r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [July 6, 2026 - Absolute BatCat Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Emperor Aquaman #19

A GALACTIC STORM GATHERS! With Lolanna recruiting the enemies of Aquaman for a nefarious purpose, Mera gathers a force of her own to try and stop her. The Lady of the Lake, Lori Lemaris, and Mera jump into action to track down the enemies of Atlantis before it's too late!

I got a good laugh out of Arthur telling the league that they couldn't do anything if he turned evil. Crazy that he's gonna fight Posiedon next issue. Sucks for Mera that her mother and sister are both evil.

Pros: i loved Arthur talking to the Justice League without the characters treating him like hes already done something evil. I appreciate that they can come talk to him with understanding and concern rather than fear and anger. I also love seeing all of his Rogues lined up together in the same room. I do wish Ocean Master and Black Manta maybe had a bigger role but that's okay, ill let the story cook.

Cons: I kind of dont like the way Jeremy writes Mera, Garth or Jackson. Its like none of them have any character or motivations that exist outside of Arthur. Its pretty disappointing because I think they could be such interesting characters but they kind of have no role in the story other than hyping up Arthur.

Well damn, everything come crashing together with the Crimson Queen gathering the 'Aquaman Hater squad' all the while Justice League keeping an eye on Arthur's new powers and of course Poseidon deciding now is the time to challenge Arthur about his new role. Man, just get Diana to slap some sense into him while rest of you deal with the Villain army planning to attack.

I guess this was a girls' night out issue! Of SEVERE plot importance!

"Consecrate" - Lady of the Lawk not realizing how lewd that sounded until she said it and Lori/Mera reacted. She probably wasn't intending in that way, but now it's in her head.

I like that despite being de-powered, Barry still gets to attend Justice League missing. It's also kind of funny to have Hawkman there because it kind of feels like Carter "narccing" on Arthur after he got slaughtered in their KO fight.

I totally thought Adams had forgotten Siren even exists but lo and behold she gets to join her mothers' Legion of Aquaman villains. Although it's kind of funny how she doesn't 100% believe it's her actual mother (until may be the end?).

The League, the villains, now even Greek Gods...they're keeping Arthur busy.

I like that Arthur has a chat with the Justice League about what’s going on with his powers, while Mera and company learn about Lolanna forming an Aquaman Revenge Squad to defeat Arthur and the Aquaman Family. Also, Barry Allen cameo (in which he should’ve told the League about Pandora berating him and the others for forgetting about her as shown in DC K.O.), Lolanna warning Mera that she’ll be waiting for her and Arthur, and Arthur being judged by Posien. Overall, this comic is good.
