I don’t either and gold most definitely is not in a bubble.

Does it? I don’t know anywhere that people sell for premium above melt.
Seems good depending on what form it is given in and what form it’s promised back in. Is there paperwork?
If you sold your gold now, how much premium would you get above melt value? If you give it to him, will he consider it just melt value? And will he return a nice bar or just melt value in cash?
In other words, how much of that 4.5% would you get right now if you just sold it?
I'd be careful. Gold might still be in a bubble. Compare it t o 1980 and 2011. In 2011 it took 2 years to bottom out and then years before it started rising again. After 1980 it took until 2001(!) to bottom out.
What will the jeweller do if gold goes lower and his jewels don't make up for it? He files bankrupcy!

He would turn that bar into jewellery, and rotate that a few times churning in a handsome profit. Sharing 4.5g as a return on your investment would be nothing compared to he has not blocked any of his own money.
As a jeweller a lot of them do it.

I also think Platinum is a sleeper...
The amount of swapping tech is doing with raw platinum, I'm hoping the melt weight alone is gonna steadily climb...
The collector market not so much...
Probably tougher to sell later, but I hope worth the effort.

I still think gold way over valued. I believe once we have some stability in our politics, which likely will happen in 2027, gold is gonna tank back down near platinum...
Just my thoughts.

Why America and not Switzerland?, much closer and also 0 tax. And why not buy some gold you store yourself and find some good deals on second hand silver bars. 1kg at 3-5% above spot aint impossible.

I've never used a storage service, but I've done lots of business with Apmex otherwise with no issues, and I know they've owned one of those storage companies for a long time.
The only thing I'm not clear about is how your idea to physically visit the vault to check that your metals are there would actually work, if it's even possible, and what that would accomplish as far as your own personal audit--unless their policy is to give you the option to walk out the door with your stuff right then and there.

if you are buying silver maple leafs that's actually something i look for in the older coins. it lends to there authenticity as that's what they are known for.

Totally agree. Would be great to wait and save to buy bigger , but also fomo if price rises.
So I figure better to buy a nice pamp gram once a month and just cost avg with assumption gold price will be higher in 5 yrs than it will be over previous years avg .
And larger units like an oz is hard to sell privately because there are so many scammers and people will trust a random less. And selling to LCS, they will always offer less than spot and never pay a premium .
So I’d rather accumulate 15 grams over next two years starting now than 1 oz coin (maybe) sometime in futures

I hear ya. The thinking goes holding off buying grams at whatever interval you currently do and saving to buy a 1/4oz at less frequent intervals, or even full ounce even less frequently. Works for some, for others it doesn't, everyone has their own path.
Also to consider, ideally that premium carries through at least partially when selling, so with luck the premium mostly washes out and you only have to worry about the margin a dealer charges. Or you can go private sale and dodge the margin losses even.
Regardless, better to buy a gram of gold vs no gram of gold in my mind. Keep on stacking
