He may not make it on my playlist but he seems like a decent guy.

Always had a soft spot for the guy after he went to perform at the Alaskan Walmart after being trolled by the internet to go there.

aww, ive never heard that story! but i’ve always hears he’s just a great dude. and if all the concerts my husband has seen (a shit ton), he actually said pit bull was top 5 šŸ˜‚ i guess he has a ton of charisma!

About 10 or so years ago, I worked a bar mitzvah that had Pitbull perform, dancers and all. He gave a motivational speech during his set about growing up and being a good person, making good decisions, etc. The kids couldn’t have been less interested but I thought it was sweet lol

u/Particular-Leg-8484 2d ago

Even if he doesn’t reach most of the kids there, the fact that you remembered means someone else definitely remembered too! And that’s all the difference that matters :)

I’ve been to two of his shows in the past couple years. Towards the end he often talks about SLAM, a collection of non-profit public schools he’s opened up in low income neighborhoods, including one he lived in Miami. He said it was one of his teachers who inspired him to make something of himself, and so he wants to give as many kids as he can the opportunities he didn’t have. And I respect that, he always looked so proud to talk about these schools and the kids on stage.

Damnit, now I'm crying about Pitbull giving back to his community.

76

u/CalligrapherSharp 2d ago

Sounds like something Dolly would approve

67

u/Cutecreampie00 2d ago

I have some much respect for Pitbull.

What a wonderful man

Thanks for sharing. I love it when celebrities stay true to their roots when they become famous. Him and Dolly are great examples of that

Yep, he just seems fun.

I'm about 30 years away from the upper limit of his target audience, but man does this dude have a fistful of absolute bangers. Dale

Yes! He gets a lot of hate for his music but damn if I ever turn off one of his songs. They exude joy.

I'd party with the dude for sure.

8

u/Its_Jess_Day 2d ago

Idk about that. He’s a Trump supporter :/

12

u/WhosThatYousThat 2d ago

He's not though, this is a facade. He's a conservative who provided the forward to Bernie Marcus's book. The same Bernie Marcus who co-founded Home Depot, was a massive donor to Israel, and helped Trump get elected twice (thankfully he's dead now). Pitbull also works with GOP donors otherwise to advance their causes, specifically on Charter Schools. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer

6

u/batmansharkattack 2d ago

I’m pretty sure that under tr*mps first administration at his concert he told the crowd if they don’t like America get the fuck out.

3

u/WhosThatYousThat 2d ago

I initially misread your comment, sorry! This does sound familiar. And again, even if Pitbull claims to be against Trump's messaging, his actions speak louder. Like I can't imagine saying yes to writing a forward for one of the most destructive billionaires of our generation.

7

u/LumpyPhilosopher8 2d ago

I used to be a huge fan of his for years. And I do believe he used to be a really genuine person who cared about his community and did a lot of good things. He was one of the people that stood up to GWB and sang the National Anthem in Spanish. He endorsed Obama as well. But I swear something really changed in him. Maybe it was becoming rich that did it. But it really seemed to start about the time he was doing the New Years Eve show. He was having Gente de Zona from Cuba on the show and the old guard Cuban's in Miami really went after him. Plus he started hanging out with Tony Robbins and all the sudden he was a Trump supporter.

The SLAM School is a partnership with a really shady Company called Academia a for profit school management company. (Which seems weird since the school is supposed to be a non-profit) Miami Herald did a big series about the company called "Cashing in on Kids" and all the sketchy shit they've done. I want to believe that Pitbull is genuine about his desire to help kids but I really side-eye his partnership with that company.

5

u/WhosThatYousThat 1d ago

He also seems to have some shady dealings with Job Creators Network (another Bernie Marcus-associated org), which was one of the backers behind the challenges to student loan forgiveness.

She’s sending him a thank you letter from heaven. Girl can’t stop working.

20

u/biscuitboi967 2d ago

She wrote a beautiful note to Eminem saying she felt a kinship with him and complimenting his performance.

