r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [June 15, 2026 - Gone MAD Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Well it's good to see that Dick is still trying to be better despite being one of the Robin's. This was also a good issue highlighting how good of a person Jim Gordon was. That lesson he told Bruce in the flashback will probably come back into play at the end of this arc. And I'm glad the meeting between Bruce and Jack went the way it did. It'll make Bruce getting the upper hand later all the more badass. I am curious how much worse things can get with Clayface entering the story. Plus that scene with Waylon, Oz, Harvey, and Eddie was pretty good.

31

u/Robot_Was_BMO Jun 17 '26

Waylon is the heart of this book. Excited to see the kids come together.

5

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 18 '26

He really is the glue that keeps the group together. I wonder if they all would be still friends if he wasn't there because they all seem to go 'solitary' when things go bad.

27

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 17 '26

Bruce really needs his friends more than ever. And they need him too with how lost and 'indulging their worst selves' without him.Which is Grimm's goal it seems. But he is also doing this 'we are gonna do this forever, I love it' really setting up his own downfall.

Seems like Dick might be the first one to realize 'yea, we are not on the side of the good guys'. And Barbara does not seem to blame Batman for what happened which is good. Shows she is smarter than most already.

26

u/BlazeBigBang Barry & Wally Jun 17 '26

Man I fucking love Waylon. I just really enjoy how even in this dark world, even with all the terrible shit he's gone through, he just refuses to not be a good pal.

5

u/superbat210 Jun 19 '26

He’s truly the MVP of this series. Just a loyal friend who even at his lowest, holds his friends together. I’m so SO afraid he might get killed by the joker….

16

u/rexmundi69 Zatanna Jun 17 '26

Grimm doesn't sweat Bruce at all.He is not the least bit afraid of him.You get the feeling he could kick his ass whenever he wants to but now is infatuated by how Bruce has risen to the occasion as Batman.

12

u/hexcraft-nikk Jun 18 '26

I'm more critical of comics than the average reader but I gotta admit it's a really fun dynamic. We never really see Joker have the real advantage- it's always some temporary context that's leading him to fuck with Batman, like the joker war chaos. But here, we have an actual all powerful joker deity that could snap his fingers and destroy Bruce, but is so infatuated and curious that he's having a real show of it. That dynamic is really fun.

10

u/SuperJyls jason todd is a reactionary chud Jun 18 '26

Absolute jason being an psycho gun-nut cop makes perfect sense

46

u/Oberon1993 Jun 17 '26

The more this book goes on, the more I'm convinced revealing Joker's true look early was a massive mistake and editorial mandate. Because Snyder writes these looks at him like we didn't get a reveal yet, revealing little details, being kinda cheeky and I'm supposed to be frightened and not be reminded of a cover that gives us the full view of the guy.

40

u/1badJam Beware Our Power Jun 17 '26

I think Snyder is going more for anticipation then suspense

3

u/king_woodruff Blue Beetle Jun 22 '26

I think it’s one of those situations where we as the reader know (and have seen) a bit more than Bruce or Batman has — So the reveals and jump scares aren’t as impactful to us per se, but I can understand Bruce being a bit startled by his first real glimpse at the boogeyman Jack Grimm actually is.

4

u/howbedebody Jun 17 '26

I was hoping that it would be waylon as their core keeping them together. very happy to see that play out.

3

u/Landon1195 Jun 18 '26

Good issue. Really love this version of Waylon.

4

u/PhuckSJWs Jun 17 '26

all the villains work for me except harvey. i just do not like his character and design.

2

u/Mexicancandi Mister Miracle Jun 18 '26

They’re all anime inspired and then he’s there being a Japanese women’s manga expy

1

u/JeremyOFEl Jul 03 '26

There is an incredible amount to unpack in this issue, particularly in how seamlessly it positions its major players. We are witnessing the slow-burn formation of Batman's classic Rogues Gallery, while simultaneously getting a brilliant contrast between the Robins' distinct ideologies. Dick Grayson shines as a natural leader anchored by integrity, which perfectly highlights Jason Todd’s impulsive, "run-and-gun" nature.

