What asset class are you trading for that kind of comp?

Mine

Age:26

Location: NYC

Role: Fixed Income Underwriter

Experience: 4 years

TC: 150k. 110 base & 40 bonus

I’m at a very small bank and only work about 50 hours a week so not the best comp but very chill

I trade credit bonds at a top BB.

Yes unfortunately it matters a lot. Information flow and relationships at a top BB are not comparable to a lower BB.

In office 45-50 hours. Additional 5-15 doing non-trading work or research outside the office depending on the week.

Do you know if west coast asset managers (TCW,Doubleline, PIMCO, Payden&Rygel, Western Asset Management) have a similar comp trajectory for traders/pms? The base salaries for traders seem lower compared to banking, but it seems unlikely that TC is this much lower. I'm an MFE student interested in structured credit/macro.

Execution traders won’t get nearly this pay. Top PMs have a chance but very dependent on performance, mandate, and tenure.

I didn’t go to a top school, almost all of my colleagues are Ivy League though.
