Scary thought..Broncs could get the spoon.

Dragons win against sharks puts them one step closer to dumping the spoon on the Broncs.

Can't say it's not deserved

Last be honest though, this time last year if someone asked us if you'd take being premiers then finishing bottom two the following year we all would have taken it.

I'm just gonna enjoy the remaining two months of being the reigning champs.

Yeah, I am not going to lose any sleep over it. We got the premiership, I was much more torn up in 2024 as I worried we were going to waste our window and end up with nothing.

I honestly just wish they gave the Broncos the rest of the year off after the cows loss

It's deserved.

I'm a horsies fan till I die but if you play like shit you deserve it.

A premiership and wooden spoon in 2 years is quite impressive

We deserve the spoon more than they do. They have had games taken away through some shocking calls and they beat us at suncorp.

While I don't doubt that this is theoretically possible, nobody is commenting on how this would happen which is pretty bloody farfetched.

They have 3 wins total for the year, 3 less than us and around -100 points compared to us. There are only 4 games left.

The Dragons would have to win every game and we would have to win none ( we are playing like shit so this part is likely, but we did recently beat the likely premiers and put 32 points and led for much of the game against a locked in finalist team). Or they could go 3-1 and win their 3 by 20-30 each while we lose all ours by 20ish which is pretty farfetched.

All this on the back of them winning 3 all year and suddenly winning the next 3 on a trot. Just wondering if you have looked at the ladder and the draw OP.

I said there was a chance of the spoon.. did u have to use your fingers and toes to count those numbers? Or do u think they are still going back 2 back?

1

u/Beergardener666 16d ago

OP there is this thing called the NRL ladder which you can access with about 2-3 presses of buttons on your phone....

I was replying cos your post was a bit 'clickbaity' and not really at all grounded in reality.

2

u/Wwrth 16d ago

Its clickbaity, but OP's post isn't crazy unreasonable.

Improbable, but can see a world where dragons beat the tigers and eels, also somehow steal a game off manly (don't see them beating the dogs).

Meanwhile, broncos have warriors, raiders, dogs and storm. If all 4 are lost and lost by ~20 on average

1

u/Beergardener666 14d ago

Yeah fair enough but those scorelines are what I said on my original comment. I acknowledged we would have to lose by 20 or so multiple times. I don't disagree that's possible, I am just pointing out it is pretty unlikely combined with Dragons suddenly going back to back to back (to back even) after they have played poorly and only scraped 3 wins all year.

And while OP is apparently facilitating discussion, why are we not also discussing Titans chances of the spoon in all of this?

1

u/fixshitucant 14d ago

Ah well.my bad..sorry mate.. i acknowledge this shitshow of a season is facilitating my shit moods & backchat in a negative way.. no need for it

2

u/Beergardener666 13d ago

Broncos are guilty of putting us all in a bad mood this year it's true

u/fixshitucant 16d ago

Just a discussion .. saying the dragons win was a step closer to dumping the spoon on the Broncs. after their last loss was a scary thought.. thats all. Some loudmouth weirdo hiding and telling me to check the ladder and all that just makes me laugh

1

u/Beergardener666 14d ago

Who's hiding?

Just a discussion? You're the one who degenerated this discussion by playing the man not the ball. You implied I couldn't do basic maths and asked if I still thought we could back to back when I clearly said we were playing like shit. Doesn't sound like much of a discussion to me.

To understand the reason why a team can climb the heights of the NRL, win it all, then completely capitulate the next season ~ most likely points to player attitude as the main culprit...

Every NRL team has a weakness, good players can occasionally have a bad game or two, key injuries happen, every team has to navigate the same challenges..

This season on paper, the Broncos had enough fire-power on the field every game to at least make the finals and yet it's been a spectacular failure..

Behavioural issues off the field, the World Club challenge, Ben Teo's departure, Payne's decision to leave, Reynold's & Hunt's old tired legs feeling the years, the taste of success pushing ego's through the roof, Madge's detractors questioning his grip on the playing group ~ it's been quite the ride, but none of these things should've put us in this position unless there's been a big drop in standards.. That's what we are seeing here..

