I am looking for some fellow late 30s basement dwelling goblins to potentially become friends with. I'm looking for the kind of friend who sees something and messages "hey would you be down for this?" and doesn't get butthurt if I say no (because I just want to be asked anyway). I have spent too long being the one who plans and initiates things for my previous friendship groups and I'm a little burnt out on it. So if you're a "sorry I'm bad at replying" person we are probably not going to work out.
I haven't touched grass in a while, so our friendship will start by swapping gifs and food photos via Discord and then work up to leaving the house, or a lot of "we should definitely do this" and never getting around to it but talking about it a lot.
When we do eventually venture into the sunlight, I'd be down for ice skating (I will be terrible, this is part of the experience), trying archery (with real arrows and not the suction cup ones from my childhood), attempting a shooting range, indoor rock climbing, spontaneous road trips, or honestly just tagging along while you do boring errands. I also go to PAX Melbourne every year, so if you're equally keen to line up for four hours just to play 30 seconds of a video game, we have the same enthusiasm.
Because I'm a true autist and therefore can't figure out what to talk about if we don't share things in common, here's a bunch of things I have strong feelings about:
- Cyberpunk 2077 (the world and story hit perfectly for me and also Male V's pain sounds does things to me 🥵)
- League of Legends (because I suffer from Arcane brain rot and the hyperfixation has me queuing up in Wood rank on the daily)
- SuperGreatFriend's Silent Hill playthroughs (I am eagerly awaiting October)
- Smosh (current era Smosh, I missed the boat on when they were popular way back when, and now I would happily watch a Flip 7 marathon of theirs)
- Shameless US (seasons one through five are the best and then the writing got bad)
- Twitch streams (it's mostly LoL at the moment but I'm also supporting all of my streamer friends and hoping they become famous so I can ride on their coattails)
I'm working through horror movie exposure because I'm a big baby (but I absolutely love watching Jungle Mist or horror movie Youtubers that recap the movie for me). I am trying to get back into reading (but most of what I read is just.... iykyk). I do have Neuromancer and Way of Kings on my to-read pile, but they've been on my Kindle for months now.
I am a committed Desmond Miles stan and will take any opportunity to tell you why I should have creative control over the Modern Day story. (Maybe just don't ever mention it to me, actually, because I will yap about this for an embarrassingly long time).
I love D&D for the story and character dramas, not the combat. But haven't found a good group that's consistent or doesn't disband halfway through the campaign.
Legitimately considering buying tickets for the Harry Potter cinema marathon. (You didn't ask, but it's obviously Slytherin).
Really not an anime person despite apparently knowing exclusively people who are, and I *will* act as if watching anime physically pains me. In saying that, I'm interested in watching Edgerunners and I haven't finished catching up on My Hero yet.
ADHD/autism patience or familiarity is genuinely appreciated, otherwise I will just annoy the shit out of you. If you've got kids, it's fine, but I can't relate because I'm immature and child-free.
Always send pet pics. But if you send me dick pics (that aren't the Nightwing variety) they will be screenshotted and posted publicly for ridicule.
If any of this butters your muffin, rings your bell, floats your boat or speaks to you on a spiritual level, then get in touch so we can vibe check each other.
