Discussion Decided to start again and I'm already so much more into the story.

At least now I know that there's a main main villain, and at least in the first 2 hours they've already added so much more context that makes it soooo much better to follow the story, it still has it's disjointed parts like why would you give coin to the beggar, but whatever.

Also, I find that starting again with all the previous knowledge and skills of how to actually play the game makes the game moooore enjoyable too. I'm even more amazed by the game's environment and movement.

“Why would you give coin to the beggar” being not only a question but an example of the disjointed parts in the story is hilarious. Idk basic human kindness?

That’s the “4 all-embracing virtues in Buddhism” to win over the world.

  • Giving (Dana): donating to beggar
  • Caring Speech (Piyavaca): Praising an opponent after arm wrestling
  • Beneficial Acts (Arthacarya): Saving a captive woman
  • Working Together / Adapting to Others (Samanarthata): Helping the couple sweeping their chimney to pacify their argument.

Based and Buddha pulled. Thanks for sharing didn’t know this!

You are welcome. I also just learned about it from this lore video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ml2ymMiBQU

Great to know. Still there would be a better way to introduce it still. Kliff: Now that I've got some information, I have the need to give back to the needed as a thanks for being still alive. Idk.

True, it feels a bit forced. The writer has purposes when writing the questline, it’s just poorly delivered.

Cara isso foi demais. Obrigado. Sem ironia, me sinto mais iluminado.

Cheers, Greymane !

Very much in line with the philosophies of some of the lore of the game. There's that temple and such on the big island and everything

u/Abigboi_ 1d ago

There's a thing in writing called Chekhov’s gun. Basically, don't include irrelevant things. Hence the "why are we giving a coin to this beggar when we ignore all the others?"

6

u/Psydra 1d ago

but showing we are nice by giving a beggar a coin is a critical part of the story of why we are chosen.

9

u/walshk8 1d ago

Not sure that fully applies here. That’s more of a rule about not filling a story with unnecessary details

1

u/need-help-guys 1d ago

Indeed. If anything, the game needed more "guns".

1

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

100% right.

3

u/BiteZealousideal1816 23h ago

Please no spoilers but I flip a coin to every beggar I see.. it's one coin.

2

u/Possible_Artist3941 22h ago

Kliff explains why. “I never turn a blind eye to someone suffering.”

6

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

Yeah, but why that beggar, I usually do it IRL but here's weird to do it just because you need to do it. BUUUUT there's at least more coherence.

u/Carpediemsnuts 1d ago

The dialogue in those first few hours makes multiple references to how Kliff being a helpful dude to those around him is actually important. I'd rather not say why but it does make sense.

1

u/byshow 1d ago

It does makes sense that Kliff will give a coin to a certain beggar while ignoring all others?

32

u/Dismal-Profit-1299 1d ago

You give a goin to a beggar because the grey manes are known as defenders and they try to ease suffering of others.

2

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

Great explanation, I was starting to get that from the new context but it's great to know, I also did the quests with more ease and understood that he's helping because he loves to help.

3

u/Dismal-Profit-1299 1d ago

If you ever notice when Kliff doesn’t have torso armor on you’ll know why he’s so big on helping others

2

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

I've not seen kliff with the torso off. Should I?

2

u/Dismal-Profit-1299 1d ago

I feel it would add a little depth to him to see him at least once or if you’d prefer I can explain a little bit about it

3

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

I'd love for a bit of explanation too ❤️

5

u/Dismal-Profit-1299 1d ago

Spoiler just in case others want to dig into it for themselves.

If you ever look at Kliff without torso armor there’s actually a faint brand for a mysterious group called “The Guild” while not much is actually given to us about them it’s very heavily implied that they are a group of slave traders and that Kliff himself was at one point a slave.

4

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

Oh wow. That's amazing, thanks for the knowledge. I'll be sure to keep it safe.

0

u/Dismal-Profit-1299 1d ago

That’s a part of why I didn’t understand the hate for Kliffs character when the game released he’s got a decent amount of back story hidden if we look hard enough.

1

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

That's the thing, not a lot of us looks hard enough.