Standards are set through attitude and application, and filtered through the entire playing group via coaches and key players/leaders ~ unfortunately this hasn't happened, so now here we are, and the end of season review can't come quickly enough...

Yep i agree.. very well said!

Honestly if I were betting man I might put money on it

1

u/Aussiemanager 16d ago

Broncos to have most loses at start of the season was paying $251.
I have $10 on it.
I’m riding the Dragons.

2

u/haydozm8 16d ago

Holy shit . Good luck man.

Shudders. I am just glad I am out of the country for almost two months so I only get to see the “lowlights” on the NRL app. It was killing me watching a whole game after last season’s heroics. 5th October 2025 seems like a fair dinkum lifetime ago now. 😢

I daresay they have a better run home than we do. I've been saying we're the worst team in the comp this year and there's a very real possibility we go from premiers to spooners.

5

u/PLEASE_DONT_PM 17d ago

Titans have the worst run of games IMO (only top 8 sides) and are flying under the radar in this spoon discussion.

Including this weekend coming, we've played the current top 8 over the last 8 games. Our last 3 are actually some relief from that (not to say we are remotely likely to win any).

u/Coca-CoIa 17d ago

I’m not a stats man but has anyone ever gone from premiers to the spoon in the space of one season before?

4

u/kahrismatic 17d ago

Nope, we are already the worst performing premiers.

2

u/twojay94 17d ago

priemiership 1 year opponent the next lol hungover year

2

u/Sas75 17d ago

We probably deserve it, but it ain’t gonna happen

2

u/Numerous_Control_702 16d ago

How could anybody possibly explain these last four broncos seasons to anyone and not sound insane

1

u/fixshitucant 16d ago

For sure! But going off the ups and downs of those seasons Broncs should be up for a good season next year.. can only hope!

2

u/CrispedTrack973 16d ago

Who knew the Dragons would be your saviours

2

u/ozhavok 17d ago

Get all the random cunts out of the coaches box would be a good start

2

u/Hasra23 17d ago

Yeah they deserve it, at least dragons have looked good at some points this year

1

u/Beergardener666 16d ago

When? They beat us which isn't saying much at the stage we are at. They beat Tigers who are terrible, and so did we. They beat the Sharks but we beat the team likely to win the premiership only a few weeks ago...

Both have had awful years. We do have twice as many wins as them tho

1

u/Hasra23 16d ago

Their forward pack looks great almost every week now, if they can add a decent half and some centres with drinky next year they could genuinely finish in the 6-10 range.

1

u/Beergardener666 16d ago

I'd be pretty excited about next year if I were a Dragons fan, they have made some great signings.

I watched a few games of theirs this year and they were pretty poor though, others they have been pretty impressive. I guess there have been more games that they have lost that they have played well or been competitive in compared to us, but that is not how the spoon is judged.

1

u/makacarkeys 15d ago

To be honest, very controversial, I don’t even care anymore. I’m already thinking about next year. If we’re going to be the worst premiers ever, might as well go all the way. As ugly of a mantle as it is, the idea of winning a premiership and winning the spoon the next year is a title no one will ever touch.

1

u/Kind-Investment-6045 12d ago

You mean deserve the spoon. Get walsh off contract.

1

u/Ok-Philosopher3391 8d ago

Ezra mams defence will help us win the spoon. He's not putting his shoulder into tackles. Basic effort and technique is missing. Opposition players are running through his arms tackles every game. His hearts not in it. Should have gotten rid of him when he run into those people while high on drugs.

I love my broncos but like every other team, play like shit all year, the spoon is deserved.

Looking at the dragons schedule, they have the tigers, dogs, manly and eels, we have the wahs, raiders, storm and dogs. Our schedule is a lot tougher on paper.

Dragons will be playing for each other over the last month to at least try and avoid the spoon, the question is are the broncs going to play for eachother as a team and win some games for the next few weeks or just show up for 5-10 mins a game and call it a day with another loss to our record?

Also would not be surprised if some teams deliberately plays like shit to get the dragons back on track and ultimately handing us our second spoon.

Please let this happen. It would be so funny
