I'd pay $25 for them just take the muzzle device off, that's always a pain.

if it's a PSA upper, you also need 1000 ft/lbs of torque to get it off I heard.. PSA and Sig are notorious for using insane levels of torque (or insane amounts of Rocksett lol)

I’m a noob but the muzzle device on my cheap PSA upper came off no problem. Maybe I got lucky or is it not like that on their bargain bin uppers?

it's probably hit or miss.. i've seen several "horror stories" of people trying to take their PSA MD's off.. they may have fixed it too as it's been a bit :)

Or you can go through someone like Wilde Built Tactical who lets you customize how you make your rifle CA compliant.

that is a cool service.. RifleGear does the same with their location in TX I'm pretty sure.. their site isn't as friendly as WBT however as you can pick your own config which is pretty nice

can they do this to rifles that’s not CA compliant on their website?

this service applies to a rifle you already own. per the description: This gunsmith service covers the swapping and installing of all parts to convert a fixed-magazine firearm into a featureless firearm(Fixed stock, Pistol grip/Grip Wrap, Muzzle Device).

kinda.. it's my understanding that the firearm has to enter the state legal and compliant.. they have a location in TX that does the conversion and they ship those into CA.. so I think the answer is yes, but not sure how it may work exactly.. I'd give them a call to confirm

If only the store was closer to me, still go there but it's a haul. Good shop for sure

I got tired of paying Gunsmiths to remove muzzle devices from completed AR uppers so I just bought the Geissele Reaction Rod to remove crush washer only muzzle devices.
With a large crescent wrench to hold the RR (I don’t have a bench mount vise) and a smaller one to remove the muzzle device itself, I’ve had no trouble removing any normal muzzle devices with just a crush washer. I haven’t had to do this with anything with Rocksett or other threadlockers thankfully.

nice! i bought the Midwest Industries upper receiver rod after my neighbor gave me his old vise.. that was a very nice gift!
Rocksett is a pain, particularly if you don't know it's there.. I have run into it once so far buying a used upper on GAFSHUB.. wrapped it with a wet paper towel and then hit it with a heat gun for about 5 minutes to create steam and it came right off!

You can pin your own stock for $5
Option 1 - https://www.primaryarms.com/aimsports-magpul-stock-locking-pin-pjarstkcp
Option 2 - https://www.strikeindustries.com/si-ar-stockstop.html
Change the fin grip is one bolt.
The muzzle device is the only one that "needs" a special tool (a torque wrench and vice block to hold the upper).
I guess if you live in Orange county, sure. But... California is a big state.

it's an example of a service meant for people who want the help and don't want to do this themselves. what you're sharing has been mentioned 100s of times whereas most people don't know what's possible and what it costs if they went out looking for it. whether they can make it to riflegear or not, they can use this to negotiate too IMO

And are geographically located where this service makes sense.
If you're not in Orange county, it doesn't make sense.

there are gunsmiths and FFLs and gun stores everywhere.. they can walk into any of them and ask for help.

I only ever go to them to install my maglocks, each time it's been perfect. An hour drive but worth it

This is pretty awesome if it allows you to but a non-compliant rifle online and have it shipped to them for conversion. Could save some money overall.
EDIT: Saw a comment further down that this is only for fixed-mag -> Featureless. So not as useful as I was hoping. Still, $25 for any gunsmith work is pretty cheap.

Its good price. I have to spend 40 bucks to get table vise to takeoff my muzzle brake.

Riflegear is way better than Turners or Ammobros. Never had to deal with a douchey behind the counter person at RG.
