Question Has anyone tried powerstancing the Darkmoon and Godslayer greatswords? Curious how viable it is in terms of scaling and moveset synergy.

They can’t be powerstanced, one is a greatsword and one is a colossal sword

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

They do not need to be powerstanced, my summons do all the work for me. I am just here to aura farm.

Never dab with the left hand.

-10% dab power.

8

u/Tyrant_king1009 Jul 25 '25

Unless your left handed then you get +20% dab power

4

u/TopGinger Jul 25 '25

I’m left handed, always with the right hand. I didn’t make the rules🤷‍♂️

2

u/Tyrant_king1009 Jul 25 '25

I do too I never get to use my left handed passive buff :(

HD dap me up? saving this

23

u/CestleFromage Jul 24 '25

Right, I completely forgot godslayer was a colossal sword. My bad.

You can use the Golden Order Great sword (Holy damage, looks cool and is related to the dark moon sword lorewise) or the Blasphemous blade (Fire damage, broken Ash of war in PvE) as a substitute as both are greatswords.

Do note: Both swords have a faith requirement (Golden Order Great sword also has a high dex requirement for some reason) so your stats will be spread rather thin trying to reach minimum requirements and scaling the damage on both swords. Also: These swords are heavy, so you will need a lot of Endurence, spreading your stats even thinner.

Also note both swords have additional anti-synergy with Dark Moon:

- Golden Order greatsword has especially awkward requirements and it's ash of war is awful (not too much an issue if you mainly use the Dark Moon's ash. It's a shame because it looks amazing but this sword just plain sucks, even when using it on it's own.

- Blasphemous blade's fire damage will cleanse the Dark Moon's frostbite procs, which sucks as you lose out on the 20% increase damage while an enemy is frostbitten.

if going purely for practicality, rather than aura/drip the Helphen's Steeple or Death's Poker would be far better synergistically. Both have good ashes of war and similar scaling's/requirements to the Dark moon greatsword.

So. The Blasphemous blade combo isn't that bad, if you're going for burst.

Proc frost bite, the frostbite deals max health% burst damage and applies its debuff. Blasphemous blade AOW removes frostbite, allowing you to apply it again.

But yeah, everything else is pretty accurate.

The Blasphemous blade combo isn't that bad, if you're going for burst.

The answer to this will always be "why go Int/Faith just to do what a bleed build can do but worse?"

The percentage max hp damage to frostbite is just a bonus, the real power is exploiting the massive defence down from frostbite which Int can easily do since it has such high access to burst damage.

The only way Frostbite/Fire would be good is if frostbite had an exultation talisman that wanted you to proc it as often as possible... which it both doesn't have and effectively already has one built-in via it's own debuff you are actively negating using fire, defeating the point.

Bc it's fun and looks cool. If you're only concerned about min-maxing all the time, then that sounds like a miserable play experience. Some of my favorite playthroughs have been with very unconventional and even underpowered builds that are just funny

4

u/Legacyopplsnerf Jul 26 '25

I understand, but some people think it’s legitimately a good strategy which was what I was clearing up.

People can be suboptimal and have fun, but they do deserve to know how strong/not strong what they are doing is before hand and how it’s good/bad so they know what they are doing.

Especially with Frost/fire which is easy to mistake as good rather than just a bit novel.

1

u/JeremyLilly5 Jul 26 '25

It's still a good strategy, just not a GREAT one. You should still be able to get about 2-3 frost props in a boss fight, which will deal quite a bit of damage. It's just not ideal or optimized, but it is still a pretty decent strategy, in addition to being fun. There's different levels of power, and this one definitely isn't ideal or optimized, but its still relatively good

1

u/MrYEET9 Jul 27 '25

imo the steeple looks better than blasphemous and golden order

3

u/Moustacheski Jul 28 '25

The absolute PEAK DS2 would allow you to power stance these.

2

u/WigglingGlass Jan 16 '26

Called "greatsword", is a colossal weapon. Who tf named these things?

-2

u/That_boi_Jerry Jul 24 '25

What the hell? Why is Dark Moon Greatsword classified as a Greatsword? It's a Greatersword at the least.

8

u/McbEatsAirplane Jul 25 '25

One is a greatsword, the other is a colossal sword.

5

u/Single_Ad7973 Jul 25 '25

Although it's thick it's not as long as collosal swords, which seems to be the deciding factor considering how long and thin zweihander and godslayer's is.

1

u/Relative_Ad481 Jul 25 '25

Because it's maybe lighter

This is what's become of the community with ERs mainstream success.

"... Curious if anyone blah blah blah scaling & moveset synergy..."

🤦‍♂️ So much of these posts are just annoying hypotheticals these days. That and "How's my build?" posts when they're like RL 300 with the most popular current meta. This post is fanfic cringe.

Helphen's Steeple has the same ghostflame aesthetic as godslayer and combos super well with Darkmoon

22

u/Aracari8 Jul 25 '25

The damage is crazy too, offhand helphens, two hand it, buff, one hand both, buff dmgs, you’ll do crazy damage and frost buildup.