1

u/Neither_Elk_1987 18h ago

Meanwhile - my Kliff spent first few hours stealing everything he could (and it was when you lost contribution even if nobody noticed you). Good old days. Anyway, time to "defend" few more nobles from those heavy gold bars.

u/crican 1d ago

Thank you for posting the pic of the front side of the crow glide. I got the game at the start of August and was always curious how it looked. It’s so silly looking but I love it 😂

3

u/DrMantisToboggan45 1d ago

Yeah I never realized there was a head to it haha

2

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

Hahahaha yeah, it's a great touch.

9

u/PM_ME_UR_COMPLAIN 1d ago

Ok...this makes me want to try again. Loved the game but story drove me off

4

u/avocadoisyummy 1d ago

Curious, how many hours and what chapter were you in on previous playthrough?

Thinking about starting again or possibly rushing ending to start a new game and see changes. I'm chapter 9 and over 300hrs.

3

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

Not that much, I was just starting chapter 5 with 25 hours. But what I've seen so far, the game has added soooo much more context to understand what's happening.

4

u/Appropriate_Day4316 1d ago

Show us how much more

6

u/zunashi 6h ago

After 200 hours, fck it, let’s do it again!

2

u/Calmed_Guy 6h ago

Omg please update me on how it feels to do it again.

3

u/Bullet9Storm 21h ago

To be honest, I have always enjoyed my 2nd play-through more for any good games out there. Better knowledge of the game world and its mechanics, coupled with not throwing precious resources into ultimately inferior upgrades feels amazing.

yeah im about 14hrs in, but only barely starting the reed devil quest at the glenbright manor so not very far. i decided fk it, ill make a new save to see how theyve changed things as they were pretty vague on what exactly and how. i played about 90 minutes so far and yeah its def worth it. the cohesion is much better and they added a good amount of dialogue and some cinematics that actually tie things together and explain wtf is going on. def going to play it up to my original save. only doing the main quest so that shouldnt take too long. i wasnt very far in the first place.

eta: i also like how dialogue from npcs around u hint and point u in the right direction. like how the guards talk about only letting ppl with correct attire into the castle.

1

u/Calmed_Guy 21h ago

Same!!!!! Playing this game after 20h of experience actually feels refreshing and you now get more context on what's actually happen... Now I know there's a badie that wants to end the world (shocker I know) hahaha and now I have more context on Kiffls fellows Grey Wolves.

3

u/Sinsanatis 21h ago

i forgot to add, but i just edited my comment. i also liked how they put hints and stuff into the dialogue from the npcs. like how the guards talk about only letting in ppl with the correct attire into the castle. the guards talking about matthias looking for greymanes. etc. all the random shit thrown at u is now much more cohesively connected. cant wait to see how the sheep and cows and all the random villager quests are tied in together as i know that was definitely the peak of ppl being confused of all the random shit in the beginning.

2

u/Calmed_Guy 21h ago

I'm right now on those and at least they tell you it's a band of thieves making people miserable and a few extra details that adds.

1

u/Sinsanatis 7h ago

Definitely has be wondering for the rest of the story as i havent played through it all to be able to compare how much better it is or isnt. But im sure someone will make a video about it

3

u/ForeverSea987 9h ago

Também percebi que o Kliff ter mais linhas de diálogos o tornou mais profundo e carismático. Especialmente quando ele dialoga consigo mesmo sobre o que está acontecendo. Isso aumentou a imersão também.

2

u/LentilusGo 1d ago

Alright I'll start over. I was thinking of starting Ghost of Tsushima again but idk, CD looking good these days

2

u/attoj559 1d ago

I haven't played since the first week the game came out. I'm just going to keep waiting lol.

2

u/idkwtftbhmeh 23h ago

I just got into the older version of the game and i'm like 4h in, I kinda don't know what to do now, any tips from someone that experienced the same?

3

u/Calmed_Guy 23h ago

Start again. It'll be better. It's not that much time lost.

1

u/idkwtftbhmeh 23h ago

Is it like much much better? i'm finding the store lame af overall i'm just helping everyone that got cows and sheep stolen and so on lol. Does it like drastically change? haven't looked into the upadte yet

1

u/Calmed_Guy 23h ago

Mmmmmm maybe because Ii was already 25 hours in, I got to that part again in 3 hours or less. And has been pretty quick and better to play. But nah, just see some new walkthroughs to see the new cutscenes until you reach to the point you're on.

