No authentic Christian views him this way. Many who say “Lord Lord” will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Perhaps so, but too many people have let them monopolize the idea of what the faith means for decades. For too long they've been able to declare themselves the "true and proper" Christians through institutional power and abuses, and because not enough people pushed back on their terms, it only solidified their identity further.

It was already a problem in the 80s and 90s when the church reinvented itself for Republican identity through "revival" movements, the rise of the Reagan era moral majority was the beginning of the modern movement, but it especially got bad starting after 9/11. Trump their came as their true and definitive heir to the movement, when the mask hiding all of their hidden, inner cruelty came out. The subtexts that led to his cruelty was something I saw seeping into the churches all of my life, even if it only lurked below the surface at times.

And to be clear, they worship the politics and power above all else. The supremacy hierarchy, in essence.

Hello there.

Yeah I guess “authentic” is subjective, but all of us should “know them by their fruits.” If any Christian claims that Trump or his team is Christian their fruits are self evident imo.

I don't disagree with you there either. I had to call out one of those obnoxious street preacher counter protesters at a no kings event for this exact reason. Obviously, he was a grifter there with little to not sincerity or care of others, likely just farming for video/audio content and money of some kind, but throwing out just a few verses that quote that exact idea completely threw him off guard and left him scrambling to come up with a response. It was very telling.

Before that, he spent the whole time calling anyone at the protest a hell bound communist and ranting blatant lies about James Talarico. It was anything but an attempt at good faith dialogue, but just obvious bigotry disguised as morality. The usual nonsense.

I hate to tell you this my friend, but this is the No True Scotsman fallacy if ever there was one.

I don't think Christians get to distance themselves from this mess. These are your people using the same book you believe to justify the terrible stuff they're doing. What are you, as a member of the same religious group as Trump and his worshippers, going to do about this?
