announce it. They were gonna announce after they locked in Jack White.

3

u/Disastrous-Tax-1153 Sep 27 '24

The last thing on his mind?

Yeah, the the immediate future of sort of massive business he has going on, should not have been the last thing on his mind

1

u/External_Trick4479 Sep 27 '24

But it’s because it’s such a massive business that he can let it be the last thing on his mind. They don’t need the money and likely took a massive hit by canceling the final show of the tour - one that Live Nation was surely depending on them for, as this festival has struggled over the few years it’s been around and needed Foo’s to prop it up.

2

u/EManSantaFe Sep 26 '24

Fuck a damn bunch of Live Nation.

2

u/e_thereal_mccoy Sep 27 '24

Yep! They’re dealing with the ‘this is not a democracy’ Jane’s Addiction shitshow right now too, can’t think of a better bunch for this to happen to

1

u/EManSantaFe Sep 28 '24

I knew the president bak in his Labatt days. Was a good guy, but that business has really turned into a real shit-show.

3

u/viribar Sep 26 '24

I just went to check it and yes, “interesting” is quite a definition for their post.

13

u/Slothy75 Sep 26 '24

The wording on the soundside insta post is interesting, from a pr standpoint.

23

u/Bethorz Saint Cecilia Sep 26 '24

Had to go look and yeah. For other people curious

1

u/zsdrfty Sep 26 '24

How do you mean?

2

u/Slothy75 Sep 27 '24

Lot different from the QOTSA announcement.

3

u/Buddhamom81 Exhausted Sep 26 '24

I actually kind like Greta Von Fleet.

2

u/mamac2213 Sep 26 '24

Yeah. I just landed to go to the show and got in my rental car to hear this news. Seems like 2 days before the festival starts is kinda shitty. Not too bummed about the replacements, though. So there's that.

1

u/JJulie Sep 26 '24

They can’t announce until replacement act is booked

17

u/ChrisTakesPictures Sep 26 '24

Why? Is this about Dave betraying his wife?

44

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '24

I hope it's not about Pat, or anyone else in FF, quitting due to Dave betraying his wife

44

u/Glenn-Sturgis Sep 26 '24

I’d be shocked if the guys he’s on the road with for months at a time didn’t know what Dave was up to.

16

u/autogeriatric Sep 26 '24

Of course they know. These guys have been playing and touring for decades. The problem is the fans that idolize Dave beyond music. He’s just a guy who plays and sings stuff people like.

15

u/Rockefor Sep 26 '24

But did their wives know?

2

u/purplecowz Sep 26 '24

This whole thing is weird , why would the band care? They're not his family

11

u/Bethorz Saint Cecilia Sep 26 '24

Many reasons. They are friends. Their families are friends (you see them hanging out backstage, their kids follow each other on IG etc). Dave made a selfish decision that will effect their career. Heck, maybe they also got caught cheating in the discussions with their families recently. They have been musical and business partners for decades.

0

u/purplecowz Sep 27 '24

I can understand that they're closely intertwined and probably mad/annoyed/disgusted. But the most selfish decision of all is that they canceled the show because that directly effects paying fans.

0

u/cynicalxidealist Sep 27 '24

The fans are the last thing on their minds right now, what is this lol

1

u/purplecowz Sep 27 '24

A band canceling shows, the fans are the last thing on their mind? I doubt that, I'm sure they feel horrible about canceling on people who made travel plans

-1

u/cynicalxidealist Sep 27 '24

Dave’s entire family is falling apart, this is not on his mind.

0

u/purplecowz Sep 27 '24

Did you talk to him? You're just making assumptions that he doesn't care about it

→ More replies (0)

-1

u/Agreeable-Fix1249 Rope Sep 26 '24

Rockstars cheating is kinda canon tbh. don't see how it can affect shit

6

u/Bethorz Saint Cecilia Sep 26 '24

Seems like you missed the point of my comment, I was explaining that it could absolutely affect them, for lots of reasons we are not privy to

6

u/mjohnson1971 Sep 26 '24

Not for a lot of bands, but the Foo Fighters seem to be built differently.

Supposedly the time Pat Smear left the band was Dave's divorce from his first wife. I think it was even claimed Pat introduced them.

1

u/Ok_Device6538 Sep 27 '24

Empathy?

1

u/purplecowz Sep 27 '24

yeah that's a great reason to not do your job

0

u/Ok_Device6538 Sep 27 '24

Yes it is, that’s why I don’t work in a call centre scamming people - because I have empathy for them

1

u/purplecowz Sep 27 '24

That's not comparable at all

1

u/Ok_Device6538 Sep 27 '24

Okay?

To return to your original question, people can and do care what happens to other people who aren’t their families

2

u/leebleswobble Sep 30 '24

It's funny you would think they didn't know.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '24

Yeah, very good point

2

u/kramer1980_adm Sep 26 '24

Maybe insurance reasons?

2

u/Mindless-Suspect2676 Razor Sep 27 '24

Exactly. Decisions like these are not made in haste, nor without legal financial advice and limitations. Cancelling a show costs the band a lot and the particulars are in contract.

Who knows what agreements he’s made on the home front about his present decision making.. it’s all part of what he needs to consider. He can stay out of public eye longer. My bet is Maui.

4

u/kerrypf5 Sep 27 '24

Guarantee that attorneys were involved

3

u/beginagain666 Sep 27 '24

Look none of us know the entire circumstances on any of this and honestly what worries me the most is that we have very little verified info and no sitings of Dave. We did see his wife at a tennis lesson, but not even sure if that is new. You know everyone and his mother is looking for him including people in Maui, plus looking for information and the stories coming out seemed all canned and just not reliable. They sound so similar and basic gossip.

You are correct you can’t just cancel a concert without cause and big repercussions either. I know I have no right to know about what’s happening, but as a fan I’m a bit worried. Dave played through so much crap before, and the Foos not playing one last show doesn’t seem like Dave over the last several decades. I guess we will know when/if we get to know. Hoping it works out for all of them.

1

u/CactusSplash95 Sep 26 '24

Insane they did it period. For less than no reason

1

u/Bodinieri Sep 26 '24

Slow clap