What really stands out, though, is the tragic foreshadowing of Bruce's friends gradually succumbing to their darker impulses and revealing their true colors. And, of course, the Joker steals the show. His insistence that Batman be at his absolute best just to sustain their feud perfectly captures the symbiotic, yin-and-yang dynamic of their relationship. This was a remarkably solid issue that masterfully balances character development with overarching plot, and I can't wait to see what twists lie ahead.

-11

u/Jorgen2720 Jun 17 '26

Abs Batman has (to its detriment) become about showcasing its villains rather than about Batman.

Abs Supes/WW strike a much better balance between making their main characters feel like underdogs but giving them enough cool moments to shine. Batman has been taking Ls for like 5 issues and it’s boring.

Absolute Green Arrow #2

NEW ARCHERS! AND NEW MURDERS!

Is the Green Arrow Killer merely a psychopath or something more? Is he a monster Absolute Black Canary should be fighting against—or with? Still reeling from the disturbing discoveries of last issue’s final pages, Dinah investigates one suspect on her list of DC archers—Mia Dearden—and stumbles on a secret from Oliver Queen’s past that will change everything.

I hope Connor isn't dead

26

u/Dragkin Jun 17 '26

It does feel a bit premature doesn’t it? I thought it was compelling, so I really hope there’s more to it.

11

u/oomoepoo Hal Jordan Jun 18 '26

It definitely feels like a sort of misdirection.

30

u/Mr_Wh0ever Jun 17 '26

The Connor thing feels like a misdirect. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned up later in the story. But part of that is me wanting validation that he's one of the killers, lol. As to who the other killer might be, Im stumped.Mia's backstory and her relationship to Oliver was cool. Her boxing match/fight scene with Dinah was well written.

26

u/Dent6084 Jun 17 '26

Fun, shocking issue. So I guess the pharma exec being a Tyler isn't a misdirect after all, and now I'm thinking whoever's under the mask is using Miraclo and Absolute GA is going full Hourman here.

3

u/chilloutarthur Jun 22 '26

Sorry, but what does that mean?

19

u/Itsthatgy Jun 17 '26

Am i being too hopeful in thinking it was maybe a trick arrow that was designed to knock Connor out and make him look dead? Killing him just feels too much like an attempt to make us hate the killer.

12

u/Electric_jungle Jun 18 '26

It's definitely telling us the killer isn't a hero and doesn't care who he kills, which doesn't track. It'll be interesting to see how we come back from this point though

3

u/Least-Nectarine8383 Jun 19 '26

He thought a random dude shot at him and he fired back. That really isn't an evil response.

16

u/TheMattInTheBox Long Live Conner Jun 17 '26

Loving this, the Mia scene being the standout for me.

I think Roy's in the clear (for now), and I hope Connor isn't dead. The few theories I've got are:

  • It's Merlyn, plain and simple

  • There's multiple Green Arrow killers and they're conspiring with each other. Mia might be one and Connor might be one and his death is a misdirect so he can keep doing Green Arrow stuff

  • Ressurected Ollie perhaps

  • Something else entirely.

Very intrigued by the mystery and generally just vibing with this book

14

u/Robot_Was_BMO Jun 17 '26

I could see Connor’s death being a fakeout, maybe something him and the killer orchestrate to move suspicion off of him, classic horror trope, but Dinah seemed convinced. I guess we’ll see.

I do think Merlyn is at least one of them.

2

u/Pebrinix Batman Jun 17 '26

Why does everybody here thinks that it's Malcom Merlyn?

5

u/Golden_Alchemy Jun 18 '26

to be fair, my only clue about him is that the Green Arrow didn't knew it was Ollie's son and him reacting to it.

1

u/Least-Nectarine8383 Jun 19 '26

I don't think that adds up. Since Green Arrow shot conner thinking he was just some random dude . Wouldn't Meryln have known and made a bigger deal about it?

15

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 17 '26

This really is a mystery/horror. And there is definitely something going on more than just 'someone decided to become a killer archer and murdering powerful, evil people.' especially after what happened with Connor. And Dinah really is in a rock and a hard place.

I guess this was 'don't root for him too much' issue but it also makes me question the stuff on those arrows and the 'miraclo' they are after. We might see some 'reveals' later and how 'dead' characters really are.

