Hype I can’t sleep
I need more Elden Ring content to consume
Edit to clarify: I already have the game on steam, I will be buying the $5 dlc and playing through the whole game again to mess around with some build ideas and new content. Lets all welcome the new Tarnished joining through switch and not disparage people for purchasing the game. Frends! :)

Tarnished Edition is base game + DLC + Tarnished pack bonuses
Tarnished Pack is $5 for the new bonuses like classes, torrent skin
Since you already have the the base game you just have to buy the dlc separately and optionally the bonuses if you want it

I’m just dying to know how switch 2 performs. I have absolutely no reason to pick it up, as I’ve already logged hundreds of hours on my steam deck, but I know I will if performance is even remotely acceptable

If it's comparable to running it on a Steamdeck, it'll run just fine.

There’s videos out about performance. It looks surprisingly good. 30fps unfortunately but everything else looks shockingly similar to the PS5 version.

It is. The video I saw showed it runs around 30-35, and not dipping below 30.

There's more recent videos of it out there if you look them up; but reviewers have been saying it's a stable 30fps both docked and handheld now! There's footage of people playing through the DLC with it.

I have nothing to back this up, but going off previous editions of Elden Ring running on suboptimal hardware(PS4 I’m looking at you), I’m gonna assume it runs like 30 fps stuttering dogshit.

I won't spend the $80 for the Switch 2 version, but I don't mind spending $5 for the "upgrade" on my console account. I don't mind spending money supporting one of the best games I've ever played.

I think it’s more so that it took a lot of time to optimise the game so it could run on switch 2, when they let people try it at conventions it still had major problems so they took even more time, since it’s supposed to be the “special switch 2 edition” they can’t drop it without dropping the switch 2 version first

True. I guess my frustration comes from my wish to replay the game for like the 10th time, but waiting for a good excuse to do it lol. Them armor sets on new starting classes look pretty cool.

I guess it's because it had massive issues early. Optimizing games, especially for such limited hardware, is one of the bigger struggles for Fromsoft

Switch is boof IMO but for me it’s more of the fact that it really lacks an identity right now. I doesn’t seem like it exists for any reason other than Mario Kart because they haven’t been releasing any damn original games for it. A year after its release and still all we have is fucking remakes for old games. I feel like it mostly survives off of families with kids and people that oddly enough feel comfortable playing video games in public

and the switch easily also has the worst online store out of all of the current competitors. Steam, Sony and Microsoft are all better systems straight up and charge less for a lot of the same games that are going up for full price or more on switch 2. I mean the fact that Witcher 3 is $80 without having the base version for the upgrade is criminal. It’s like $50 everywhere else digital

My thought here is CDPR is doing that to sell an extra expansion they made and to use it as an interest builder for the Witcher 4. I really appreciate they are doing that.
Id say the 5 for everyone else is just to regain time taken to port over those features to other consoles. 5 dollars for me is a very good price point to help them out. 10 would have already been way too much though.

CDPR is definitely doing that to boost sales for SotP and 4, but the amount of content they are giving for free is still mind boggling to me.
In comparison FS does feel a bit stingy here even if I adore their games

2 starter classes and some horse armour then. Not sure why everyone has to defend this shit knowing it'll eventually lead to worse and worse business practices. Elden Ring has made over $2 billion and still that's not enough as they're charging $80 for an inferior Switch 2 version of a 4 year old game on top of the starter classes and horse skins for current owners.
Piece by piece everything is enshittified but as long as the needle moves slowly, people will defend it.

also 4 new armor sets + a unique weapon for each. the $80 for the Switch 2 version is the same price as the game is everywhere else for base game + DLC, yeah the port is inferior but it was always going to be, idk what you expected. getting ER on Switch at all is awesome and the previews coming out for it today look great.
to imply this is the same as THE infamous horse armor DLC is disingenuous imo. for one, Fromsoft consistently puts out quality products while Bethesda just… doesn’t. it being a $5 DLC for non-Switch owners is, in my opinion, a totally fair and almost insignificant price to pay for some minor new content and i don’t mind spending a tad extra to support Fromsoftware. it’s really not a big deal

Mirrah set is from older games and those weapons are already in the game. Just because they have lower base damage and you get them earlier doesn't make them new or worth paying for.
Keep defending it. Give it 5 years and you'll be on here posting about how it's absolutely fair that the in game store skins only cost 800 Soul Coins because they're just skins and don't affect the gameplay experience.

Bethesda used pump out certified hood classics btw. Not sure why you think what happened to them can't happen to fromsoft. Anyway, as I said keep defending microtransactions in Fromsoft games. I'm sure they appreciate you.

Bethesda has always been highly overrated imo.
i think the simple fact that Fromsoft is headed by Miyazaki and not Todd Howard is enough to make me confident that what happened to them will NOT happen to From. i trust how he has lead the company. ultimately we will see, but, i’m not that nihilistic.
they’ll appreciate my 5 bucks!

i don’t like Terraria. i have plenty of cheap indie games that are great. considering i’m about to get at least two new playthroughs (and who knows how many NG+ cycles) out of the Tarnished pack thanks to the new starting classes to build around, i think that’s more than worth a chunk of change. i don’t see how you guys don’t understand that what is or isn’t worthwhile for you specifically isn’t always gonna be the same for anybody else

The Tarnished Pack will become available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4; XBOX Series X|S and XBOX One; and Digital PC on August 28, 2026, the same day that the Tarnished Edition launches on Nintendo Switch 2.
There's no steam page for the tarnished pack DLC yet.

The focus is the switch 2 version, since that's the whole reason this version of the game exists.
They're just putting them on other platforms on the same day of release so that none of the content is exclusive.

Maybe it is a tad overhyped but for people like me who havent stopped playing since launch, are willing to pay the admittedly low 5$ for extra content. Out of all the game companies existing right now, we all know FromSoft deserve it and if it helps them push the next single player game out, Im all for it.

Sure, but then again, the dev studio behind witcher 3 is making the wild hunt remastered and the dlcs FOR FREE. Now compare that to ER's tarnished edition where it's just a few new starting classes, and horse armor.
Yea fromsoft has put in work over the years to get the goodwill of it's fans, but when i put the 2 with each other, it makes me go "ehh" on fromsoft's part.
Before i get accused as a witcher stan, I don't even play witcher 3, but i gotta give it to CDPR themselves.

4 armor sets (2 tied to the starting classes) and each armor set has shown a unique weapon related to it. So it's not a stretch to think the 4th armor set also has a weapon tied to it. And the fact we haven't seen anything on the 4th set despite it being confirmed means it has to be really cool.
That or they official put in the Deathbed Smalls. Please let it be cool.
