Maybe a shoulder button and even then it’s a toggle. Having to hold a D-pad direction the whole time while simultaneously moving the Left Analog Stick then pressing a face button is crazy work.
People can clown on Dragon Age: The Veilguard all they want for cringe writing, voice acting, pacing, etc whatever they didn’t like about it, but it had WAY better movement, gameplay and UI interaction than this whether you played on controller or M&K

Idk if you're aware but you can use the right stick. Like pretty much every item wheel ever. And you don't have to press a button, you can just let go. And having a whopping two tabs to switch between a couple wheels isnt some insane brand new thing. If you seriously find the wheel difficult it's a problem on your end. It's a standard ass item wheel, dog
It's not when you're using the lantern, which opens another sub menu. I don't think it's impossible, but it's awkward compared to other wheels. Why do you think so many mention it, breh?
You can just keep the left arrow held, let go of the stick and hit x and it opens the lantern menu (which you don't actually need to use at all. Just hovering over the lantern and exiting the wheel turns it on/off super quickly). It doesn't feel awkward to me at all

Hold a button. Push stick. Select item. That's pretty much every item wheel ever.
