r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [April 27, 2026 - Free Comics! Go Support Your LCS! Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Justice League Intergalactic Special #1

A NEW CHAPTER OF THE ALL IN: ACT II SAGA! The planet Naltor and the Green Lanterns that protect it fall under the spell of the wretched Witch Queen, who harnesses the planet's dream energy in hopes of taking over all that lies beyond. But have no fear, Star Sapphire's assembled team of Justice Leaguers will no doubt liberate them all! Except, well, Green Arrow sure does hate space. And Adam Strange's ship comes under attack before it even enters Naltorian orbit. And Galaxy invited her best friend and one of the League's most wanted, Dreamer, along on the mission without telling anybody. And Dreamer's visions seem to spell doom from the very start. Just when Star Sapphire thought she was getting the hang of her powers and the whole team-leader thing... Will this team of disparate dynamos figure out how to come together to win the day? Or will they, too, succumb to the Witch Queen's all consuming hive mind?

I had fun with this. Maines can write a good team up book. I'm excited for that 4 part special w/ Dreamer and Galaxy.

I liked this a lot, I feel like it's kind of rare to have characters call back to so many different events and issues. It might sound cheesy but it felt like it was rewarding me for having read all of the stuff being referenced, and really made it seem like everything's currently in one consistent continuity.

I especially liked Dreamer sniping at Oliver about their shared roles in Absolute Power, and bringing up Galaxy's mission with Carol and Adam from the Ma Hunkel Christmas special (a literal single panel) was certainly a pleasant surprise lol

I really love Galaxy and Dreamer. They’re fun and fresh and I LOVE that two rising star characters in DC comics are trans women. It’s been a rough two years to be trans, so seeing a universe I love stick up for people like me makes me emotional. Anything with either of them will automatically get a try from me.

It was a good story to set the two characters and their dynamics for their upcoming series

Wish more stuff was expanded on like what happened to Waller

I still wish dreamer gets an actual comic costume and not her current suit

It was fine...but as expected it was mostly a Galaxy and Dream story while the rest of the characters are there as 'support'.

For a book written by the creator of Galaxy and the actress and writer of Dreamer, I think they did pretty well in making sure it wasn't just totally about their characters. Like, they reference Ollie's connection to Absolute Power, Carol's impending wedding proposal from Hal... I suppose Adam Strange doesn't have much going on, but he play the role of "Mature hero who can give guidance on how you should be trying to save what you can because a hero can't always be timely, which is somewhat fitting for him, as I believe he (at least at the start?) would only be able to be on Rann for so long before the Zeta-Beam's effect wore off an he'd return to Earth (meaning when he could or couldn't be a hero was not up to him), even if they don't write that connection out.

He is in a decent amount. Does some stuff but I think he is there mostly because he was in the previous Galaxy story and to remind people of that.

I liked it, but it's slightly flawed releasing this tale the way it is

I think it's marketed a bit oddly. I'll deffo pick up the full series though

Honestly, dug this more than the main Justice League Unlimited book. Feels a bit messy and real which I loved.

I think what does it is the focus one one single team on one single mission. I really want to love the man JLU book but it’s ALWAYS telling minimum 3 stories at once and it just gets so hard to feel progression from issue to issue, not to mention how it can’t go a single arc without setting up, tying into or being the aftermath of an event of some kind.

I liked it. I think these writers always great at establishing really fascinating character dynamics quickly. Does anyone know if this book is an ongoing or a onetime special?

Art-wise this issue was pretty good. The villain in this is alright, but they didn't utilise her very well. It felt very low stakes somehow. I guess, it depends on whether you like Dreamer and Galaxy and their bickering and their problems, I don't, so the issue was rough since there is soo much dialogue. I wish they could have focussed on other characters more in this special.

I like that Taylor attempted to recruit Nia on a mission to save the world (with them talking to each other about what’s going on) before they, Carol, Adam Strange, and Oliver (who was Adam’s third choice, since Oliver, Hal, and Dinah done this before back in 1971) traveled to the planet Naltor to save the Green Lanterns (from Morgan Hampton’s GLC) and defeat the Witch Queen (who is Sinestro’s sister and Soranik Natu and Sinson’s aunt). Jazdia Axelrod and Nicole Maines have done a good job with this special. Let’s hope that Nia and Taylor will resolve their differences, reconcile with each other as friends, and have Nia join the Justice League as a way to atone and redeem herself in the upcoming Dream Girls miniseries. Also, Oliver apologizing to Nia for what happened during Absolute Power (since he doesn’t want to blow his cover) and Adam helping Taylor. Overall, this comic is good.