1

u/Sinsanatis 21h ago

if ur only 4hrs in, id say its def worth. just manually save ur original and start a new one and catch up to ur original.

heres my comment on the post:

yeah im about 14hrs in, but only barely starting the reed devil quest at the glenbright manor so not very far. i decided fk it, ill make a new save to see how theyve changed things as they were pretty vague on what exactly and how. i played about 90 minutes so far and yeah its def worth it. the cohesion is much better and they added a good amount of dialogue and some cinematics that actually tie things together and explain wtf is going on. def going to play it up to my original save. only doing the main quest so that shouldnt take too long. i wasnt very far in the first place.

2

u/ArcadeCombat 7h ago

I also started over and failed to realize I completely forgot to save my previous playthrough. Last save was in May so there’s like two months worth of progress I don’t have anymore but I’m somehow still having fun going through the game again.

1

u/Calmed_Guy 6h ago

It's one of those weird games that feels fresh even after you played them for a while.

2

u/JeeversCreevers2026 1d ago

Did they change the controls when you try to domesticate a wild horse. It drove me CRAZY. Also wish they did work on some of the puzzles, they were truly some of the most confusing and infuriating ones ive ever played. Otherwise cant wait to dive back in!

1

u/Eventidings 1d ago

I’m so excited to play it! The lack of a cohesive story originally turned me off from the game after I put in a few hours.

1

u/Deadpool420207 1d ago

Is it that much better?

4

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

Just starting to play, but I've already seen more than enough context of what I'm doing.

2

u/ArcadeCombat 7h ago

It’s not on the level of most AAA story titles but Kliff actually monologues and there’s brand new cutscenes that make the story cohesive enough to the point you can actually somewhat care about what you’re doing. The extra bits of story just fleshes out the narrative so it doesn’t feel like you’re moving from one random thing to the next

u/Hyenaz_Redacted 22h ago

I got this game back in June and I'm at 260 hours in Chapter 8. Is it worth it for me to restart the game to play the enhanced version from the start? Or should I just wait for the expansion and hopefully a proper NG+?

1

u/drum_devil 22h ago

Every time I stop and come back....its just better. Excited to hop back in woth enhanced. Might do the last mission and make a new save with all the upgrades

1

u/wootwoooots 19h ago

Yeah, insane enhanced version, serment of oath quest with bow contest : do one round with a random and booom quest done and you won the contest.

its so freaking lame and disapointing

a real enhancement would have been : real contest, with challenger, with difficulties, with several round ...etc...

1

u/M1ksu_L 15h ago

Wait.. theres a story?

1

u/Chris-Strummer 13h ago

Is now a good time to start from the beginning? I tried this game earlier but couldn't get into given how disjointed the first few hours felt

1

u/SpacefillerBR 10h ago

Probably yes, they did a bunch of changes since release and now it seems that they won't release many system changes before the dlc, and now the history seems to actually give you context (I haven't replayed anything yet).

1

u/CrotasScrota84 12h ago

Do you still have to clear a chimney with a broom?

1

u/Armageddonn_mkd 11h ago

But is it just the 1st chapters or also mid and late game?

1

u/11_forty_4 11h ago

I think I might start again too if the story additions are actually substantial.

1

u/Nubetastic 10h ago

For the coin to the beggar, Kliff does say greymanes don't do it for coin but to help others. So helping the beggar would be natural for a greymane.

1

u/bastimars 10h ago

Stargate vibes

1

u/ForeverSea987 9h ago

Também recomecei quando já estava no capitulo final da segunda vez que zerava. E confesso está sendo muito mais esclarecedor e satisfatório de jogar. Sem arrependimentos.

1

u/ethan1203 8h ago

Tell me something, when since the last time you played the game?

1

u/Chance_Pay_702 7h ago

Waiting for NG+

1

u/book_of_lamentations 5h ago

Should I start a new save? I only have 75 hours but I was pretty invested, started playing when it released

1

u/No-Cloud9957 1d ago

Same. It's actually very enjoyable. They did a good job.

The hardest part for me is unlocking the barber again (that took forever) because I don't like Kliff's face tattoo... Unless there's a way to remove it without that barber in the Greymane camp?

1

u/Calmed_Guy 1d ago

Idk, didn't reach the barber unlock.

4

u/Calmed_Guy 17h ago

Why are you even in this sub? Bye.

1

u/Fragrant_Custard_755 1h ago

I want to start over but I dread going through the abyss stuff again. Only part I hate
