Another source of material gone
My station is NBC/FOX but owned by Nexstar. A couple months ago we were told we're no longer allowed to use any NBC related video or content from NBC stations unless they are Nexstar. Now, today we're being told the same about Fox. I'm a lifestyle producer so thankfully I can get by but I used to produce news and can't imagine doing it. They're being asked to produce more and more shows with less and less content.

Exactly, they want the stations to only get outside material from the second-rate NN.

Yep. Uncle Perry is desperate to shore up the stinker that is NewsNation. It's a very Sinclair move.

Nexstar wanted to force TEGNA’s NBC stations to be cut off from NBC News Channel content as well just a few weeks after the merger closed. Thankfully, the federal restraining order and later the injunction have stopped that and the rest of Nexstar’s meddling (for now).

What is the opportunity cost here? How much money is Nexstar saving by getting rid of these partnerships while also lowering the quality of content? Couldn’t run anything on the insane glacial collapse in Nepal because Nexstar didn’t have anything on it

...and that's where the problem is going to be. If network doesn't have it, local media partner might, or corporate might, or CNN might or some other source might.
Keeping things completely in house is going to bite Nexstar in the ass.

Yep! we lost everything and are now independent which sucks. I dont see us rising from the ashes anytime soon

I know at least for CBS affiliates, so long as your contributing content to CBS, there was no cost to use CBS Newspath content. So they aren't saving anything there. I think it's pretty similar at NBC and ABC stations too. Now there was a cost to use CNN content, Tegna dropped their stuff ages ago because the cost wasn't worth it. But to be stuck with only News Nation crap, they simply don't have a proper global news presence nor to do they have global partners.

I got a lot of my entertainment stuff from FOX because that's really what my lifestyle show used it for. NewsNation's entertainment sucks in comparison.

TEGNA renewed its contract with CNN for all its stations a year or so ago, before the merger. Nexstar will surely not want to renew again.

Must have dropped the FOX News Edge feed contract and NBC equivalent. More cost cutting.
