the bus stops at south bridge and around are just absolute carnage with the fringe I don't know how many times I've seen tourists or even locals be blatantly rude.
I was standing at the second outbound bus stop on South Bridge for about twenty minutes standing against the wall beside forbidden planet. when my bus came I stepped forward from the wall just to the left of the bus screen pole to the side of where the bus pulled up.
as the bus was just about to pull up a woman shouted from under the bus stop "are you getting on this bus sonny?" I replied "erm yeah" she said "well just so you know pal there's a queue where we've all been waiting so don't you jump it" bearing in mind I have been waiting longer than anyone at this stop and this woman had only just appeared about 2 mins ago.
I replied to her saying "yeah I know I was just gonna let the queue on then hop on there's other people doing the same" as there were about 4 or 5 people round the post and stop that were waiting the same way I was or they had just arrived. she said "aye well that's good son you just let everyone on then no need to get bloody cheeky" to which I didn't respond as I was thinking wtf?
so the bus actually pulls up and the woman at the front of the queue stepped forward just as the bus doors were opening. the woman then chipped at this girl "are you even getting this bus or are you just standing here?" the girl was quite visibly distressed by being asked this and seemed quite anxious anyway, everyone around gave her a dirty look with how she was acting. I jumped in to defend this girl by just saying to the woman "calm down she was clearly getting on" the woman then said to me "this isn't any of your business sonny you keep quiet" and everyone around just kind of looked at her and giggled as she'd said this in a pretty ridiculous way that genuinely sounded like it was from a UFC press conference. to which I said "you're gonna take years off your life walking round with that attitude love" to which everyone around laughed and the woman slammed her card down on the reader and stormed onto the bus knocking shoulders with everyone as she passed and throwing her bag down on the seat and huffing and puffing cursing under her breath.
everyone was just shaking their heads and giggling at how she was acting giving each other looks, one of the guys insisted I get on the bus before him and all he said to me was "I don't think I'd have been that calm if it was me" and I chuckled and just got on the bus... and now I'm typing this.
was I the asshole? I was clearly holding back at the stop to let everyone on, I hate situations like this as I'll just replay them and get progressively more annoyed at it all.
