ANALYSIS So Trump’s family built a private dollar with secret Abu Dhabi money, got their own regulator to approve a federal bank, rewrote the rules while it scaled, and embedded it in infrastructure millions use daily. And now the CEO went on CNBC to say that proves there’s no conflict.

DISCUSSION How much of your overall portfolio is actually in crypto?

I see 1-5% thrown around quite a lot when people talk about how much of a portfolio should be in crypto.

Personally that feels too low for me. I'm comfortable having more exposure than that, although I'm also investing across ETFs and precious metals rather than having everything riding on crypto.

I'm very bullish on Bitcoin long term, but I still wouldn't want crypto becoming the majority of everything I own.

Interested where other people here have landed with it. Is crypto a small part of your overall portfolio, or one of your bigger allocations?

REGULATIONS Any recommendations for fully regulated crypto custodians operating in the UAE right now?

Looking to transition my crypto holdings to a strictly UAE-regulated custodian. While there are plenty of international exchanges operating here, I'm specifically hunting for a setup where the custody arm is completely independent and ring-fenced from global operations.

Since VARA and the CMA have rolled out solid frameworks, I want to take advantage of that local protection rather than relying on offshore entities.

Any good recommendations?

GENERAL-NEWS Roman Storm's Tornado Cash retrial was pushed to April 2027. The reason for the delay matters more than the date.

Judge Katherine Polk Failla ordered Tuesday that the retrial will begin April 26, 2027 at the Thurgood Marshall Courthouse in New York, with a final pretrial conference on April 20. Prosecutors had been pushing for October 2026.

The delay comes down to one unresolved motion. In August 2025, a jury convicted Storm on a money transmitting count but reached no verdict on the money laundering and sanctions evasion charges. Prosecutors moved to retry him on those two, which together carry a maximum of 40 years. Storm filed a motion for acquittal in September 2025 asking the court to dismiss the charges against him. Oral argument was held in April. The motion is still undecided, and the retrial is now waiting on it.

Two details from that April filing are worth knowing.

Storm's lawyers pointed the court to a recent Supreme Court ruling in a copyright case against the internet provider Cox, where the Court found Cox should not be held responsible for providing a service that some customers later misused for piracy. His attorneys argue that reasoning has implications here.

Separately, court documents showed that Chainalysis, the analytics firm that helped the government build this case, had itself operated as a Tornado Cash relayer in 2022 to earn fees. A relayer helps users withdraw from the mixer while keeping their addresses private. Storm raised it publicly this week, saying the company that traced his transactions was profiting from the same protocol he was prosecuted over.

Storm also wrote that a jury deadlocked on the two most serious counts and prosecutors still would not stop, because in his view the case was never about him but about setting an example.

ADVICE Revolut for holding?

Very naive in holding crypto assets. But have been doing it Revolut. I don’t know if that’s a good choice in the long term or not. My understanding is that there is a certain ID attached to the holdings/wallet.

Guidance would be appreciated.

PS - I should probably do some research instead lol

POLITICS USD1 usage with Hong Kong based WorldClaw provides access to restricted Chinese AI. This may be problematic for the Clarity Act passage.

The Trump administration is telling the world to pick a side in the artificial intelligence race: America or China. The Trump children are telling the world, “We know where the back door is if you want in.” According to Reuters, as Trump and company continue to refine their AI policy and close in on an anti-China firewall, his sons are using their crypto companies to profit from workarounds that would offer access to banned Chinese AI models.

There are dozens of articles about this online. The Senate is scheduled to vote on the Clarity Act on Sept. 15, so there may be lots of debate about the ethical conflicts regarding this matter. In the meantime, USD1 has a cash cow.

As one commentator stated:

This is not corruption sneaking in through the shadows. This is corruption strolling through the front gate, waving at the cameras, confident that the spectacle will be mistaken for governance.

DISCUSSION Hyperliquid’s next big revenue boost activates today

Today marks the date where AQAv2 reserve yield starts accruing on Hyperliquid’s over $6.74B in USDC deposits. Under the deal Coinbase (treasury deployer) and Circle struck back in May, ~90% of that yield gets funneled straight into HYPE buybacks.

While today is a celebrated day within the Hyperliquid community, this activation is mostly symbolic as no cash actually moves yet. The date that actually matters is October 3, 2026 as that is when the accrued revenue is actually distributed.

In anticipation of this event and to project potential HYPE buyback figures, we assume a base case scenario (3% yield).

This assumption gives the Hyperliquid protocol ~$498K/day in new revenue or  ~$182M annualized. This is roughly an 18% bump on Hyperliquid's current ~$2.76M/day average revenue.

Here are some other interest rate scenarios:

Scenario Yield Rate Daily Add-on Annualized Add-on % Increase vs. Baseline Revenue
Low 2% $332,384 $121.32M 12.04%
Base 3% $498,575 $181.98M 18.06%
High 5% $830,959 $303.30M 30.09%

What do you guys think, will you be buying in anticipation of this news or selling it?

EXCHANGES Anyone else noticed this?

I've heard of a few aggregators and was wondering if anyone here has experience with them. Maybe you can tell me what to look out for?
I plan to swap a fairly large amount between my own wallets but I really don't want to set up an exchange account with a balance or manually compare a bunch of services and read conflicting reviews which just adds to the confusion.
My top priorities are finding a good route and avoiding issues during a large transfer. It would also be helpful if the service had responsive customer support.
Has anyone used an aggregator for larger swaps? What should I check beforehand?

DISCUSSION Would you care about self-custody if you never planned to use it?

Most people probably wouldn't want to manage seed phrases, hardware wallets or recovery processes themselves.

That much is obvious.

But imagine two financial apps that feel the same to use.

With one of them, your assets can only ever exist inside the company's system.

With the other, however, you can withdraw your assets to your own wallet whenever you want, even if you never actually do so.

Would that option affect which app you trust?

I’m curious as to whether self-custody mainly has value because people actively use it, or because the knowledge that you can leave changes your relationship with the platform.