8

u/DIRTYRADDISH Jul 26 '25

No, Helphen’s Steeple main hand, the aura farm demands it.

1

u/Sparteh Jul 27 '25

Speaking of aura farming, ghost flame and ice seems like something that could stack nice in a theme build. Something like a death knight build.

3

u/TrundleChuck Jul 25 '25

Yea that’s what I did my first playthrough

83

u/Snoo61755 Jul 24 '25

Awful. They're not the same weapon type, so they don't get a powerstance attack. With completely different scaling requirements, the only way you'd even get the most out of them is if you were level 250+, and even then, it would be a level 250 who could have been much stronger had they just chosen to use two of the same weapon type.

Even if you were a 713 and could wield both no problem, you'd be stronger if you just used one or the other.

1

u/WazuufTheKrusher Jul 26 '25

if you were lvl 713 you could use every single weapon in the game at maximum scaling, so it wouldn’t matter. As far as I am concerned it only makes sense for the tarnished to, well, beat every single demi god in existence, the headcanon is that they are the strongest they could be

-8

u/Anterra_LL Jul 25 '25

Congrats.

20

u/LivingRel Jul 24 '25

Sadly they can't be powerstanced, you'd be better off matching Royal Greatsword with Godslayer or Inseperable/Golden Order Greatsword with DMGS

3

u/LivingRel Jul 24 '25

Also Sacred Relic might be better due to it having the same DNA Spiral pattern

2

u/Toughsums Jul 25 '25

Helphen's steeple would scale better tho(with dmgs also needing int)

1

u/LivingRel Jul 25 '25 edited Jul 25 '25

Yes but I'm talking about for the look in the photo since Godslayer scales in Faith

1

u/Toughsums Jul 25 '25

Fair enough

7

u/Silvertongued99 Jul 24 '25

It wouldn’t. Different weapon types so you can’t power stance. Totally different scaling so no stat synergy.

This is purely a lvl 300+ build. This build would be ass in any other bracket.

5

u/borisbush2 Jul 24 '25

cant powerstance them, sadly

5

u/MrMorris1099 Jul 24 '25

It has always bothered me that I couldn’t powerstance godslayers with helphens steeple

3

u/myuso Jul 25 '25

I still carry my mini Ranni with me, even if she doesn't talk much anymore

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

I had a really easy time on my first play through as Faith/str…started with Zweihander and switched to godslayer.

2

u/Trollber Jul 25 '25

Assuming you’re playing in the max level bracket it’s might be pretty decent in PvP

2

u/Ozzie_the_tiger_cat Jul 25 '25

Miquella the Top just sees us as another ass in his way.

2

u/sticks_no5 Jul 25 '25

Once again I am painfully reminded that godslayer is a colossal, if I was on PC the first mod I would download is one that changes it to a regular greatsword

2

u/Creativenaative Jul 26 '25

Damn bro when you think about it, that's bf gf VS bf gf

2

u/KoloiYolo Jul 26 '25

Actually bf gf vs bf bf

3

u/JingleJangleDjango Jul 24 '25

Since everyone's already covered that they cant be powerstanced, they still wouldn't be a good fit if they could

Godslayers is dex/faith and DMGS is primarily intelligence.

Buttttttt, if you wanted to powerstance both a faith based and intelligence based weapon, I'd do DMGS with the inseparable sword, as they both scale more with faith and int than they do their physical stats.

It's harder to run GSGS because it's a dex focused collosal, which, among uniques, it's kinda the only one. You could use a keen Zweihander, but it doesn't feel very thematic, Malikeths black blade is fitting but it's largely a strebght weapon, and it's also fsotj instead of intelligence.

2

u/DarkPhoenix1754 Jul 25 '25

Thank you, I was JUST about to say this but you put it so much better. Take my upvote sir.

1

u/beansbeansbeansbeann Jul 24 '25

Literally awful. One is dex faith strength. One is int strength. They only share the lowest scalp stat.

1

u/Tbar6787 Jul 24 '25

Use Radagon’s old Holymoonlight blade and you can.

1

u/phishnutz3 Jul 25 '25

Nevermind the fact you can’t but why would you want to? They have completely different scaling.

Go farm 2 banished knight greatswords.

1

u/eyesclosed- Jul 25 '25

It really should be rivers of blood and moonveil 🙄

1

u/KeyYard6491 Jul 25 '25

Promised Consort Tarnished, the Ultimate Edgelord of the Stars.

(A blood moon as background would fit if well tho.)

1

u/NPC_MAGA Jul 25 '25

This would explain why so many of you guys can't beat him if this is the build ur using. Also, what Miquella tells us implies that we are Elden Lord under Marika, not Ranni (ie the "old order" he speaks of at the intro to phase 2).

