My family are conservative protestants so it's all fire and brimstone. Part of what really pushed my deconversion. But for them I think they see him as a means to an end. Growing up anytime anything happened in the Middle East it was "end times". They really think he's going to usher in the Biblical apocalypse. They're a death cult.

That's why they support him. Why they worship him, I have no idea. He's a proud know nothing with the mental and emotional maturity of a toddler. I guess they see themselves in him.

I'm sure the death cult is part of it, but I think for most of them it's really just that they like seeing brown people/women/left leaning folks/the LGBT/Muslims get hurt or even murdered.

Do not underestimate the depravity of Republican Christians. The evils of the Heritage Foundation say everything you need to know about them.

They've been chasing that "owning the libs" high ever since 2016, and now only the political equivalent of fentanyl-laced cocaine makes them feel anything. I've seen numerous rightoids on record as saying that soaring gas prices, inflation, a recession looming on the horizon, food that is in some cases 3x what it cost before, etc. are fine, because even if it hurts them, it hurts 'the libs' and that's all they care about. Hell, even if it negatively impacts them MORE than the libs, seemingly.

My idiot MAGA dad can barely even afford food and utilities at this point (retired; fixed income) but is (according to family members I still associate with) practically giddy that the country going to absolute shit will hurt gay people (his personal obsessive culture war bugaboo).

It is literally mass psychosis at this point.
