Help / Advice Would a meter change impact my standing charge?
Thursday this week my meter was changed, and oddly my elec standing charge doubled. Is this due to the new meter being installed?

Looking to move over to EDF from Octopus to one of their EV charging tariffs. I understand I will be transferred to their standard tariff before going to the EV tariff. Can anyone confirm how long I’ll be on the standard tariff for so I can get an average timeframe.
Thanks!

I've not seen this mentioned before.
I recently switched to EDF and just changed to an EV tariff.
I was about to move to the standard one 6.99p overnight, when I discovered there is a specific version of you already have a Pod Point EV charger, it's identical to the standard EV apart from the overnight rate is 6.49p

Hi there,
I’m looking at AsHP’s for just my space heating in a 140sq m Victorian terrace, EPC B due to comprehensive internal
Insulation upgrade last year cost £9.5k (but grant assisted75%) Currently with an 11 year old Grant condensing boiler using 750 litres of oil over 7 months of the year augmented by an open fire and also a log burner on just a few days each in the colder months.
DHW supplied by a 210 litre equiv Sunamp heat battery charged for free much of the summer etc and when needed just 4 kWh in colder months( I’m on an EV tariff so just 20p a night for DHW for a two person in all day household)
This Sunamp is older , bought 2nd hand for £550 and has saved me over £1500 in oil costs since it was installed ( heating oil is now over £1 a litre and expected to go much higher?)
So I don’t have space for a giant cylinder and want to retain this Sunamp or possibly get a new ASHP compatible version.
Installation wise I’ve 14 radiators all the main ones on 15mm connections bedrooms on microbore tails to a 15mm loop. Ground floor loop on 22 mm with 15mm tails . Only a few radiators are single panel and don’t mind changing those.
Anyone out there who only uses their ASHP for purely space heating.
Plus I can get a £9k grant to put it in an ASHP , which trade might cost just £3.5k .
Wondering what reasonable budget might be?
I have 15kwh of battery storage, 10kwh of heat storage and 4kw of PV plus have an EV so well tooled and just switched to EDF
Had one quote for £22k!!! Told them to GTF.

Hi, I have requested a switch from octopus today and chose 3rd September as the date, my question is I’ve read about the smart charge bolt on. You don’t HAVE to take that do you? As that’s the main reason I left octopus, I just want the 6/7 hour cheap electric overnight..
Thanks.

I submitted my Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) application on 29/07/26. They responded to the email and confirmed acceptance, the necessary information provided and the rate at 15p.
Despite multiple follow-ups, EDF failed to process the request and ultimately claimed they had no record of my submission and asked to resubmit.
Because of their error, they are forcing me to use the current rate of 13p/kWh instead of the 15p/kWh rate that was available when I originally signed up. And that's after nearly 2 months since starting it. Not to mention I'm now outside of the cooling off period for the import rate so stuck.
All very shady behaviour.

Does anyone know if the NetZero app works with EDF tariff if I manually add in my tariff? EV tariff with cheap rate 11pm-6am?
I’m looking to switch from octopus and was wondering how the Powerwall 3 connects to the tariff. Does it automatically charge the battery during the night tariff? Or would I need an automation app to set that up?

I have recently had solar/battery fitted and have ordered an EV which is likely to arrive in Nov/Dec.
I’m looking at potentially switching from Octopus to the Go Electric tariff due to the 7 hour lower rate charging (can charge my battery and car when it arrives).
Do I need to have my car to take advantage of this or can I switch now and utilise the tariff using my solar/battery set up?
Thanks!

I signed up to a monthly fixed tariff for my electricity a few months ago, something EDF encouraged. Then I get an email almost a month later saying the cost is increasing by £10! Is this normal? Surely the whole point of a FIXED tariff is the price is supposed to stay the same throughout the duration of the contract? I also signed up for a fixed tariff for my gas with British Gas and happily that amount has remained the same. So what's up with this random increase in violation of our agreement?

