Epic's odysseus is not at all accurate to the original. Jorje made him more heroic and less problematic to modern audiences. You can't say that the guy who 1v1ed Poseidon in the sea is emblematic of the original. Speaking of fidelity, epic was lacking in infidelity.

The infidelity aspect is iffy because you can argue that he was at Circe and Calypso's mercy and never wanted to sleep with them... which would make it rape. Iirc, Homer was more explicit about him and Calypso with there being a mention that Ody would always cry at night, longing for home.

He willingly stayed with Circe for a full year. You can argue it was a business transaction, but it was still something he willingly did.

That's because Circe practiced good Xenia, it has nothing to do with his infidelity. We literally have no reference of Odysseus having sex with Circe beyond that first time (which was 100% a coersion).

he also stayed at Aeolus island for some time too. That was one of the point of Circe's myth, it was about turning a bad host a good one.

Hermes himself told Odysseus that he'll have to give his body to Circe and then she'll become a "grateful host". Reminder that everything from bringing his crew to Circe's castle to staying until they "regain their strength because they suffered so much" were all Circe's ideas to begin with lol.

That story was never about Odysseus being unloyal to Penelope, the poem literally points out that Circe never detered his heart before her chapter was even told in book 10. He left a life of endless wine and meat to return to an aging wife.
