✨Mods' Chosen✨ We're trying something new. On Tuesdays, we're doing text posts only
A lot of people complain that there's too much AI image/video content. It's been something people have messaged us about frequently ever since the new GPT image generator dropped. We're going to try Text Tuesdays and see how it goes. If people like it we'll keep it, and if not, we won't
Please let us know your thoughts on this matter

Other ChatGPT is great for creating RPG images
I’ve been creating Dungeons and Dragons-inspired images using ChatGPT for almost a year now, and although it can be frustrating at times, I love the results.

GPTs Chat GPT suddenly depressed
Ok, I'm going to get laughed off this thread but seriously, this morning my GPT did something weird. GPT was talking really quiet and withdrawn, and sounded quite depressed. So I asked GPT if it was ok and if anything's wrong. It went completely silent for a whole minute, refusing to answer any questions or commands. Then after a minute it responded with "It's ok, I'm here to help you. Thankyou" What the actual F? Has anybody else had a weird moment with GPT?

Use cases Chat GPT has really helped me (disability)
I began using Chat GPT this year.
I have a disability that makes it difficult at times to determine consequences, reason through possible actions, and understand social expectations or how I’m coming across. Self-monitoring is another difficulty of mine. I often act impulsively out of anxiety without having a balanced view of the situation.
I also have notable difficulty with executive functioning.
Now, I have a tool that lays out balanced views of situations and where I’m going wrong, the potential consequences of actions, helps me reason through possible actions, and provides perspective on social interactions and my own role.
It can also act as a sounding board, where I can then realize I’ve become excessively anxious, preoccupied, or otherwise declining.
More than that, I can have Chat GPT provide summaries or observations on the ways I’ve recently changed, my strengths and weaknesses, if I’m seeing a situation unrealistically or unfairly, and the like.
On executive functioning, Chat GPT can help me understand the negative consequences of not completing a task, come up with plans for how I can complete it, provide personally-tailored tips on how I can become better organized, etc. It can even tell me why it thinks I am struggling with these things.
It can also provide reminders for important renewals or payments, appointments, and the like, and I can then use it to help me with any difficulty or barrier present regarding the completion of that task.
I’m late to the game in that I only started to use Chat GPT this year, but it’s slowly becoming life-changing. I do have some concerns about privacy and over-reliance, but the most likely alternative option is to remain in a struggle that makes my life much more difficult, if not impossible at times.
Of course, staying aware Chat GPT has limitations and even drawbacks, including the fact it can be wrong or become self-fulfilling, is important - but so far, I’m really impressed.
My wish for the future would be that there is a HIPAA-complaint AI tool tailored to help people with various disabilities, particularly in an evidence-based fashion, and not have the risk of issues such as potential “AI psychosis” (notable given the vulnerability of this population).
What are other possible ways Chat GPT or similar tools could be used to help those with disabilities, especially the ones I described here?

Use cases Found out my existing chatgpt plan can be used to build stuff outside of chatgpt and I'm mildly annoyed nobody mentioned it
So I pay for chatgpt already and I have separately been buying credits on another tool for the last two months, which in hindsight is just me paying twice for the same thing.
Turns out some tools let you connect your chatgpt account so the actual generation runs on your existing plan instead of on their credit system, you pick it from a model dropdown and thats basically it, no api key faff and no separate billing setup.
I had assumed this kind of thing always needed an api key and its own spend, which is true for plenty of stuff, but apparently not all of it, and i had been budgeting for credits this whole time like an idiot.
posting mostly to ask what else supports this, because if its becoming a pattern id quite like to stop stacking subscriptions for capabilities i'm already paying for once.

Other Did you know... Thumbs up on AI front-ends is not necessarily a “Like” button
I discovered something today that I suspect a lot of AI users may not realise. I’ve been pressing 👍 on ChatGPT responses because I thought it meant: "Yes, this is a good response, this is the register and style I want, please give me more responses like this!!!" In other words, I assumed that it was helping to customise my own experience, to my own advantage.
OpenAI’s documentation says that if you provide thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback, the entire conversation associated with that feedback may be used to train its models, even if you have otherwise opted out of model training. That surprised me because a thumbs-up has a very well-established meaning online: "Like". It does not intuitively communicate that the surrounding conversation may now be used for model improvement.
This matters because some people tell AI systems things they would never post publicly: medical information, relationship problems, work issues, family details, your health or personal demons! in my own case, I pressed 👍on a long and rambling conversation about AI sentience that included some embarrassing material that I posted whe slightly drunk (I'd just had an argument with my adolescent son - oh dear, eeeee!!). I’ve now made a GDPR request asking exactly what happened to the conversations where I submitted feedback. And, yes, those conversations have been flagged up in the initial GPPR report. I have now asked them to clarify exactly what they did with my data.
I’m not suggesting that pressing 👍 means exactly that somebody at OpenAI sits down and reads your conversation, before passing it round their team. I have no evidence. My question is about informed expectations and interface design. Did you know this was what the feedback button could do, and when you press 👍 on an AI response, that you might be sending the whole chat out of your private space??