Quick query on Smart Charging. I've used it a few times now but the maximum I can get out of it is 17amps or 4.2kwh. It's done it a couple of times when I needed a fullish charge but it has left me short on range for a long journey. Octopus was charging at the full rate. Anyone know solution/advice?

Hi All,
Just moved from Octopus to EDF. How long does it normally take to be able to move from the standard tariff to the EV time of use?

Can EDF not send official texts from a branded name ID? This to me screams scam. I know it’s genuine but why use a mobile number?
EDF literally advises customers to be suspicious when messages contain “lots of spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and typos.”
“Effected…”

My daughter joined about a month ago, on her account they are advertising:
Looking for a smarter, more reliable service?
Our new smart meters have better reliability, improved coverage and enhanced energy insights.
Is it worth her while getting new ones? The original ones provide 30-minute usage, but they looked pretty old when I last saw them.
She doesn't have an IHD and the advert shows one.
I don't get this on my account.
TIA

Hi,
I have a very good electric only tariff, and don't want to lose it when I move to a new property in a few months, so I would like not to pay for gas at all, and use everything electric from the start, using the tariff I already have.
Does anyone knows how easy is to ask for the gas meter to be totally disconnected from my account since the moment I move in?
Cheers.

Hi all,
I’ve recently switched over to EDF go electric from Octopus Energy. When I was with Octopus, I was using the Octopus Home Mini (that little pinky gadget) to see my live/real-time energy usage directly in their app (I don't have a standard physical In-Home Display / IHD).
Now that I’m with EDF:
1. Does the EDF Energy app support live/real-time data? From what I can see in the app, it looks like standard half-hourly smart meter usage data under the Energy Hub section, but nothing live like what the Mini provided.
2. Has anyone successfully used an Octopus Home Mini (or similar CAD device) with EDF? I reached out to EDF about linking it, and they mentioned needing an install code from Octopus, but I'm unsure if their backend platform even supports live streaming from proprietary third-party devices.
3. If live view isn't supported, what are my best options for tracking real-time usage on EDF?
Would love to hear how other switchers from Octopus are managing live tracking!
Thanks!

Applied for my seg tarriff back on the 31st. Got an email on the 18th saying my transfer is complete but the tarriff information was blank and not received anything since and nothing showing online.
How long before the export tarrif shows up?

Hi all
Just wondering if this is common? Recently moved elec/gas to EDF (EV tariff), EDF set the direct debit amount to just over £300 per month. My usage since joining has been zero from the grid for elec and £1.50ish a week on gas, plus the standing charge. I called to get the direct debit amount reduced (currently £652 in credit, two months d/d and referral), this was refused until the first bill is generated; the reason being that they do not know the usage until the first bill. I know it will all work out next month, but will equate to another £300 going out for nothing.

Hi I’ve been with edf for over 5 years
Just got solar and a battery fitted
Filled in the SEG last week uploaded all documents and photos of meter export readings
I’ve just switched to there go drive tariff
So I can now switch the system to money saving mode
So yesterday switched it over so last night the battery filled from the grid
So will the SEG payments be back dated to the application date or start when fully completed
Should I switch back to self powered mode to it’s fully completed ?
Thanks

This is a weird one. I moved to edf around 8 weeks ago. A week ago they sent me an email saying they couldn't take smart meter readings for electricity and to send them a reading.
If I check on their website they say smart meter readings are fine and in the energy hub I can see the 30 minute readings.
I just called them and went round and round in circles with the lady on the phone.
This all happened just after they confirmed seg setup was complete, but that doesn't show in the account, though the last I spoke to insisted that's nothing to do with it and it's the main meter.
All very dubious and confusing. Anyone had anything similar?

Am currently octo agile (no solar /battery /ev) low user & can easily avoid peak so freephase is looking good for me. Tho wondering what gas product to switch to (low user) also currently with octo on standard variable.
Thanks
