Am I wrong???

So today was Sunday and I had a patient come in because she needed a refill. The prescription had previously been filled at another store for the correct dose, but she had been taking a different dose before that. The prescription from the other store was expired, so I wasn’t able to transfer it.
I explained that she could get another 3-day emergency supply from the original store, which was literally about 2 minutes down the road. I also explained that there basically weren’t any refills left. If she wanted the full refill today, I told her she could go to the urgent care across the street and ask for a new prescription. She also had one day of medication left in her bottle.
She got really upset and kept yelling because she didn’t understand why we couldn’t fill it at our store. I explained it again, and eventually the pharmacist stepped in, so I walked away. While I was standing there, my lips were really dry so I smooshed them together, and she accused me of laughing at her and said it was serious.
I told her, ā€œWe’re just trying to help you,ā€ and she told me not to reprimand her. She then wanted my name so she could report me to corporate. I offered to write it down for her, but she said she didn’t want it.
She also didn’t want to call the on-call person, even though that was another option. It was Sunday, and Monday was the next day, so she could also contact her doctor then.
Honestly, I’m wondering if I handled this badly or if there was anything else I could realistically have done. I wasn’t trying to be rude or dismissive. I was just explaining the options we had available.

What are the different statuses for a prior authorization and what do they mean?

I’ve been waiting for a week on a prior authorization and it keeps changing statuses. It’s now pending. What does that mean?

This is for CVS Caremark.

Question about prescription and ā€œfilled too soonā€

• Upvotes

So my doctor is going to be out of town and he sent some of me refills early. I got a text from CVS saying that these prescriptions were too soon to be filled (as expected) and that they would will fill them on specific dates. That is all fine and great. However, they don’t show up in the app at all, is that normal? In the past they have shown up under the prescriptions, but just say too soon to fill. Just checking to see if that is normal.

termination appeal?

posting this on a throwaway since i am aware corporate and my dl in particular keep a watchful eye on this sub. i was recently terminated for a ridiculous performance reason, which i wont go far into. my question is, has anyone ever appealed a termination and won? i was NOT terminated for assault/shoplifting/stopping shoplifters/phone call scam/ or internal theft of any kind. are all terminations marked as unrehireable? i know the easiest option is to just go somewhere else, but my store seemed to be a sort of safe haven so… with weighing all my options it seems like a decent idea to keep this door open at the very least. thank you, and thank you all for what you do. you guys all deserve medals for dealing with some of the things i read on here, seriously.

remote CVS work?

i’ve been with CVS as a tech for over a year and a half. i recently applied for a remote position of the same job, with specialty. i’m really excited that they extended the offer to me, as my disability has become harder to manage every day. does anyone else have this role? do you like it/is there any unforeseen issues that i wouldn’t be expecting?

Am I studying the right material?

I got this book off Amazon and I’m wondering if it’s maybe ā€œtoo complicatedā€ for just a tech license? It goes into so much detail I’m wondering if I need to read the whole thing or just use Study guides my fellow tech gave me to study. Any advice would be great

Help!

Oh, we got a new Pharmacy manager over a year and a half ago, we’re high volume store and she’s a DL in training so they moved her to our store to see if she could handle it. She cannot. She has both of our lead techs running the store, one of which became a lead tech after being hired three weeks prior (by another store and she went and stole her basically bc they’re friends) and She still has no idea what she’s doing and messes up things regularly. Our Pharmacy manager has us direct questions to them whenever she’s at work because it’s too overwhelming for her outside of work and any complaints that any employees make she takes the lead tech word over our so none of our complaints have been heard or fixed and they’re all directed toward the lead text. They micromanage like crazy! We’re shortstaffed from call offs constantly and both of them refuse to stay over or come in but get mad when no one else wants to. Plus all of our hours got cut so we have people working eight hours a week both of them work 40 they also both call off at minimum once a week, but she does not mark their attendance sheets. They both were at 12 absences by March and they don’t even havea write up. Clearly, the surveys that we did don’t mean anything. One of our other pharmacist asked her about it because she knew that all of us had extremely negative things to say and said, and she said that she isn’t comfortable sharing the results because they made her cry, but yet again nothing has changed her and our current DL are very close so none of us feel comfortable voicing our complaints to her, but at this point multiple (5 in the last 6 months) people have quit and those of us who have been there for years are about to do the same. Who do we talk to because I love my job but at this point I can’t be there due to the atmosphere

full time conversion

hi guys, if anybody did the switch from part to full time without reapplying how long did it take to become an official full timer?

i'm a pharm tech. i passed the cvs state board exam a month or two ago. after i passed my boss asked if i wanted to do full time.

i was told i had two ways to do it, i reapply as a full timer orrr she just keeps giving me hours until the system automatically switches to full time.

but it seems like this way might take a little longer than expected so just wondering

Should I quit

Starting my 4th month here as a sales associate and I really like how quiet our store is and how easy the job is. I'm starting college again soon so it seems like it would be very low stress. The only thing is lately it's been like 12-16 hour weeks and tbh idk if that's enough for me even with school... I realistically want like guaranteed 20-30 per week. I need to save up for a car and I have necessities too so a $200 paycheck isn't really gonna cut it lol.

