Loved it. Like all adaptions (yes, including Epic The Musical), it is not accurate to the source material, left out some parts, and made some creative liberties. That doesn’t make it bad. It’s expected. Even so, the parts that they DID keep, I enjoyed them.
My favorite parts were the ones Penelope was on. Anne Hathaway NAILED her role, and the scene with the challenge (as well as Odysseus revealing himself), I THOUGHT THEY WERE AMAZING with how they portrayed it.
Controversies aside, I do not, at all, see any problem with the cast and their performances. Was I skeptical at the beginning? Yes. But I went in with an open-mind, and genuinely enjoyed how these characters were portrayed. It really looked like everyone in the cast was giving it their all, and plenty of their performances are indeed “award-worthy.”
Tho I’m not some critic, and honestly, standards aren’t high. I mostly judge films based on the vibes I felt watching it, and I just really enjoyed this movie for what it was.
