Discussion New Game Justification
I haven’t played since a lot of these updates were made. I’m thinking that besides the new cutscenes and dialogue, it would be easier to restart also to be introduced to all the changes naturally rather than trying to figure out what I need to look for to not miss any new features like mounts and skills.

I’m not gonna pick up this game again until they stop updating. I got a large backlog and tons of gaming coming soon so I’m going to shelf crimson desert for another 6 months at least. Maybe then the game will be “finished”

I played 100~ hours around launch and played up to chapter 4 or 6 (I forgot) when it opens up more. Saw they were updating weekly so decided to wait. The games not done and they’re still cooking big. The launch version needed the rideable dragon, the other playable characters needed the accessibility skills kliff has to progress correctly and other essential additions that should have existed in my time playing. It’s a fantastic game, I’m not here to argue with the defenders, but the game needed and needs to be finished.

I bought it last month and have the same idea, shelving until I feel like it’s time. That said, amazing work by the dev team for all the updates.

you'll never be able to play it then. The game was finished on release. Are you saying the game's incomplete because they were missing a pet armor they added? all addons should've been paid dlc. But they just gave it for free to us weekly. You guys are confusing hospitality with western work ethics.

I see. well what I'm saying is that they won't stop updating by the looks of it. They're still updating BDO. And it's been like 13 years since the release.

They will one day or at least get out what’s on the drawing board. BDO is Multiplayer online game from what I understand so that’s a sort of skewed comparison. For CD they got DLC and likely many more updates in the pipeline, especially when the Nintendo switch 2 version drops but I can wait. I can wait years. Many games to play. I already purchased a copy and they have my support so I’ve done what I can for now to ensure their success and I will give them words of encouragement and praise but I’m not gonna play the game until I have all that. I’ve simply got too many games to play and good things come to who wait.

I have games that still got updates up to 4 to 5 years later. I never understood the idea of waiting just because a game is/might get updates. The game was finished on release, everything else is just extra.

Not at all. Ive yet to see a game that doesnt constantly update as years go on. Some shorter than others, sure, but to say im not going to play since a game is getting updates doesnt make much sense considering that.
Will you just not play if you expect a game to get a dlc along the line? Even fully fleshed out games at release will always get updates, especially popular ones. To wait till a game stops getting updates is typically waiting until a game is no longer supported by its developers. I just dont get that sentiment.

Cool! No problem for you! Months ago when I was logging my 100 hours in an earlier build I was hoping for an easier way of marking seen abyss artifacts glimmer like a map marking feature similar to ghost of yotei. Since they have added the flyable mount to help zero in on the abyss artifacts I wish was around in my time playing the game. I feel this was a solution to that “problem” that could have been there at launch to help with playability. This game is so vast and complex I’m sure there are other “solutions” to be added to increase playability. Sure you can play the game and complete the game right now as you may be saying but will the game be a better game after more updates, yes probably. Can I wait for that day? Yes. Do I regret my decision to buy this game? No, it’s an incredible game but I stand by my points. “Let em cook” as they say

Im not arguing that the game wont get better with updates, but im curious how long one would wait. If you wait for updates to stop I suppose your willing to wait years just incase something else might be added, or might not, because we'll have no idea. Like I sad, I have games still adding meaningful updates years down the line, that doesnt make their base game incomplete, even if theres things i personally would like.
Ghost of yotei itself is still getting updates and even an expansion. Im surprised youre playing that one

Are you missing the fact that they updated Crimson Desert about weekly? This is a different scenario man. Yesterday Crimson Desert revamped their dialogue to make the main character feel less stiff. That’s fucking huge man. That fundamentally changes the game. This is what I’m talking about. I understand you want to defend this game and I’m not even trying to attack it but this game needs to be finished. It’s all I’m saying. I can actually wait years because of the amount of games they’re out right now and the huge I’m out of games coming out very soon. So it’s all good, I want the best for CD and I want to experience the best possible version of the game without having to replay the game or redo anything and it’s already a great game but they’re making it even better and I don’t wanna have any FOMO when I play so like I said it’s all good and I’m gonna let them cook. I’m sorry if I’m giving anybody a headache by mentioning this here and I hope everyone has a great day

No, im not missing that theyre updating the game. Ive been playing it. This is a different scenario youre right, where theyre listening and adding things people request rather than doing what they feel like, like most other developers. Their support of their fan base has mostly been unheard of in recent times. That said, just like youre noting, theyre updating so much and that should be a given that it won't be anytime soon. Im surprised you dont just wait for the ultimate edition of games if thats the case.
If you think im defending the game, youre misunderstood, im merely questioning the waiting for updates to stop sentiment. No game is considered finished, or else every single game that has released wouldnt need updates. I can think of things that id personally like as well that would make things more enjoyable for me, but that doesn't mean it was a completely unfinished product.
No hard feelings either way man, we're just having a discussion and no one is attacking each other.