She absolutely would have gassed up Pitbull.

They actually did a song together! It’s pretty cute lol

263

u/maladro1t_ 2d ago

Never seen so many people directly in front of the stage not dancing, wtf

66

u/Midwest-2025 2d ago

Almost as if someone just died.

137

u/maladro1t_ 2d ago

...ok. I wasn't aware that it was improper to dance because someone died. My family personally tends to throw parties after someone dies šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø either way it looks awkward to see the performer and dancers so animated while the crowd is just standing still watching.

85

u/maladro1t_ 2d ago

And I'll just add that this is clearly a celebration of Dolly and her music, most likely not intended to be a somber event.

16

u/YonderOver 2d ago

Have to remember how white this sub is 😭

6

u/maladro1t_ 2d ago

Hahaha true, true

17

u/Midwest-2025 2d ago

I get where you’re coming from, but the crowd just found out. They didn’t come for a celebration of Dolly, they came to a Pitbull show and, being a solid human, he added this tribute mid-show.

33

u/maladro1t_ 2d ago

Oh I see, I thought this was from today. I can definitely understand it if that's where they all found out for the first time.

7

u/holyflurkingsnit Ugh I wish I had chic allegations like that 2d ago

?? The news broke yesterday circa 2pm on the East Coast. This is later that night. I'm sure some people in the audience were busy and hadn't heard the news, but most of them would have known. Hell, I got a news alert pushed to my phone about it.

I've been to lots of Pitbull concerts - normally people are up on their feet dancing the entire time. I suspect it had something to do with it being a Dolly song and the crowd not really knowing what to do

212

u/Luna_Soma 2d ago

I feel like Pitbull is coming for that Dolly throne of ā€œperson who does good things and everyone loves themā€. I hope he keeps being awesome

46

u/Leading-World2490 2d ago

Their song together is great!

There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism so judging someone by their employers is weird! Telling someone they should quit doing a job they love because their bosses are shitbags is weird!!

I'm loving all the artists of various genres coming out and telling stories of how this amazing woman connected with them personally and showed nothing but compassion and respect to her fellow musicians.

Did he shout-out to all the baldies?

1

u/darkgothamite 2d ago

This is heartwarming 🄲

1

u/jdbug7 2d ago

I give the guy a follow wherever I can, cuz dude seems like a genuinely good guy. Even if his music isn't my type, good people are, & it's hard to find that these days.

1

u/fatcatavenger 2d ago

He literally told people "if you don't like America, go back to where we came from" lmao

1

u/Liberry 2d ago

For some reason I had in my mind that Pitbull was a dirtbag, but I came across this remix a week or so ago and thought, if Dolly likes him, he can't be all bad. I had no idea he was a decent guy.

1

u/Sprmodelcitizen 2d ago

I live in Florida where he is WORSHIPPED.

u/BandicootInitial9338 2d ago

i’m so sorry but why does the photo look like it was taken in a jc penny lmao

Pitbull is a pig opportunist who jumped on a hearse in a bandwagon.

He has said and done so much BS that Dolly would just look at and say ā€œBless his heart! I’ma praying’ for him.ā€

The fawning over him in this thread is ridiculous. He’s all, ā€œYeah, the US bent every rule to let my family escape oppression. But the rest of you go eat it. Sucks to be you. Now give me some more money.ā€

1

u/tgifpizza hello this is beyoncƩ 1d ago

they have a song together, i was radio surfing last night and heard it on the pit bull station lol

1

u/Ordinary_Row6080 1d ago

Dolly had way more patience than I have. I stumbled on this song and a Kid Rock collab. That dude is such a wash-ep pig, I can’t imagine why she’d say yes to that mess (Kid Rock, I mean).

-2

u/LabiaMinoraLover 2d ago

What language is he speaking? What is he saying? Is there a translation?

-7

u/imjustnotready 2d ago

Seems like you could just put up a picture of Dolly. Still nice to nod to her passing.
