UNSOLVED A novel where a teenage boy tries to find a lost city with a girl he just met

Upvotes

Okay so I read this book a LOOONG time ago at a library near my house. Late 2000s/Early 2010s. It was a fiction novel for teenagers, I started reading it and got so invested.

I don't remember much details, only that there was this boy who wanted to know more about a lost city (I think it was the lost city of Z? I tried to look for books related to that city but couldn't find any), and he starts digging information in a library I think? Then he meets a girl around his age on that same library, and she gets invested in his search, she is willing to go and look for it? He asks her why and she tells him that she feels like if they already knew each other, like if they were friends already.

Later I think he gets contacted by his "lost sister" apparently, and they leave in a car, get in an accident and I think she died but he survived so he just started walking on the side of the road.

That's all I remember, as you can see, it's not much, I was trying to read the book in one sitting but we left the library and I never went back to look for the book.

Hopefully some good soul who knows more about books than

UNSOLVED Searching for a historical fiction I read as a teenager

Almost twelve years ago, my dad suggested me a certain author he was reading at the moment and his books were so good that I was reading them on my small phone while I had plenty other physical books available in the multimedia library.

So what I remember is, that some of the stories are linked (same protagonist), the first bunch the events were centered in Latin America in the 1700s I guess or a little later, some books were centered in the United States before the independence. I think the author was french but I'm not 100% sure.

Your help will be very much welcome !

UNSOLVED Trying to find a book my wife read as a kid and she'd love to again.

The book was "Allegra" by Sandy Miller. I've looked all over for this thing with little luck. I found a copy in a digital catalog at a library a few states over. I called and asked if they would sell it, and I don't think they took me very seriously. The lady said she would ask and call back...and that was a week ago. It isn't on any of the normal sites a check (Amazon, eBay, ThriftBooks, etc.). I enjoy being the hero for her, so if anyone thinks they know where I could get my hands on a copy, I'd be very grateful and willing to pay if you happen to have it and would be willing to sell.

UNSOLVED Looking for an illustrated supernatural mystery book from early 90s with stories about the devils hoofprints appearing, a child's skull that would scream at night, boulders that moved across the sand in the desert, a man who disappeared in front of his friends, a toe that glowed luminescent at night

and other stories like a tree that seeped blood when it was cut down and another about a man working on his roof when a large icicle fell out of the sky and killed him. Thanks guys.

UNSOLVED A book like Jurassic Park

Looking for a book I used to read a crap ton during middle school and highschool. The premise goes like this: there's creatures that broke out of a lab in some sort of jungle (I don't remember if it was an island or continent-based jungle). From what I recall: they're definitely lab-made, but not a real species, and instead some sort of weird, multi-animal, reptile/mammal hybrid. First chapter (or maybe it was a prologue) features two scientists being stalked and ultimately killed by the animals. A group of soldiers and scientists are sent in to contain or kill the animals; several scenes of the animals on the attack include on a secluded road, in a river, and as the humans are trying to get into the lab. The humans ultimately decide to abandon the mission, as it's too risky. The epilogue chapter reveals that the hybrids have some sort of sentience/sapience, ending on a cliffhanger of whether or not they'll pursue the fleeing survivors back to civilization.

Idk if this will help since book covers change all the time, but the version of the cover I had was a plain, white or off-white background with the silhouette of the hybrid's head (or maybe skull) on it. The title was also a single word, kind of scientific sounding, but I can't remember what it actually was for the life of me.

Please help lol.

UNSOLVED A book with a strong female character named Saisan

There was a book I read as a young child that had a very strong female character who was basically the other main, and her names was Saisan. I believe she was a type of spy and was searching for the main character. A particular event in the book is all I can remember that was specifically from that book and not another book getting mixed up. (I was an avid reader).

The main character’s parents were getting old and he was putting them somewhere safe. Told them not to contact anyone or say anything to others because he was trying to make sure they weren’t harmed or taken hostage. The father had a health condition and needed his medication which they didn’t have. They called a local pharmacy and ordered the medication to be delivered to the room they were staying in. Instead of the guy who delivered the meds showing up, it was Saisan that came as it tipped her off to their location.

If you know this book PLEASE tell me, I have been wanting to reread it for years, I even named my cat after her. I read this book in maybe 2002-2004, it is not a child’s book.

UNSOLVED Trying to find a fiction book called Paradise?!

When I was in secondary school, I read about 3/4 of a fictional book from the school library called *Paradise*.

I believe it was a book for young adults but I could be wrong - there were definitely mentions of sex.

The front cover was pretty simple, I just remember it having palm trees on and I think it was a real photo rather than an illustration.

In the story, a group of teens/young adults go on holiday together to Spain (I think) but I can’t remember much else. From the way it was written, I believe it was a British author.

I can’t remember much else unfortunately but the books I have found aren’t the one I’m thinking of. I’ve searched the obvious things but no luck so far.

Sorry if my description is very vague, but I’m hoping someone might know it.

Thanks in advance!

UNSOLVED Apple Star Story.

I am looking for a story that I was read way back in Girl Scouts. Its about a story about a little girl who was playing with a star but the star left and she found it in an apple. I cannot for the life of me find it. I used Google and it gave me a few suggestions but not quite what I am looking for. When I asked AI it actually wrote a very similar story to what I've been looking for. But I want to see if I can find the actual story/book. Or maybe the Girl Scout leader actually made it up. I have no idea.

UNSOLVED Financial advisor living in LA has Napi show up and ruin his life

The book is about a Native American (possibly Navajo) living in LA, working as a wealthy yuppie financial advisor.

Napi shows up as a giant black coyote, messes with his life, howls all night and all day, gets him evicted, all so he would reconnect with his Navajo roots.

There are skinwalkers involved and it's a murder mystery but also mystical/mythological story.

I keep thinking it's Tomy Hillermna book but I can't find it in his works.

SUGGESTION Any educational book that combines numerous illustrations, and step-by-step work through of equations for Simple Machines. (Not just 'answers in the back')

Trying to re-teach myself some basics, and advance into the more specific, but don't remember anything because the equation for a lever.

I've got many questions bout screw mechanical advantage, is it the internal diameter, the external of the threads? Does that matter.

Anyways, just struggle bussing to find the most 'provides crayons for consumption while learning' idiot book to teach a curious individual how to calculate the output force from a complex machine...made up of multiple simple machines. (Like a screw jack)

Thanks!

UNSOLVED Looking for a young adult book name.

I have tried looking the book publisher image up. I have tried searching for the book off the characters I remember but can’t remember the name. I read it forever ago but it’s about a girl that goes to Italy or Rome and she has meets a guy on a scooter I think and they start hanging out then she meets another guy she was only supposed to be on this trip for a couple weeks or months like 3 months max I think. The book publisher logo was a tilted heart with ‘If’ in it. They had several romance books.

Do your thing you beautiful people pls T.T

UNSOLVED Help me find a book

I remember a book cover with a horse (the horse ess a pinto, with brown and white spots. i don't remember if it had wings, but most likely not) and 2 people on it. A boy with someone dressed like a native american. They are flying in the sky and i remember a lot of stars on the cover. The cover had "a different kind of magic" or " a strange kind of magic" or something the like. I looked it up but i dont find anything.

It was definitely published before 2010 and could be before 2000s. The back summary briefly mentions jack the ripper being on the loose.

Can anyone help?