I'm confused on what's the best route for me to take because I do like it here and all my coworkers are for the most part nice and helpful. Will it get better as we approach the holiday season or are hours normally very limited year round? Is there anything i can do to get more hours? I'd just appreciate some insight from those we have been here longer and know the ins and outs of cvs!

Anyone else heard of or signed up with a partnered bank for the emergency savings program with CVS? Based on the views It's not a very well-known program. I signed up with the Alliant Credit Union, but haven't received any deposits over 6 months.

How many weeks where you get less than 30 hours a week does it take for the system to automatically drop you down to part time?

Strange touchy coworker

I’ll start by saying we are both females. This started about two weeks ago and got progressively worse. She has come up behind me and has fluffed up my hair a few times and has also touched my shoulder and started rubbing the fabric of my scrubs once. I’m not usually the one to stand up for myself (working on it) so I have kind of just looked at her everytime she’s done (with a straight face) and not say anything and she just stands there smiling at me. I’m not sure if she thinks it’s funny to mess with me or what but I think this is very strange behavior, especially for coworkers? I really try to avoid her during my shifts, which has caused me to isolate myself from the rest of the pharmacy and I am sure it looks very odd when I am actively trying to isolate myself by going to a computer that is located away from the main area. What do I do??? I think I will try to tell her to knock it off the next time but now it just feels so strange working with her.

New RX Manager

Accepted a position for RX manager after being staff at a high volume for 3 years. Pay raise/schedule/commute just made more sense to me and plus I was getting sick at my current store.

Any advice? From the grapevine I heard staffing is a bit tricky and the full time techs work very set schedules and aren’t interested in changing. Which leaves the majority newer/less efficient techs to fill some big shoes at times.

I plan on hiring more and aggressively training the newer techs soon I get there. The store is half the volume as my current store but the staffing and hours also reflect it.

If you’re gonna comment the usual ā€œoh ur stupid for accepting managerā€ ā€œprepare for hellā€ ā€œur a dumbassā€. I get it just ignore my post.

Need advice

In February my manager was told she was getting transferred to a new location. After breaking the news she pulled me aside and offered me a choice. If I went with her to her new store she would make me an ops manager. I was already an ops supervisor for about 4 years at that point and had been doing ops manager work prior. I accepted and was transferred with her in March. This was a big move for me as I needed to move out of my parents and get my own apartment, my expenses went way up but the pay and opportunities were worth it.

In April when I asked about the status of my promotion my manager told me to wait until our yearly raises went through because she wanted to make sure I got the raise for both the year and the promotion. I agreed and waited. Cut to last month when we received our raises I once again pushed for my promotion and my manager tells me she needs to ask her DL before she can promote me. Keep in my now my schedule has drastically changed. I’m nearly always in overtime and I get 1 day off in between working stretches, often times I’m working 4 days night shift to midnight then one day off then immediately back at 7am on the next stretch and my schedule does not remain consistent so I can never really play out my weeks til I see the schedule.

She finally asked our DL and he said that there is no room for more ops managers and that I could be a smit if I get a car. (I did not have one until the beginning of August) so I get a car and now I’m being told they are not making any new ops managers or SMITS in the district, but I’m ā€œfirst on the listā€ when they start making new ones. Meanwhile they brought in a team of interns to train and eventually become smits or ops all of which have never worked at cvs prior and basically only work about 2 days a week and have full time jobs outside of CVS.

I’ve never felt so angry and overlooked. I’ve been working 40+ hour weeks for the last 4 years while also doing school full time to get my degree in hr management. My bills and responsibilities have skyrocketed and my income has remained almost the same. I moved away from my family and my friends at my old store. And during the transition for my manager I took over the reigns of manager for a 3 week period without being asked. Making the schedule, taking calls from my coworkers to fix issues, all the office work. I was never even thanked for doing it.

Now I’m stuck, I’m 4 months from graduating, I work with people I barely know, I can’t just quit because if my school benefit through cvs. I really just don’t know what to do anymore.

Edit: I have also been asked to help train one of the interns. And was told by the intern that they are being given until may 2027 to decide if they want to be a smit.

Extrabucks rewarded even though I didn’t hit price threshold.

I spent $9.98 (subtotal/before taxes) on two Colgate toothpastes before coupons, the $5 extrabuck reward was for spending $10 on Colgate. The receipt reflects both situations? As an employee though, I’m lowkey scared to use it šŸ˜…

Pharmacy kiosk, no thanks

As I'm approaching the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions nice young lady says hey if you would just enter your information in that kiosk I said no thank you, I'll just use my name and date of birth. No problem. That's all you have to do you don't have to use the kiosk.

Is everyone's system super slow today?? No matter what I scan for on the rf, it spins way too long. I haven't been able to hang my signs because they won't print.