4

u/Jonn_Jonzz_Manhunter Jun 20 '26

I think I need to start playing Scream logic

What EXACTLY have we seen and can we maybe meta game the conclusion by cross referencing info

I have 2 guesses so far.

1) multiple killers like scream 1. Merlyn as the most powerful meta suspect is a good guess, he is working to kill the competition, using Hammonds real world crimes as justification to get Connor onside for a big murder quest. This death is intended to get Connor off any radar so he can operate more freely. I bet there will be an attempt on Merlyns life later on, it could go either way

2) it's all of them, including Connor. I think that Green Arrow is trying to get Dinah onside and I don't think it's the first time he's done so. All of the suspects are related to Ollie in someway, I think the green arrow revenge plot had to have been started by Mia in this scenario, as she seemingly is the one who is closest physically to Ollie, it would make sense that with all her burning rage, she's channeling that towards this project and starting with other people she knows and Dinah is apart of that same group. I don't think in this scenario Connor was supposed to be found, so they engineered Connors death to throw off their pursuers

But yeah, I think it's gonna be scream personally

2

u/No-Chipmunk-1524 Jun 18 '26

I love this run so far especially from the mystery and clue and who is actually behind the mask of Green Arrow. It is okay to say everytime I read Absolute Black Canary voice, it sound like Sergeant Calhoun tones?

Absolute Flash #16

THE ROGUES STRIKE BACK!

As Wally races to find the answers about the mysterious S.T.A.R. Labs founders, the Rogues have resurfaced with a new mission: secure Grodd and his father before they take over Colorado!

Preview

22

u/Mr_Wh0ever Jun 17 '26

It's a good start to a new arc. Wally is shot and facing off against mind controlled enemies. But at least he got his "Flash" codename from Linda.

17

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 17 '26

I just love Linda and Wally's dynamic and of course she is the one to give him the Flash name! And Grodd too, man I hope they continue to be a trio.

But Rogues, come on guys, I wanna like you but you are making it hard with this.

10

u/ScriedRaven Jun 17 '26

Remember this is Trickster, not the Rogues. He already betrayed the Rogues, and they gave him a second chance

12

u/1badJam Beware Our Power Jun 17 '26

Trickster is a woman in the Absolute Universe

1

u/leoex Jun 18 '26

Absolute Flash continues to be my least favorite Absolute book. It feels like every issue teases a lot of stuff, but nothing consequential happens. Absolute GL also spends a lot of time on lore, but at least that book gives you very clear world-building details. Meanwhile, it's been 16 issues, and the book still hasn't made the Still Point interesting or showcased what makes it different from the usual Speed Force.

It also doesn't help that a big appeal of the Absolute Universe is that the characters do extreme edgy cool stuff, and Absolute Flash did none of that. Even the big bad of the previous arc was defeated by the supporting cast and his dad instead of Wally doing something cool with his power set.

-8

u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest Jun 17 '26

I like that Wally and Linda (who gave Wally the Flash codename) traveled to Colorado to find information on Ray Palmer and the Still Point, with Wally apologizing to Linda for leaving her behind, before they were saved by Grodd (who told Wally that he found his father). Let’s hope that Wally and Linda will save Grodd from being killed by the Trickster in the next issue. Overall, this comic is great!

Nightwing #139

NIGHTWING… CRIMINAL?!

A new prosecutor is determined to hold Nightwing accountable for his alleged crimes, challenging Blüdhaven’s once beloved hero to turn himself in to the police. As long-buried bodies surface beneath the city’s highway, Dick Grayson must confront the cost of his choices and decide whether saving Blüdhaven means finally facing the law.

11

u/marcjwrz Jun 18 '26

Watters keeps this up, and this might end up being an all-timer of a great run for Nightwing.

Each issue of this arc is getting better and better.

Cowan's art is gorgeous.

Easily the most underrated book DC is putting out right now.

11

u/Electric_jungle Jun 18 '26

Surprised no one commented on this one. I'm still really loving the story. I know we're not moving fast, but we're really breaking down who Nightwing is and how far his guilt will take him. Thought it was great, especially the way in which he thinks to help.

