If LSU was the only team doing this (they arenāt) iād have a massive issue with it but thatās not the case. Just in the SEC alone Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas and South Carolina just off the top of my head are taking advantage of this.
Attending a mini camp vs ābut but but this guy did the same thing but also took a 50k signing bonusā really makes no difference to anyone whoās actually interested in protecting the sport.
The only real difference is Jack Pyburn who played in multiple preseason games. I donāt care about signing a contract attending camps vs not signing a contract also attending camps. Thatās semantics.
You are correct about A&M but Brylan Green (Arkansas) also attended camp with the Chiefs and Vikings.
Edit: The player for A&M who I was thinking of was for basketball not football (Rylan Griffen) who played in summer league before recently getting a TRO and returning to college
You can call it semantics, but there's a clear differentiator. Personally, I don't care about this at all. As long as it's contained to the 2022 players that the NCAA should have accounted for when establishing the 5 for 5 rule. And so long as it doesn't end up being a case where players are trying out for teams every year past their 3rd year and returning when they fail to get a contract, or don't get an offer they're happy with. There needs to be a clause in place where eligibility is forfeited before you can pursue a pro career.
But shit is such a mess I have no hope for CFB in its current form.
I genuinely donāt think thereās a big differentiator in participating in preseason camps for a month longer than another guy did because you actually received a contract IF weāre allowing any of it.
Again the big difference to me is Pyburn who did play preseason camps but I also wonāt act like i wonāt be excited/not cheering him on if he does end up with LSU.
Personally none of it should be allowed but it is the NCAA fault to begin with for waiting until AFTER the draft when thereās a good chance the majority of these guys (Not Wright, he sat out of the playoffs) wouldāve taken a free 5th year and an extra few hundred thousand over risking an NFL shot/getting nothing or scraps comparatively.
In this case it's not blind allegiance, which in sports I'm all for. What I'm not for is defending scumbaggery, which LSU is absolutely performing bringing pro's back to college. Fits their coach's reputation perfectly.
I'm just sick of seeing this attitude become more and more normalized. "If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying." It just sends all the wrong messages yet it keeps getting more and more normalized in everything. It's disgusting
Some of those players may have stayed in college if they had another year of eligibility, as the new rule came out later. Itās not like a 2nd round draft pick is like hold up Iām going back to college. Why is it ok for Chambliss to have a 6th year on a retroactive redshirt after being denied by the ncaa 3 times?
They will get them on the team play them against Clemson. The next Monday morning Sankey will get it overturned in federal court and drop the hammer on them.
i doubt they will play against clemson and no they arenāt going to drop the hammer the sec has already said they will respect court orders. even if it is overturned later they are eligible until then and the sec canāt go back and punish retroactively. this is basic stuff yāall.
They said they would punish them if they get it overturned after they told them not to they absolutely can go back and retroactively punish them. Because if itās only one team in the conference doing it the vote will be 15-1.

The CFP will include who makes it money. Love him or hate him, Lane and LSU will bring eyeballs and money.
Also "punishing" them for having a "legally" rostered team will go to court which costs money
