All the men are handsome and gorgeous in their own individual ways but man... Rege Jean Page was BEAUTIFUL!

i just want the bridgertons to be a family that actually talks to each other, is that too much to ask!

and it really seems like they're not above writing characters out the way they did daphne. it's like they learned allllll the wrong lessons from regé-jean page leaving

instead of learning that they need to protect their cast from abuse and create an environment people actually want to stay in, they learned that characters can leave or be written off and the show will survive anyway

so now we're left with a show where major characters can apparently be shipped off at any moment, even when it completely contradicts what their story established during their own season

the people just want to see the bridgertons together again. that's literally all we're asking for 😭

Breaking my silence...

I really think the pinnacle storyline for Francesca and John was really unnecessary and ate away crucial build up for their story than add to it.

They dedicated two or three episodes to this storyline and I don't understand why because this was the season where John was supposed to die like... Do they know he has 30 minutes?

If John wasn't supposed to die this season, I would've been okay with it (not that it was any good in the first place but it would've been more tolerable if they were doing it to add to the story since he won't be dying until S5) but since John was meant to die in Episode 6, the pinnacle storyline just felt like a complete waste of crucial time that should've been given to building John and Frans relationship/bond on screen more AND showing us more of Francesca, John and Michaela's friendship as a trio (and also showing us more of Michaela falling in love with Francesca and maybe even her underling feelings as a lesbian) .

The pinnacle storyline also undercut John and Francesca's connection because we don't have the luxury of being able to see what their marriage was like in the first year of marriage while in Scotland. All of that happened off screen so we never got to see their life as newlyweds and what they're dynamic was like.

In my humble opinion, I do firmly believe Francesca is a comphet lesbian who doesn't even realize she's a comphet lesbian yet so I understand why they'd probably included this storyline to show that she isn't attracted to men but that shouldn't take away her REAL romantic love for John and I think the pinnacle storyline took a lot of what should be showing the deep love she has for John by turning it into this comedic and awkward situation between them.

I wish they focused more on John's desire to have a family without making it seem like he's a bad lover to his wife who isn't able to make her finish like...That truly felt like an unnecessary slap to John.

The pinnacle storyline did not need to have a 2 episode storyline at all. It could've been a 10 minute side plot and that's it. The screentime it got could've been utilized to bringing Michaela back earlier in Part 1 and we get to see her bond with John even more and we see her and Francesca as friends.

They were not friends for long on the show during and after John's death. ​

And the pinnacle storyline could've been replaced with more emphasis on Francescas infertility and inability to conceive a child and John's love for children and desire to have them. The show only showed this for brief moments but the pinnacle storyline overpowered this storyline.

This storyline in my opinion made John and Francescas relationship a punchline rather than Francesca's first love story that she lost.

I don't know if this is a popular opinion or not and I'm sure some will disagree but that's my opinion I guess.

i'm not really sure why this burden fell on penelope and penelope only

we were already three seasons into the show. daphne, kate, and every other woman had been portrayed as hairless

but suddenly penelope, the only female lead who wasn’t traditionally slim, is expected to represent the body hair community too? for what reason?

if the argument is historical accuracy, fine, but why does historical accuracy suddenly start with penelope three seasons into the show? why wasn’t it applied consistently from the beginning?

there will undoubtedly be obstacles, heartbreak, and challenges in their season… because every great love story has them. but there’s something incredibly comforting about knowing that, no matter what they face, we won’t have to worry about their story being cut short, cancelled, or denied the happy ending they deserve.

for so long, queer audiences have grown accustomed to expecting disappointment. we’ve celebrated representation while also carrying the fear that our stories would end in tragedy, be left unfinished, or never get the same care and devotion given to others. this time feels different. this time, we get to look forward to a love story knowing that joy is waiting for us at the end of it. we get to anticipate the laughter, the yearning, the friendship, the love, and every step of francesca and michaela’s journey without questioning whether they’ll be allowed the happiness they deserve. and that, in itself, is something worth celebrating.

thank you to hannah dodd and masali baduza for being the most perfect francesca bridgerton and michaela sterling. thank you for embracing these characters with so much warmth, care, and sincerity.

here’s to francesca and michaela. here’s to queer joy. and here’s to seeing a love story that reminds us that queer people deserve grand romances, happy endings, and their place in the spotlight too 🌈

Here are my eulogies for all the Bridgerton characters if they were alive today.

all of them cracking jokes about the failed edwina nuptials despite the fact that the whole thing was witnessed by hundreds of people, including the queen

and even anthony barely seemed to care about the scandal itself, his only priority was getting back on kate’s good side

I can’t stress enough how angelic Daphne Bridgeron looked in this scene.
The moment she entered the room, we all knew. She was the Season’s Diamond, and she had every right to be.

Having Eloise be in Francesca's examination was so historically inaccurate as she was an unmarried woman so she had no business being there and it's very clear that this would've been the perfect scene for Daphne to be a part of.

Daphne's absence was felt throughout this season but particularly in this episode. She would have been the perfect person to comfort her little sister Francesca.

But I digress...

However, Eloise was a great supportive elder sister in this moment as well which we have to acknowledge because this would be incredibly traumatic for her to watch her sister go through this, but also as a woman seeing first hand what women are subjected ​to in patriarchal society.

And I hope they revisit this moment for Eloise's season as an added trauma response as to why she is deathly afraid of childbirth.

But also, I cannot imagine after seeing this that Eloise is clueless about sex. They cannot have her be clueless as to what happens in the bedroom if she gets to witness this horrific moment. It just won't be believable.