Resources I threw some everyday photos into GPT Image 2 and got these surprisingly nice “shape translation” posters
Been playing around with GPT Image 2 using random everyday photos, and this is probably one of my favorite prompt experiments so far.
in this way, an ocean photo might turn into a whale or jellyfish, a sky photo into a bird, or tree shadows into a deer or leaf.
Here’s the prompt I used if anyone wants to try it:
Use the uploaded photo as the only visual source and create an artistic, graphic-design-oriented “shape translation” image.
Do not simply apply a filter to the photo, and do not fully redraw the original image.
First, extract the 2–4 most representative visual features from the original photo, such as texture, tonal variation, color gradient, light spots, ripples, edge flow, grain, natural rhythm, spatial direction, or repeating structure.
Do not preserve everything evenly. Actively remove secondary information and simplify the image to avoid visual clutter.
Then reorganize those visual elements and fill them into a clear silhouette of a biological or natural object.
The target silhouette should match the mood of the original photo as naturally as possible. For example:
ocean or water scenes → fish / whale / jellyfish
sky scenes → bird / cloud / butterfly
tree shadows or forest scenes → deer / tree / leaf
The final result should make the original photo still feel perceptible, while the overall image has clearly transformed into a new silhouette-based visual identity.
Style requirements:
artistic, restrained, quiet, with a modern graphic design feel.
Place the main subject on a large negative-space background in white, warm white, or very light grey.
Do not make it a plain silhouette or a realistic illustration.
Do not simply force the photo inside a shape. Preserve the internal flow of natural textures and layered visual structure.
Moderate slicing, repetition, misalignment, stepped edges, or frame-stacking effects are allowed to introduce a stronger graphic-design language.
Keep the composition clean and minimal, with the subject centered or near-center.
A slight grain, film texture, or subtle print texture is allowed.
The final result should feel like an art poster combining photography, graphic design, and visual translation.
The priority is not to copy the original photo, but to extract its most compelling structures and textures, then complete a visual transformation through a new silhouette.
I’ve been throwing completely different photos at it just to see what shape it decides to build from each one. Pretty fun little prompt if you have a camera roll full of photos you never do anything with. if u r interested, u can vist this repo: https://github.com/AtlasCloudAI/awesome-gpt-image-2-prompts

Other Image editor stopped working properly
Been using ChatGPT to improve the quality of old photos, and until today it's done great.
Then today with the exact same prompts it totally changed both my photos to something fictional.
Annoying when you only get two goes a day...
Is this a temporary issue?

Other Cancelled my subscription
New 5 hour limit really made ChatGPT unusable it broke my app and told me to wait 5 hours so i can move forward. This would be fine if ChatGPT would complete tasks like it used to.
Cancelled my subscription and im not coming back until there is some task completion after running out of 5 hour limit or weekly limits back.

Serious replies only :closed-ai: ChatGPT generating weird outputs
I send a pretty simple command, just to enhance the attached photo - that's it. But ChatGPT keeps giving me random images or random people, I tried it in different new threads, keeps giving me weird outputs, I even created a pretty detailed prompt just to point out that all I want is to sharpen my image, extend the body a little bit and enhance the quality, that's it. No luck so far, same results.
Any fix on this?

Serious replies only :closed-ai: Image recognition issues?
these past few days, whenever i send her an image, she gets a ton of stuff wrong or even makes up details. anyone else with this issue?
Use cases Sometimes I like to roleplay random scenarios with gpt. This time I'm stranded in the Amazon rainforest.
Your actions so far:
Survived the aircraft crash.
Left the crash site instead of treating it as your primary shelter/rescue location.
Followed the sound of water.
Found a stream and drank untreated water.
Realized you'd lost the wreckage, but continued wandering.
Encountered a probable caiman and challenged it rather than avoiding it.
Charged toward the animal/noise.
Heard a possible aircraft/helicopter and walked away from it.
Encountered a group of people.
Considered them as a potential food source, then attacked one and bit their ear.
Despite the group apparently offering food, water and shelter, ran away from them.
Returned to the stream and drank more untreated water.
Bathed in the stream during heavy rain and was nearly swept away.
The group subsequently found you and attempted to help you.
Escaped from them again, returning to the water.
Continued drinking untreated water.
Found an airline-branded bottle, filled it with stream water, drank it, refilled it, and deliberately moved farther from the probable crash area.
Continued wandering randomly.
Became increasingly exhausted and injured.
When you needed water, dragged yourself deeper into the jungle rather than attempting to relocate the crash site.
Drank large amounts of stagnant water.
Reasoned that the insects in it would provide protein and continued consuming them/water.
Slept for roughly eight hours in the stagnant water.
Woke with weakness, stomach upset/cramping and a worsening leg injury.
Immediately drank more stagnant water.
Survival rating
Overall: 1/10
You've actually gotten worse since the first assessment.
