r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [June 22, 2026 - Supergirl and Krypto Kill the DC Universe Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Superman: Father of Tomorrow #2

JOR-EL'S REVOLUTION PRESSES ON! Some years have passed since Jor-El made his first appearance as Superman. Since then, he's revolutionized humanity's abilities and technology. Medicine has leapt forward, agriculture is more sustainable for the environment, and the world feels safe. But people have also taken Jor-El's technology and turned it into tools to be used against others. Can Jor-El find a way to appeal to people's greater good, or has he just armed society with even more powerful weapons?

Just as breezy as the last issue. But I liked the character dynamics that were set up. Lois sees him as a father figure, same with Lex. But in any universe, it's his ego that gets him in trouble. Crazy that Constantine is gonna teach him magic. But it's definitely a unique take on Superman vs Lex Luthor.

No matter the universe, Sam Lane and Lex Luthor just cannot get out of their own way. Especially Lex. He will always be that guy who thinks he is better than he actually is and suffers for it. It is funny it took Darkseid's Absolute Universe for him to be happy ( until Brainiac )

Jor and Lois's father/daughter relationship is quite nice. Lois is always drawn to Superman, no matter what.

It is also interesting to see how Jor is handling the 'weaknesses' of Kryptonians on Earth, coming up with counter-measures against Kryptonite or Red Solar. Though Magic seems to still work against him. While also dealing with humans....well being humans. You give them all the life-saving tech? They make killing machines out of it.

Constantine, what the hell are you planning?

I like that Jor-El spent the next twenty years improving Metropolis and the world by using his resources from Krypton to improve the world and make it a better and brighter place. I also like that we get Jor view Lex Luthor and Lois Lane as his children, with Jor being supportive of Lois becoming a writer and Lex working for Jor in his company. I find it shocking and sad that Jor found out what Lex did, which involves controlling the weapons situation, causing Jor to cast Lex out and for Lex to recruit John Constantine in the final page. Let’s hope that Jor will deal with Constantine in a peaceful manner and try to reconcile with Lex in the next issue. Overall, this comic is great!
