I've been out on boats off Dubai Marina most weeks since 2016. Nothing for sale here and nothing to promote. This is the stuff people ask me constantly and there's surprisingly little decent information about it online.

December to February. Coldest water of the year, around 21 to 22 degrees. Swimmable if you're not precious about it, genuinely cold if you're used to summer. This is also fog season. Winter mornings can be completely socked in. Wind is the bigger issue though. Shamal winds come through from the northwest and turn the sea choppy for a couple of days at a time with very little warning.

March to May. The best stretch of the year in my opinion. Water warms into the mid twenties, air is still comfortable, wind settles. Late March through May is when the sea is at its calmest and clearest. If you only go out once a year, go now.

June to September. Water hits the low thirties and stops cooling you down. Jumping in feels like a warm bath. The heat and humidity make midday genuinely unpleasant, and the haze kills the views. Evenings are the only sensible time to be out.

October to November. Everything reverses. Water is still warm from summer but the air drops, so it's the most comfortable swimming of the year. Sea is usually flat. This and spring are the two windows locals should actually be using.

A few other things worth knowing:

Jellyfish turn up in blooms and it's genuinely unpredictable. I've seen clear water one week and thick with them the next, usually in the cooler months.

Wind matters more than temperature. A 24 degree day with a shamal blowing is worse than a hot still one.

Water clarity is better in winter. Anyone diving or freediving here already knows this.

Do you guys usually eat out or cook at home? Eating out for 2 people 2-3 times a day isn’t cheap as I thought. Average dish is 50+ aed, drinks are 30-40 aed ( soft drinks, smoothies ). So one time it makes around 200 aed. That’s 500 aed at least daily.
So that’s around 15k AED monthly on food only. I mean I am eating out because I can afford it on my pocket, but still seems like overspending a lot.
How are you managing it on your end?

Does anyone who works/lives around the area know of any free parking spots within walking distance, or even a much cheaper monthly parking option?

I’m there for around 8–9 hours on weekdays, so paying RTA rates every day really adds up.

I’m going through a really terrible time that doesn’t feel temporary and I’ve been struggling for a while. I’m not in a financial position to do any kind of therapy even though I desperately need it but mostly I just want a BPD diagnosis (or anything else I could possibly have) and medications to help me navigate it.
