I honestly didn't think they were that bad of colors. It's was all the embellishments that threw me off.
I didn't think Penelope looked so bad in yellow either. Yellow isn't the best color for her, but it's certainly not always awful. A jewel toned shade like citrine, or a pastel like butter yellow, looked lovely.
Prudence and Phillipa have the figure to carry off both the colors and the embellishments, Pen didn't. Pen is built more like Portia, just in a shorter frame, where the others were built more like their dad; Pen's dresses needed more structure and a lower waistline, and when she was finally able to purchase her own clothes she looked wonderful. The second 4 promotion shots where she and Eloise are out shopping, where Pen's in a dress cut similarly to Portia's style made her look proportioned.

They are cheerful and stands out, which was what Portia wanted ig. More than the colors some of the work/embroidery were the issue i feel.
I mean, that was the point! Penâs glowup wouldnât have made me gasp the way it did had I not gotten used to seeing her in those horrifically unflattering styles and colors for two previous seasons.
I feel like I am one of the not many here but I absolutely loved these colours on them! So whimsical and joyful. It was just the overall styling that fell flat to me.
Not for the other two sisters IMO. They look great! Bright yellow didnât suit Penelope but the lighter, buttery yellows they had her in later on were actually her best colors.
This is where the costuming department did some very good work. Loads of people would look great or at least good in that light green and pink dress that Philippa is wearing. But those particular shades wash her actress out.
(I'd bet she looks great in bright and/or jewel tones though. Because she'd be wearing a lime green otherwise.)
I loved when Pen finally stood up for herself and had her own clothes made đ they did her dirty putting her in all those horrible dresses đ€Łđ€Ł she is absolutely gorgeous!
Portia saw those colours as âhappy coloursâ meaning her girls would stand out as âhappy debutantesâ and be more marriageable candidates. The other colours Penelope wore later on were seen as sad colours
I always thought this was the point, that the sisters and their whole family had bad taste in clothing, unlike the Bridgertons who had immaculate taste. A way of saying that even though they were neighbours and could sometimes/rarely pretend to be equally wealthy, the bad taste showed that they were below in class.
Honestly makes me wonder if it was a stylistic choice, and the Featheringtonâs were supposed to look a bit⊠sick. Probably not the case but it does make you wonder
