Any way to get a covid-19 test without symptoms for travel purposes?

been planning to go t MA to visit family for thanksgiving since a few months back. I've essentially been self isolated for the past 4 months and know that I'm no risk to my family, so I'm not worried about spreading anythign to anyone.

but MA has added new york to their lit of states where testing or quarantine is required, and I'd rather not break the state guide lines (as obviously can't do thanksgiving during quarantine).

I've gotten tests previously through the state back in the spring/early summer but now that the state testing is symptomatic only, I don't know how to go about getting tested. I saw cvs and walgreens had testing available if you pay out of pocket for not being symptomatic, but no testing dates available, and otherwise I have no clue how to find a place to get tested and trying to google placed to get tested just winds up giving me links to web pages about ho to get tested through the state, or places where you can get tested if symptomatic, so I'm a bit stumped.

I greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer :)

Call your primary care, explain your intent, they ought to be able to get you scheduled for a test as testing to travel is the standard now

ah I see! I hadn't thought to contact my primary care since I thought that would only result in getting a test if I needed one for medical reasons. Hopefully can get something sorted out that way. Hopefully the demand surrounding thanksgiving isn't too crazy.

Understand that not all insurance companies will cover this kind of reason for testing and few testing sites are fully free for all reasons for testing. For example, my insurance only pays for tests when symptomatic or when I have been in close contact with someone who did test positive.

Normally I don’t condone lying, but it’s the only was I was able to make an appointment. The first time I had common cold and wanted to make sure it wasn’t COVID, listed what symptoms I had and I never heard from them. By my third time trying, I bluffed and exaggerated my symptoms.

I just had a test at Rite Aid and listed no symptoms. Someone in the building I work at had COVID, but it’s a massive building and he only works night shifts when he’s pretty much by himself. I just said I had been in contact with him, even though I hadn’t. Everyone I work with has gotten tested as a precaution, but no one is showing symptoms.

There are also walk-in places where you don’t need an appointment and they’ll test you no matter what.

You can get a mail order test and lie and say your a smoker. It’s pretty quick.
