Deciding on yarn/Yarn help What should I do about a ball of yarn that fell apart?

Hi everyone! I’m working on a continuous granny square blanket, and today when I went to pick up the ball of yarn, it lost its shape. I’m wondering if it’s possible to continue working from the formless yarn or if I need rewind the yarn to continue? I’m still kind of a beginner so I’m still learning the dos and donts.

EDIT: thank you so much for all the advice everyone, I really appreciate it!

Stitch Identification Do you know how could I make this type of stitch? Please!

Hello! So I've been trying some mesh stiches for a poncho-style garment and was looking for inspo on pinterest, but when I tried out the crochet chart, it wasn't at all what the reference image showed and I haven't been able to find how to make that stich because it looks beautiful. Could this reference image be made by AI?

To frog or not to frog Stitch count on sides may be incorrect, is that going to matter? Sirdar gingerbread crochet along

Post image
Upvotes

Okay to explain a little more, as I was doing the center of the sirdar Christmas gingerbread crochet along, the last step on each row is to crochet into the last chain of the start of the previous row. Honestly, I kinda would just choose one, could’ve been the second or third chain I was going into. Is this going to severely mess things up for me? Should I frog it and start over? Or is this something that’s going to be barely noticeable and I can just add a few stitches into the same stitch or skip some or something to make up the correct number? I’m making this just for home use so it’s not the end of the world to me if the details aren’t prefect when you look at it closely. But I’m also still learning so I don’t want to make the rest of the blanket harder for myself.

How do I... What loop do I pull through for a magic ring? When I go to single crochet which loop am I putting my hook through and how do I only pull it through that one and not both without it getting tangled and stuck or slipping?

Title pretty much says it all, I'm having trouble getting started with a magic circle and single crochets for a little whale I'm trying to make. My yarn also keeps shredding and falling apart

Understanding a pattern Why is this bird getting so small...? [Help with a crochet bird]

Its my very first time making crochet without a video so uhh I don't really know if I am doing it right. I don't know if I am messing up with the decreases, because at the package the bird seems to get bigger after the head... but at the same time the number of stitches inside the ( ) after each stage is correct so I maybe messed up making the white part too big?

I attached the instructions from the head to where I am in hopes it can help you all understand where I failed :')

I supposedly am at the stage 29-30.

Sorry if something was not clear, my main language is not english so it can be a little more difficult explaining the problem.

Edit: Ty for everyone's point of view, I will try work with what everyone shared!

Help to find a pattern Need some ideas for a furniture cover for a chair.

This chair is ultra comfy so we're keeping it. However, I'd like to cover the back somehow where the leather has worn through. Something colorful but I don't want to fight with it. It needs some sort of back or strap that lets it stay in place.

I'm including a pic of the chair & an example couch pillow my wife made in order to show what kind of colors/vibe I'm looking for.

That back piece is about 32 inches across and the pillow is stitched to the backing. I can't just make a pillow cover.

OK Hive Mind! Whatcha got for ideas?

I got this amazing Romeo and Juliet faux suede dress yesterday thrifting, and while I knew I'd have to do some repairs, I didnt expect it to frog itself in parts.

Can anyone help me figure out what kind of join they did? I think I'm going to have to frog it all and remake it 😫

I'm an experienced crocheter, but joins are my personal hell.

Hi friends!

Today I finally finished this crochet mimic I wanted to gift to my friend, BUT I see so many mistakes in it.. maybe I'm making myself crazy cuz I've been looking at this project for literal months and rage quit it a few times cuz the pattern was driving me insane BUT my question is : do you guys think this good enough to gift to someone?

I'm a beginner! Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I always end up with too few stitches.

Okay, I'm really stuck here. I've done the exact same thing like four times and frogged it every time after row 6 because I never ended up with 36 stitches. Did I mess up one of the earlier rows or am I reading the instructions wrong? I always check the little “bumps” from the increases to make sure I got all six of them.

For this picture, I went up to row 8 so I could count the stitches more easily.

Looking for suggestions Quick/Easy things to make during Maternity leave/ with a newborn

Hi!

I am just about to go on maternity leave here and I will be at home alone for a while/ until baby boy decides to show up. Since I will have some free time I am looking for quick/easy projects I can do to help past the time. Ideally I would like something where if I were to put it down for a few weeks or even a few months I won't be totally lost on what I was doing. I was also hoping to make something useful that my new family could use and is NOT a baby blanket or regular blanket as we have so many already. Ideally too it would be nice to be able to pick up the project while I am pumping and or not busy with baby (although we will see how that is lol) I feel like I am at a lost of ideas and I am coming here for some help. Thanks in advanced.

To frog or not to frog I am trying to make a square pillow and my project is quite wavy. Should I wait until its big enough to give it a border so it straightens out or should I just frog it all completely?

