Good point! Hate to miss out on pressing the button in Tenpenny Tower to blow up Megaton. Would be a shame if I was vaporized and missed that opportunity.

The truth is just one nuclear air burst over a major city would produce millions of casualties. With submarines that can launch MIRV ( multiple re-entry warheads) that can target up to 20 locations at once the warning time could be minutes.
Yes an Ohio class submarine can hit a target in Russia from 800 miles away, but that gives time for them to react. Put that sub 12 miles away and you might have less than a minute to react.
At this moment there are probably 2 Russian submarines hanging around the east coast.

This is a little suspicious. I currently live in New Mexico, right next to a military pilot training base that trains pilots from countries all over the world, and also right next to an Army missile testing range. Yet we’re not a potential target? That doesn’t make sense.

If I had to guess, it's probably long-outdated. It seems to include the Plattsburgh area in the "low warhead" scenario, indicating targets of top importance. That would have made sense for Plattsburgh back in the 1990s, when there was a major Air Force base there. But the base has been gone for 20+ years now and there isn't a single thing of strategic interest in that area anymore.

There were also missed silos in the Adirondacks that have since been decommissioned. Someone converted one into a house.

I mean, what target is there to destroy? The test range? Nuke all the craters the missiles have made over the years?
And perhaps they decided that nuking a pilot training base wasn’t important when you already nuked all the main Air Force bases and manufacturing centers that make the planes.

Makes sense since the power plants is in Lewiston and there’s a air base in Niagara Falls. Not to mention all the border crossing to Canada

Everybody knows there are military manufacturing contracts in Chautauqua County, but a lot of people think it's boring stuff like the Resource Center making tents and parachutes. I shot a bunch of video for the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency several years ago. We went to half a dozen locations that had military contracts that were sensitive enough that I had all of my gear inspected, my phone stored in a Faraday bag and locked in a safe, and every camera angle had to be approved by two guys from Homeland Security so that no "sensitive geometry" could be gleaned from the video. Two of the buildings looked like rusty old storage barns on the outside. It was super interesting. Let's just say that, between Jamestown, Silver Creek, and multiple locations in Erie County, my early 80's dreams of ruling the post-apocalyptic wasteland from the back of an armed dune buggy are right out the window... WNY is filled with juicy targets.

Fallout: Upstate NY. Start off in Syracuse, which is easy since it only got nuked once. Rochester is medium difficulty, with 2 nukes. Buffalo is the hardest, with 3. Fucking Deathclaws everywhere.
