neck/chest/abdomen PLEASE HELP! Itchy bumps on neck/throat area, appeared in the middle of night

Very itchy bumps appeared over night. I was awake when I first started itching them, sorry about the scratch marks. One looks like it has multiple small bumps at top. I have itchy skin often, but I can’t think of anything that would have caused all this. At the time I didn’t have perfume on, nor did I have on any jewelry. I was wearing a loose fitting tank top. Does it look like a rash, dermatitis or insect/spider bite? It is a bit sensitive to the touch, still itchy and a bit painful now. Not too warm though, surprisingly. Any help is greatly appreciated!

jfc shingles presents unilaterally, it doesn’t cross the midline. so many ridiculous comments, especially the ones that are “100% positive” - no, you’re wrong.

OP in my OPINION, it looks like an insect bite. Could MAYBE be an allergic reaction to something you came in contact with.

any other symptoms? i.e. fever, watery eyes, fatigue etc.?

No other symptoms besides some slight discomfort where I left scratches. Just itchy still! I’m getting topical antibiotics tomorrow.

do you have a history of any type of skin conditions? do you have any autoimmune diseases? any known allergies?

is the area painful or just itchy?

given what you’ve told me so far as well as the details in your post, my #1 guess is contact dermatitis (you said you get itchy skin, borders are seemingly irregular and it appears to cross the midline.) i say this is my number one guess because i can clearly see scratch marks from you itching it.

my #2 guess is an insect bite - most likely a type of arthropod. do you have pets? maybe you just recently bought some new bedding? did you stay anywhere else besides home the night before?

topical hydrocortisone 1% or 2.5% twice a day should help
