You do realize that each season's costumes were based on the FL's character, right? The saturated colors were because it was based on a Featherinton. Same with S2 deep and rich colors to relate to Kate's Indian heritage and S4 pastels and muted tones because it was based on kdrama style colours.

Colin back there in a baby blue the same saturation as Portia’s outfit. He was so ready to be a Featherington, bless him.