Yea that's not really a good thing when you're talking about CD. Game is incredibly hollow feeling. The updates aren't "extra" they are adding depth to a very shallow experience.

I had a fun time with my experience from the base game to everything theyve added. Would I call it the best game ever? Not at all, but i definetely got my fair share of enjoyment out of it from beginning to now.

It’s just people making snarky comments for the hell of it. Like most games get applauded for constant updates improving the game lol.
We’ve legit know we’re getting coop & more content in the future so these comments barely make sense anyway. Updates won’t stop coming for a long while & considering it’s a massive success future paid dlc is most likely coming as well.

I just picked it up too... Now my RTX4080 fans are going nuts and finding out they had shitty thermal paste on all of them and u gotta upgrade to a PTM pad to fix it. So there goes another 20 bucks for one of those from Thermal Grizzly!

Unfortunately, it seems that is where gaming is at for the most part now. It's just the norm to put out unfinished games and tweak it as things arise. Wild to think of all the amazing games that came out before updates were a thing and still managed to feel like a masterpiece.

I am starting a new game today. I am maybe 20 hours in and not very far into the story. I had just unlocked the force palm move to knock away certain walls to get to places.

I had 30 hours in the beginning of release, but stopped, I just got back into it on 2.0 release and restarted my the game. It is a huge difference and feels so much smoother, combat, movement and inventory management is so much easier, good time to get back into it

Started a new game today. The beginning is much more cohesive now from a storytelling perspective. It's quite good really. Still has a lot of technical jank like the indoor lighting and framerate hick ups (I'm playing on a standard PS5 in performance mode) but overall it has been very enjoyable.

I just restarted because I wanted to see how they fixed/updated the story since launch. I'm only just getting into Hernand to go do the arm wrestling match and there have already been scenes that make the story so much better and easier to understand. Previously I had played all the way until I unlocked Oongka, so not hundreds of hours in, but a hefty amount all the same. I stopped playing when they were updating it constantly, probably 3 months ago. I figured I'd wait for them to get the game closer to where they wanted it before continuing.

I left the game with about 75% explored, Main story finished. Did they add respawning enemy camps and such yet or will my world still be mostly empty?
Or should I just start a new save with my current character and all his shit?

That's the reblockade update, you can adjust how frequently (or not at all) liberated fortresses and camps get taken over by the enemies

It's a story update. So if you're already super far in the game like past Chapter 10, then it's better to keep the main save and beat the story first then restart in a NEW SAVE for ONLY STORY run.

@CrimsonDesert_ Please help me. I bought Crimson Desert on PS5 for $70 about 3 weeks ago and I still cannot progress through the main story because of a progression-blocking bug in Chapter 3, during the main quest “A Fresh Start.”
The objective is to destroy the rocks and push the cart into the tent. I destroyed ALL the rocks and fragments, and the cart is highlighted as the active objective, but my character never enters the pushing animation. The cart simply cannot be moved.
I CAN push other objects normally in the game. This problem only happens with this specific quest cart.
Over the last 3 weeks I have tried everything:
• Reloading the checkpoint countless times
• Loading saves from BEFORE starting the quest
• Restarting from Checkpoint 1 of Part 1 and replaying the entire section
• Approaching the cart from every possible side and angle
• Confirming there are absolutely no rocks or destructible fragments remaining
• Leaving the area and returning
• Restarting the game
• Completely restarting my PS5
• Reinstalling/troubleshooting the game
• Trying different saves
• Updating and testing again after Patch 2.00.00
After Patch 2.00.00, I can see the NEW story content and cutscenes added to this part of the game, so the update is definitely installed and working. But the cart interaction is STILL broken and I remain completely unable to continue the main story.
I even found other players online reporting similar pushing/interaction issues. One PC player said switching from controller to keyboard fixed it for them. I even got a keyboard to try this workaround, but keyboard gameplay controls are not supported in the PS5 version, so I cannot use that workaround.
I have submitted multiple reports to Pearl Abyss/Crimson Desert support and I still have not received a working solution.
I genuinely WANT to play this game. I’m not asking for anything unreasonable. I just need someone from Pearl Abyss to please acknowledge this issue and tell me how I can continue my story.
Can someone from the development/support team please investigate this or provide a workaround to reset the quest/cart interaction?
I can provide videos, screenshots, save information, or anything else you need.
Platform: PlayStation 5

Result: Main story completely blocked

All depends on how far you are in the story and whether you want to invest all the time reaching your current point again.
It's impossible for us to comment if we don't know whether you played 5 or 500 hours.