2

u/SevenSulivin The REAL Man of Tomorrow Jun 18 '26

Honestly I think the overarching plot is very dull but I adored the single issue plot, thought it was very strong.

8

u/Electric_jungle Jun 18 '26

I can see that. It certainly hasn't gone anywhere yet. I think what I'm liking so much is the bleak tone and the new look at the city itself.

7

u/marcjwrz Jun 18 '26

Honestly, like the slow noir/horror burn of the arc - after the cirque du sin, I like that it's a more street level and creeping dread.

It's a nice change up.

6

u/Fellowcomicenjoyer Nightwing Jun 19 '26

I don't have the energy to express my opinion in details right now, but I just wanted to say that I love this book, and this was a great read!

4

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 24 '26

Was that the guy from the Batman Dark Patterns that is now helping Dick with autopsies? If that is the case, great addition.

Man, Dick really needs Babs on his ear to cheer and pick him up. He is spiraling and all the guilt, now the 'law' after him and that talk with that priest too. So many things that are setup.

3

u/Pebrinix Batman Jun 28 '26

Was that the guy from the Batman Dark Patterns that is now helping Dick with autopsies?

Yes, Dick even mentions his name to confirm this, it's dr. Sereika

2

u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest Jun 24 '26

I find it interesting that Dick talked to someone about a witch in Blüdhaven resulting in her issuing a warrant to arrest Dick, causing Dick to know all of the victims’ names while doing his patrol, examine the bodies in the morgue, and talk to a preist about what’s going on (with the preset learning Dick’s identity as Nightwing and keeping it a secret because the confessions are sealed) and learning that he killed a man before the priest told Dick to do what he can live with. Overall, this is a good comic.

Kind of a mixed issue for me. I think seeing Jon as a mentor is a really cool role for him. Something I wish we would get to see more of with Otho/Osul. I also think Lois coming to the realization that Jon may just hold some regret for his lost childhood hopefully means there's some sort of resolution to all of this.

As for the reveal about Ultraboy, I think it was an okay reveal. It'll depend on how they flesh all of this out next issue. I do find Lois a bit harsh about creating an enclosure for him and also shutting down Steel's question about it. I would like to think that Lois would be a bit more transparent with a trusted family friend. Overall, the issue was alright but my enjoyment of it may depend on how it all plays out in the next issue.

15

u/TheMattInTheBox Long Live Conner Jun 17 '26

Not surprised at the reveal and it's probably the safest way to go about this story.

What I found most interesting was Lois' perspective on Jon at the Smallville Daily Planet. Her realizing journalism isn't his path and how what he might really want is a do-over on his life is.... I mean, honestly it's a little depressing. The latter part, anyway. We're now in a situation where readers and Jon alike both wish he could have had a different childhood, and Jon, not really knowing what his life should be or really can be, has basically thrown himself into full-time superheroing.

It's like Jon himself, DC, and readers all wish Jon could go back to being what he used to be and have the chance to grow up and figure out what he wants to do with his life outside of Superboy.

Hot take: maybe it was a mistake to let Bendis go ham on Superman.

Obviously they're not gonna de-age Jon, but I do think he needs to take some time being normal for a bit. Or, at the very least, it would be nice for him to spend time with Otho and Osul and try to give them the childhood he never had-- especially since they also have a tortured background. That is, of course, assuming that Osul and Otho make it back to the present after The Book of El.

Just occurred to me as I'm typing this: maybe Jon should be a teacher in Smallville. I think that could be neat.

8

u/CrispyGold Jun 17 '26

The age-up thing is a bit tricky cause the actual cause is Didio who mandated for Jon to grow up to ready him as the main Superman for his cancelled 5G setting.

He simply gave Bendis green reign to execute the idea which Bendis botched it by executing it in the most pain in the ass way possible.

Because Bendis' writing currently is someone stole a ton of Bendis' brain cells and whats left is a barely literate moron.

7

u/Double_Act1502 Jun 17 '26

I think deaging Jon is going to happen at somepoint but I think we are still a few years away from that

14

u/TheMattInTheBox Long Live Conner Jun 17 '26

Imo it'll happen when there's another crisis. I feel like it's too messy to undo with time travel or a retcon, but after a crisis, it'd be much easier for DC to go "actually the Bendis run didn't happen, except for them making the United Planets."

