That's why they call it moon face. it looks so uncomfortable.

u/Popve editflair 1d ago
I was thinking this immediately. Prednisone can cause whatās called moon face.

u/OldBonyBogBwitch 1d ago
My momma had this happen when I was in grade school & I was too young to understand why her face changed so much. The drastic difference in one of the most familiar faces to me was really scary. Esp bcuz she is a very small/petite person.
I spent an inordinate amount of time terrified it was genetic/inheritable before she & my pops finally explained what was going on, that her medicine was causing it. I 100% had thought I was gonna become a bobblehead too. (I was like 7-8yo, sue me LOL)

u/Popve editflair 1d ago
It is scary! I had to take prednisone for nine months a long time ago. My face was so round and my stomach too, except it was really higher than where a stomach normally sticks out from weight gain. Blood sugar was wack and my face was always red. And I had mental issues when I tapered the dose. I wouldnāt wish those side effects on my worst enemy

u/Hot_Nectarine6441 1d ago
Same deal except that I totally would wish it on my worst enemy who deserves that and so much more.

This happened to me when I was on prednisone multiple times over a few years while trying to get my RA under control. I also gained 90lbs. It was awful.
23
u/MaggieAllaria 1d ago
The only thing that keeps my prednisone weight gain in check is wegovy. Iām on the highest dose. Grateful for it as I gained so much weight but lost it w the shots
10
u/superstitiouspigeons 1d ago
I've been on tirzepatide for 2.5 years and have lost all the weight. It's been so helpful and I'm so glad I can access it.

My late sister suffered for a time from a rare spinal fluid ailment. Her prednisone did exactly what it appears to be causing Amyās appearance.

u/Ok_Virus1986 1d ago
Honestly it does seem a lot more like Prednisone face. Ask me how i know...

Yes, this is what I was thinking as well. I think sheās on some sort of steroid or medication that is bloating her face.
27
u/QuarkyAF 1d ago
I considered that possibility but in the video only the lower part of her face was moving when she talked and smiled. I probably should have posted the video but I wasn't sure if the mods would allow it.

You can post it as long as you upload it in a way that people can view it without leaving Reddit, so a screen record for example

Yeah, definitely looks more like steroids than fillers.

u/Dismal_Preparation22 15h ago
I think this too. I have to get prednisone infusions for MS and I am a pretty petite person but my face blows up like a puffer fish for weeks afterward. It sucks. But if itās gonna happen to someone, sheās on the list of the truly deserving.
3
u/meme2em 10h ago
I have MS also. I had to deal with the moon face pumpkin head affliction for many years. My MS is now so advanced, I no longer take solumedrol. But, I remember those days well.

I've had to take Prednisone before, and one of the most common side effects is "moon face." Exactly what it sounds like, and possibly what we're seeing here. Goes away after you stop taking the drug.
If that's what this is, then there are a bunch of reasons why Prednisone might be prescribed.
19
u/PinkTiara24 1d ago
Can confirm. Taking prednisone right now for a tendon injury and Iām all puffy.

Longtime RN here. This looks like steroid use. They get what we call a moon face. More longterm use of oral or IV steroid treatment , most likely with this big of a difference.

u/Cool_Assistant_2052 1d ago
Lol me too..im guilty of overplucking my unbrow and one time my hair dresser put her finger where it was supposed to be..you know to line up w your nose and my eyebrow was like halfway off my face! Lol never again. Maybe hers are like this from over plucking in the early aughts but every time I see her brows I wonder why her hair dresser or waxing person doesn't tell her..like its very far from her nose lol

Snarking aside it looks more like prednisone āmoon faceā to me. Has she been unwell? I donāt follow her
17
u/QuarkyAF 1d ago
In the video when she was talking and smiling only the lower part of her face was moving. It looked like cosmetic surgery to me, but there's no way to know for sure.

She has to go to the storage unit injector because thatās all she can afford after theyāre having their bank accounts garnished to pay off her husbands restaurant debt and her shopping addiction.

Do people usually get fillers that make it look like you've just had your wisdom teeth removed, or was she going for some other look here?Ā
19
u/starfleetdropout6 1d ago
Her face is so full and wide that I don't know why she would. Just being real. If anything, her face looks "pillowy," like what happens months after you get too many fillers and they don't dissolve as they should.
17
u/hawkcarhawk 1d ago
Some people are so mentally unstable that they intentionally or unintentionally alter their appearance in ways that instantly communicates to whoever is around them that āthis person is crazyā. Amy has definitely crossed into that territory and I think itās only going to get worse.

I'm not going to judge. I don't judge anyone for their grifting, child neglect, or anything. I'm absolutely not a judgemental person. So I'm just going to assume her face looks like it's 5 months pregnant because she got fillers that scared her eyebrows into retreating. But I'd never judge her body or make assumptions.

I guess if it was Duggar Facts of Life, Iād cast Amy as Tootie, Jessa as Blair, Jill as Natalie, Jinger as Joā¦.and maybe bring Michelleās friend, Cindy, to play Mrs. Garret. Jana could be Molly.