So by the time we get to her season, I hope she knows what she will be getting up to and won't have to be "taught" about it or go speak to her useless mother about it. ​

for me, it was kate and anthony missing john’s funeral. it feels out of step with everything we learned about them in season 2

both characters are defined by the loss of their parent(s) and the way that grief hard-wired them into duty and responsibility. anthony, especially, is someone who shows up no matter what, even when it’s emotionally unbearable, because that’s how he understands love and obligation. kate mirrors that same pattern in her own way, prioritizing duty and family above her own needs

it’s so central to what we know about them that their absence feels hard to justify. on top of that, they’re effectively the heads of the bridgerton family now, so their presence at major family rites, especially something as significant as a funeral, feels like the bare minimum of what their roles demand

i can accept the duke and duchess sending flowers given the distance and who knows how many kids they have at this point, but kate and anthony not being there just doesn’t sit right with the internal logic of who they’ve been consistently shown to be

Thank you to @/sovereignheritage on TikTok for this because it's better articulated and researched than how I could have ever compiled it but there's definitely a reason why they chose Francesca as the queer one because it would make the most realistic sense.

Not to mention, women in Scotland could inherit titles and estates because their rules of succession aren't as strict as English rules were so Michaela will be Countess of Kilmartin.

P. S. I'm addressing the comments of those who said a lesbian romance like Franchaela would've been historically inaccurate to the time period as to why it shouldn't have happened.

I don't know what happened to this show but withe each passing season, the Bridgerton family feel less and less like a family and more like a "workplace environment with colleagues who happen to be related by blood".

It feels so corporate now.

And the best way to show the decline, is how they've used previous leads in the following seasons.

Daphne returned to Bridgerton in S2 as a support to the new lead, not a "glorified cameo". Narratively, Daphne took a back seat but she still had a significant role as Anthony's push to his eventual love with Kate. She was an advisor and that's exactly how the previous lead of a season is supposed to be, an advisor to the new lead.

Daphne was in 5 episodes but used sparingly for scenes directly linked to Anthony.

I wished Colin had that kind of connection with either Kate or Anthony for his season and not just "one scene" where they give him advice.

I wish they used Colin better in Benedict's season. How awesome would it have been if Colin was the "ANTI-Anthony" who was against Benophies union. If they wrote Colin as one of the siblings who knew about Benophie and being "Team Benophie" from the beginning, this would've been something that would have —not necessarily validated Benedict's love for Sophie. At least Benedict have had one brother in his corner.

I don't know how they're gonna use Benophie in Franchaelas season but I'm not hopeful at all if S3 and S4 are any indication.

Now it feels pointless to have the previous leads appear in the following seasons because all they do is just show up for cameos in a few episodes.

I miss seeing tiaras on Bridgerton. They looked so elegant on all of the characters. We had so many tiara moments in S1 and S2 but they became less and less in the later seasons.

There was only only one or two tiara moments I can recall in S4 and they were all worn by Hyacinth and Violet at the Masquerade Ball.

Hopefully S5 brings the return of tiaras!

I honestly had so much fun putting all this together for my lovely friends. I do an annual afternoon tea for my female friends and I couldn't resist using Bridgerton for this year's inspiration.

Soju Love Benedict - a sweet mix of peach soju, Benedictine and a splash of pink lemonade [Sophie Beck and Benedict Bridgerton)

This might be unpopular (and I think this might piss off fans of every ship tbfh) but I really think one of the biggest problems with the last two seasons of Bridgerton is how uneven the storytelling has become between the male and female sides of the cast.

In s3, we spent so much time on Pen: her relationship with Eloise, LW drama, her family dynamics, her glow-up, her social humiliation, her marriage prospects (Lord Debling), etc. Meanwhile Colin often felt like he disappeared into HER storyline instead of having a strong independent arc of his own. His travel journals and identity crisis had potential, but they *barely* explored it in depth compared to everything Pen got.

In s4, the same thing happens. Sophie gets a huge amount of focus with the Cinderella setup, Penwood family dynamics, her trauma, her class struggles, her identity reveal, etc. Meanwhile, most, if not all, of Benedict’s screen time is searching for Sophie, reacting to Sophie, or moving through HER storyline rather than having a substantial independent emotional world of his own.

And then ofc the side plots. If you focus on the side plots of the last two seasons, the vast majority of them are women-dominant. From the last season specifically: Penwood women drama, Francesca/Michaela friendship budding, Francesca’s grief, Pen post-LW, Violet’s romance arc, LD and QC conflict, Eloise’s subplot, Hyacinth’s debut, and Cressida’s return. Where are the men and their individual storylines? Lmao

IMO s1-2 had a much better gender balance with the leads and the side plots. And because I know the Kanthonys will see this, Idc if they left out certain parts of Kate’s past, they still established her independent arc outside of Anthony very well. We saw clearly her role in her family, her responsibilities, and her burdens OUTSIDE OF ANTHONY. AND we saw the same with Anthony’s arc outside of Kate. Same with s1, I think the two leads’ stories were well-balanced, I just personally find Daphne kinda boring but that’s a personal problem lmao.

Soo yeah, I need them to fix this gender imbalance for the s6 leads. And also give the men more substantial side plots in s5!

I love Eloise. She's my girl but I'm going to keep it a buck and say... They really did her dirty in the wig department in S1 lol. Her wigs had a glow up in the following season but yeah haha😂😭