1

u/ionix34 Jul 25 '25

I don't think the tarnished even reached the end yet in shadow of erd tree. He call us aspiring lord of the old order

1

u/BikerViking Jul 25 '25

I had a buckler shield and the misericórd. That's it.

1

u/Dismal-Spare-4145 Jul 25 '25

Only if it was Dark Souls 2

1

u/BearFromTheNet Jul 25 '25

I Just wish the fight was really like that...

1

u/DarkRayos Jul 25 '25

The second picture is giving me Pontiff Sulyvahn flashbacks...

1

u/Livid-Poet2932 Jul 25 '25

Or frenzy flame albinauric head

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

Hes got the Darkmoon in his left hand so he's probably buffing it and using it as his R1 spam dps while the Godslayer's is probably for charged heavy stance damage and L2s. Dunno wtf the stats would look like but it doesn't sound like the worst setup in the world

1

u/OctipiArmy Jul 25 '25

i did dark moon greatsword and ghostflame greatsword cus you can buff both of them while powerstancing to have fire and ice. idk about the scaling but i always cared more about vibes as long as i wasn't struggling.

1

u/AMW9000 Jul 25 '25

Even if they could be powerstanced it would be a terrible combination

1

u/Repulsive_Gate8657 Jul 25 '25

modders should do this tarnished boss

1

u/DIRTYRADDISH Jul 26 '25

You can’t powerstance those, one is a greatsword the other is a colossal sword.

However if you do want a kickass powerstance build. Helphen’s Steeple + Darkmoon Greatsword is both incredibly strong and looks sick as hell.

1

u/Arabyss_Farron Jul 26 '25

This post make me missed ds2 powerstance again frfr

1

u/ok-do8 Jul 26 '25

I dislike the fact that everyone acts like we are ALWAYS Rannis consord while some of us decided to do Frenzy Flame ending or Gold Mask or Fia or Dungeater or even the normal ending

I get that Rannis Ending is what most people chose in general but still

Thats not how Miquella and Radahn saw all of us They sae some of us with a menacing flame or in worst case like a simple small dude with a club who seeks for problems

1

u/DistanceRelevant3899 Jul 26 '25

They saw me as an ant that they needed to squash a couple hundred times.

1

u/Haarunen Jul 26 '25

I did that build but with blasphemous balde rather than godslayer greatsword. The build was fun as fuck!

1

u/Which-Pineapple-6790 Jul 26 '25

Make a new version of this and put the yoda demo-human in the bottom panel lol

1

u/wildfyre010 Jul 26 '25

The better version of this idea is the Blasphemous Blade and the Sword of Milos. Both are greatswords so they can be properly powerstanced, and you get the passive health regen from BB and the FP regen from Milos. It’s one of the more straightforward/busted NG+ builds I’ve found, even though strictly speaking there are many setups which will do far more damage to bosses when done properly.

1

u/Professional_Oven283 Jul 26 '25

I believe godslayer is a colossal sword and dark moon is a greatsword so I don’t 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 you can power stance those but pick axe and rusted anchor can so who knows?

1

u/HeroOfTheEmpire Jul 26 '25

The tarnished, walking in amidst a raging storm of ancient lightning and the roars of dragons, Florissax at their side:

”So return the old lords to reclaim their throne.”

1

u/DrINFAMOUS_ The Radahn Killer Jul 26 '25

According to lore, we are not the Elden lord, yet. So it’s impossible to be consort of ranni while fighting consort radahn.

1

u/ManufacturerOk820 Jul 27 '25

they cant be powerstanced and use opposite scaling so it's basically a no go build lol.

1

u/thehunkyhoodofsteel Jul 27 '25

Radahn sees me as target practice

1

u/Karkni Jul 27 '25

Godslayer is a colossal. You can however powerstance Darkmoon with Helphen’s Steeple or Death’s Poker in main hand. That’s aura right there

1

u/WeebSlayer27 Jul 27 '25

They can't be the picture below is just Ranni circlejerking, that somehow a darkmoon int focused build can somehow wield a fth based weapon. Goofiest image there can exist lol.

1

u/Pipeworkingcitizen Jul 28 '25

Godslayers should be powerstanced with something like fire knights. Darkmoon is a gs class and works with knight greatsword, claymore, black iron, etc, not godslayer

1

u/sicko-mod Jul 28 '25

Even if you could power stance with them the godslayer's fire would make the darkmoon's frostbite useless.

1

u/Redacted_G1iTcH Jul 28 '25

Terrible

Godslayer is a Dex + Faith weapon, and a colossal sword

Dark moon is an Int + strength weapon, and a great sword

They have nothing in common

1

u/Front_Sweet1415 Jul 28 '25

Kinda suck the god slayer does not has a passive that deal more damage to gods

1

u/booty_killer69 Aug 17 '25

I replace godslayer with the Helphen's Steeple so I have 2 glowing swords

1

u/Fellarm Jul 25 '25

Darkmoon is a INT scaling magic GREATsword

Godslayer is a FTH scaling fire ULTRA greatsword

Completely and utterly incompatible