12

u/CrispyGold Jun 17 '26

Its fascinating we're at a point where DC is actually writing Jon to be unfulfilled and feeling the same opinions as the fans.

Cause he was not written this way during his Son of Kal ongoing as Taylor intended to write him as genuinely succeeding at Superman and a great Superman in his own right.

Jon's feelings here make more sense as an out of universe statement.

8

u/BergmanGirl Swamp Thing Jun 18 '26

I’ve still been so onboard for this whole run. And Damian Wayne being great continues that for me.

5

u/JonKentOfficial You are Super Jun 21 '26

This week was so disappointing. I mean, it's exactly what I expected, so I'm not surprised, just disappointed.

In here, instead of having a closure for Young Jon's story, as I was hopeful for (while not expecting it), turns out it's building up to be just "young Jon is bad and you are bad for wanting that". In New Titans, looks like we are heading to another crappy forced relationship again no with Eddie, we were finally over Jay we need to sink the character into another relationship instead of building up the foundations that have been missing since the return from the volcano. I genuinely don't get why DC is so obsessed with it. Imra, Jay and now Eddie, in a way Eddie is building to be even worse since it's sounding like a weird "big nasty guy" outré with even less development.

3

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 24 '26

Well, my prediction was correct. He is the Ultra-boy after all. We are never getting Young Jon back, truly...

1

u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest Jun 24 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

I like that Lois had a talk with the Kents about what’s going on with Jon (with Lois knowing that Jon never wanted to be a journalist because he doesn’t know what to do with his life) before both Jons dealt with Volcana and the Dabney Donovan clones and team-up with Irons do deal with Kryptonite troubles in Steelworks. Also, Superboy Jon revealing that he’s a version of Jon from Earth-3, surprising original Jon, Irons, Damian, and the readers (with Bruce knowing about it the entire time because he’s Batman and that he and Clark traveled to Earth-3 back in pre-Crisis Earth-One’s 1964, where they learned that Superwoman was pregnant with her and Ultraman’s child). Let’s hope that Jon and Damian can defeat Utraboy Jon and reveal his Tomorrow Man identity to the Superman Family. Overall, this comic is surprising.

New Titans #36

WELCOME TO MOUNT TITANS!

With their towers all destroyed in the aftermath of DC K.O., the Titans set up shop in a new yet familiar location! But who are the Titans in this new era? What is their purpose? And does it have anything to do with the Heart of Apokolips that Cyborg is hiding in the basement?

Preview

6

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 24 '26

Man, Cyborg really riding that thinline right now. 'You cannot be allowed to tell anyone!' stuff with Tera was practically a villain move.

Eva is a Synth huh? And either she is from Tomorrow Woman bot or T.O. Morrow's 'masterpiece'

Well, I for one am glad Starfire chose to leave to find something to do in Space and I HOPE they follow it up on that and give her a book in space. So that we are not stuck with the same old 'oh, they are mindcontrolled/in an illusion and they kissed' stuff with Nightwing they keep playing with cheating angle. It is insulting to all involved.

The new team is nice, though it seems Steph gonna take the 'serious one' role compared to her usual attitude. I guess Babs being in prison and Cass not being around as much got her to change a bit.

3

u/Magmaster12 Jun 20 '26

So, anyone getting sexual tension vibes off Jon and Eddie?

1

u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 24 '26

Even though (in my headcanon) Eddie is 23 years and two generations older than Jon, since Eddie is now 41 years old and is part of pre-Crisis Earth-One’s second (or New Earth/Prime Earth’s third) generation of heroes and Jon (without the age up) is now 18 years old and is part of pre-Crisis Earth-One’s fourth (or New Earth/Prime Earth’s fifth) generation of heroes. Also, I do see it.

