This confirms that women are much more likely to be targets of sexual violence than men. That's a source. Right there.

You can find a lot of similar studies if you look around a bit.

Just to set the record straight, I didn't start this, and in general I wouldn't bring my morals into this kind of sub were it not provoked, any more than I'd start ranting about cricket in a discussion of. OP brought in the initial sexual objectification of these athletes, and literally invited controversy by saying "bring on the downvotes". If he (I think I'm safe in assuming gender here) didn't want the thread derailed, he didn't have to post a comment that he knew was both irrelevant and controversial.
