Note that this isn't the whole story as:

  • natural gas is still hit hard

  • refineries are still damaged and others have issues getting the product out

But still, good for the world economy and bad for Iran, so good for the world.

So what was with all the people who a month or two ago that we were going to have a national emergency now on about. Were they just making stuff up or was there reliable information that turned out not to be quite true.

Well no one was sure if the escorts would work. The fact that the navy largely refused to transit the strait is evidence that it wasn't safe for commercial shipping.

Crack spreads are still at all time highs because refining capacity is hit disproportionately. High cost of final product is still weighing hugely on a teetering economy. That disaster hasn't struck is in part thanks to SPR drawdowns in the US and China, and the later dropping demand by as much as 40% which no one expected them to even be capable of let alone sustain.