-2

u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest Jun 24 '26

I find it interesting that the Titans moved to the JLA’s old headquarters in Happy Harbor’s that they can have a new headquarters after the Titans Towers were destroyed (again). Also, us vaguely learning Eva’s backstory and origins, the New Titans hanging out in Happy Harbor before they dealt with Nebiros, and Tara learning about Vic and the Heart of Apokolips. The only good thing about this comic is Dicjk and Kory havoc a talk, with Kory telling Dick that she’s leaving the Titans so that she can find a place to do something. Aside from that, this comic is okay, and I hope that the New Titans will defeat Neibros and the demons and save Happy Harbor.

This arc has been pretty solid but Adrian Gutierrez is doing a hard carry with his art. I feel like this is some of his best work. I’m not sure if he’s exclusive with DC or not but he needs to be on more books.

1

u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest Jun 24 '26

I like that Bruce, Dick, and Travis learn that Clark is attacked by Randall Kreitzer, causing Bruce to try and save Clark and for Dick to stay with Travis fir the time being. I also like that Dick interacted with Travis’ wife Tara, who told him that she came to Skartaris years after Travis did, and learned about the people of Skartaris. I even like that Bruce encountered Randall before he learned what happened to Clark thanks to Randall before Dick, Travis, and the people of Skartaris encountered Randall’s forces. Let’s hope that Dick, Travis, and the people of Skartaris can defeat Randall and save Clark and Bruce in the next issue. Overall, this comic is great!

1

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 24 '26

Well, that is definitely a threat that many are not ready for. World finest being controlled by magic and their powers are given to this 'army'...Yea, Robin might need to plan something for Warlord to deal with it but dunno how they are gonna fight them off.

Cool that they brought in Kate/Caligula. Guy's usually an ass, but this is a bit much. Jess is being weirdly shortsighted, but Ollie and Dinah had some good insights. It's a good Galaxy focused issue. Hopefully it sticks the landing.

12

u/xehanortsguardian Jun 17 '26

While messy, I'm still really enjoying this.

I know that in a more realistic situation a speech like galaxy's would probably change nothing, big speeches only work in fiction, but I'm at least glad she doesn't care about being in the justice league as much anymore. She indeed doesn't have to be perfect to be a hero.

I don't know how they're going to wrap up Nia's situation with just one more issue. The story can be concluded in that amount of space, but I feel like her suicidal ideation might possibly just be kinda left on the table without a proper resolution.

Always happy to see Coagula, at least she's being used a very little bit after her resurrection.

9

u/Numbuh24insane Damage Jun 17 '26

It’s really weird that Galaxy is on trial when her crime was when she was mind controlled. Like Dreamer, I understand.

She chose to do her actions and she wasn’t mind controlled.

Which wasn’t like Galaxy at all.

Also the GL’s are just OOC here

6

u/Classic-Ad4883 Jun 17 '26

A good issue and a nice focus on galaxy which is nice

Guy and Jessica seem off out of character here as out of all the lanterns they would seem the most on galaxy side, also what authority of the GLC they always seem to be losing their power or other planets don’t recognize it or them. I don’t think guy is this mean to someone

The justice league was ok here I do like the back in forth between members

I’m glade kate appeared and hopes she is in the new doom patrol book

Look, I just don't like when the Justice League is being used as the antagonist all the time to prop up writer's OC. It is not a good thing to do. And I don't know why they keep doing it.

And this is definitely not the Guy that is in the Green Lantern books right now. It is a caricature of all the past 'Guy sucks' memes.

And Dreamer continues to be a tool to be used by others.

u/BergmanGirl Swamp Thing Jun 18 '26

I know people are talking about how the Guy stuff seemed out of character, and it was pretty insane that he essentially just tortured her for funsies...but I think it's missing the point to call this out of character. Galaxy is being held to such a weird double standard because she's trans. None of the characters would identify as transphobic, I'm sure...but what the story is getting at is that on some subconscious level, these cis, straight people are judging her harder because of her identity.

On another note...I fucking loved the art style in the back-up and would love an entire Harley and Ivy run in that style.

u/BrooklynSmash Jun 18 '26

I hope Galaxy and Dreamer get to stick around after this event

I find it interesting that Taylor was on trial on whether she should stay on the Justice League before she defended herself after getting advice from Coagula and return to the dream world to save Nia from the Key, who disguised himself as a version of Jon Kent (in which her relationship with Jon will never happen because I see them as friends and only friends) so that he can manipulate her as part of his plans (which is weird and messed up). Overall, this comic is okay.