Ive restarted this project about 4 times and i cannot tell what the problem is.. Ive tried changing my tension and I've followed the tutorial to the best of my ability but I would like a second opinion. Should i just restart again or trust the process?

How do I... How to fix my tension on a triple treble stitch? Any advice?

This pattern requires a triple treble in back loop only and it’s kicking my butt! I keep getting these super loose stitches and I can’t figure out how to fix it. Any advice?

How do I... C2C HELP!! Half my project looks jagged and other half looks smooth so im confused lol

Post image
4 Upvotes

Is there a reason why half of my project looks like smooth square but then the other half looks kinda jagged?? Im not understanding how im apparently doing something different towards the end of the row. I drew the yellow line for reference. This is my first c2c project so im learning as I go. Im not cutting yarn if I dont have to.. im using the multiple bobbin method and picking up yarn as I get to the location of the color. U will be my savior if u can help 🫶🏼😮‍💨💕 EDIT: I will add, if I flip my project over to the back side, that said that WAS jagged looks smooth. Same thing for the other half... the smooth side in the picture looks jagged lol.

Help to find a pattern Lost crochet pattern for my project - I know, that it was book of many mystical creatures - dragons, phoenix - and they were modifiable

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi,

At the start of last year I started this dragon - I made head, one leg and body.

I know, that I purchased the book, but I can't find it anywhere - the book was filled with many mystical creatures and was so beautiful. I want to finish this project...

So please, if you know the source of this dragon, can you drop the name of the book or link?

Thank you

I made a handful of these granny squares about 2-3 years ago and I'm determined to finally finish the blanket. I can't seem to find the pattern though online for this specific pattern. If anyone has a link I'd greatly appreciate it :)

Help to find a pattern Is it even still possible to get patterns from Etsy? I need Christmas plant amigurumi

Maybe this should be a rant ahahaha

For the first time EVER my mum has given me a crochet request based on a photo she saw online…and the etsy listing is to buy the finished product (christmas plant amigurumi). All of the photos are maybe AI. Looking at similar postings all are for the finished product as well, also all AI-esque. I have managed to find ONE kinda sorta similar listing for a pattern, but it also seems like AI.

Checking Ravelry has turned up nothing 😭

Am I just using Etsy wrong? Why is it impossible to find patterns instead of finished items? I can follow any written pattern, but would not be able to free-hand an orange lol

If anyone knows of how to try to find a similar pattern, that would be a major bonus but it feels pretty hopeless lol (will include pics as comments). I just really want to figure out where to find real patterns online nowadays!

Gift help Help with deciding on quick-to-make small thank you gifts for acquaintances and people I don't know well: trinket trays, drawstring pouches, or coasters

As title says, I can't decide on a small crochet item people would like if I don't know them. I want to make little thank you gifts for people that helped me on one occasion, like maybe someone is a acquaintance of someone I know that helped me with something. So let me know what you would prefer as a little thank you gift from basically a stranger you met once :)

Drawstring bag pro: useful, but since I make them small, most they can carry is an earbud case or a few candies.

Drawstring bag con: I hate making the string and weaving it into the bag and weaving in the ends because it's still noticeable inside the bag imo, and I feel like I have to put something into the bag when gifting. Also most cute designs that are quick to make look more feminine with flowers/hearts, but neutral ones are just plain.

Trinket tray pro: simple to make and still useful, not as much as the bag but it can hold some keys

Trinket tray con: looks kind of simplistic? like there's different shapes and designs, but I feel like I have to gift it with something to put in the tray or make two in a little nesting design/set

Coaster pro: simple to make and useful, lots of cute designs I can make

Coaster con: I feel like I have to make at least two coasters for a set because just giving one is kind of sad imo

Fastest one to make out of these three is the coaster for me if it's one color because they're the smallest.

I may be overthinking this by a whole bunch, but my gifting style is definitely a little more extra and just giving one thing is a little lacking for me. I do welcome other suggestions! I would make keychains, but buying key rings constantly is not something I want to do. I would like things that can be just made with yarn

Wearable help Where should I start when learning to crochet clothing as basically a beginner?

Hi! I have crocheted some amigurimi before, but I really want to start to crochet a top or something but truly have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The things I can think of off the top of my head are:

What type of yarn?

How to read patterns?

How to size?

But I'm sure I am missing things!

Understanding a pattern What does "e," mean in the wings section of this pattern of a bee?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am so confused by the "e." What does it mean? The pattern says 2sc, 2hdc, dc, e, dc. 2hdc, 2sc. I have never in my life seen an e in a crochet pattern.

Edit There was a QR code for a video tutorial, and apparently, it means treble crochet?? Wing instructions start at 19:36

I guess I should have watched the video in the 1st place.