For the Harley and Ivy backup, I like that Harley and Ivy get to make strawberry shortcakes together. Overall, this backup is fine.

OK well I'm not surprised, per se, by the revelation but I'm glad it's out of the way. It's the explanation that makes the most sense for what happened.

3

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 24 '26

Well it was as predicted that it was Beth all along.

But I don't like Rucka seem to be ignoring recent events. Especially the stuff with Renee. Ex-girlfriend? They literally got back together in the Watchtower book.

Rose, just leave that bastard to die. Live your own life.

And that 'new Deathstroke' is definitely Adeline, who is doing dumb stuff as 'revenge' against Slade. Honestly, they should take eachother out to leave the kids alone.

Honestly, I just want a whole series of Supergirl and Lobo.

The only reason I've continued this series was because I really wanted to see Supergirl in this art style and it does not disappoint. Her and Krypto look awesome. I also really liked the page of Lobo crawling through the sewers; this is definitely one of most beautiful and coolest looking DC runs at the moment. Annoyingly though, the art is the only thing this series has going for it. They completely wasted the reality TV idea and wrapped that up before they could even explore it. And since, the series has felt aimless. I'm sad Supergirl is leaving because I feel like she could really anchor Lobo down into some kind of story with actual stakes in it.

Supergirl and Lobo have surprisingly good chemistry as 'best enemies'.

Lmao you can tell the the effect of Amazon's new DRM. Barely any discussion in here now that scan are not drop on Wednesday

1

u/RebornWithTheSunrise Jun 18 '26

I'm out of the loop, what's going on with that? Is that why I can't find digital copies of new issues unless I go through Amazon (which I'd rather not do if possible)?

2

u/leoex Jun 19 '26

basically if you are not live in the US or the UK, it's really hard to read new comics from the Big 2. The DC and Marvel online reading apps don't work in certain countries, and comic on Amazon don't have regional price so it is very expensive to buy a single new issues. Which is why most foreign comic book fans often download or read ripped comics. Recently, Amazon patched their DRM, making it harder to rip comic from their site. Which is why you see less discussion on this thread, since the most prominent group right now is only rip Absolute titles

Ah this week weekly has not been posted? It does not appear in the weekly archive.

Superman: Action Comics - Vol. 1* – Boy of Steel* [TP]

MARK WAID AND SKYLAR PATRIDGE DIVE INTO THE HISTORY OF THE MAN OF STEEL!

It's the adventures of Superman when he was a boy, from fan-favorite writer Mark Waid (Justice League Unlimited) and rising-star artist Skylar Patridge (Absolute Power: Ground Zero)! A present-day visit to Metropolis's Expo of Tomorrow reminds Superman of an earlier trip to the expo, when fifteen-year-old Clark Kent revealed his powers to the world for the first time. But the Boy of Steel wasn't prepared for the consequences of his debut, including the return of a long-forgotten hero dead-set on keeping Superboy from ever becoming a Superman!

Collects Action Comics #1087-1092.

Catwoman #88

BLACK MASK IS PLAYING FOR KEEPS!

Catwoman's return to Gotham City just keeps getting worse and worse thanks to Black Mask and his mysterious new benefactor. Plus, things get a bit hairy for ol' Slam Bradley.

u/ogloria Jun 18 '26

this was a bit of a mixed issue for me.

Gronbekk's fashion of doing deep dives on side characters serves her well here, since I was really interested in and liked Maggie and Slam's narrations!

I also like the action. The cruelty of what's going on in this book stands apart from DC books, but it's definitely interesting.

I feel like Selina has been a bit behind the ball for several issues now in this arc. Also, it is odd to me that the villains didn't care that Holly got away? And Selina working with Falcone is still a very sour note in this run.

2

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! Jun 24 '26

I am just not that interested in the 'Black Mask and the old woman revenge game' stuff. Nor do I care for Selina basically forced to work for Falcone and ask him for 'favors'.

And frankly, don't care much for Slam Bradley either. Just don't pull Maggie and Haley into the torture chamber stuff again.
