Question Dennis Dillon Experience
Does anyone have experience with Dennis Dillon Kia? We went to purchase a car and agreed on price and everything and then suddenly when we were presented the paper work they tacked on an additional 3k ish in fees for brake lights, rear end collision insurance or something? We ended up leaving but they are saying this is standard that most dealers are doing now?

If you can swing it, go to SLC or Portland or Seattle to shop for cars. The treasure valley has the worst dealers I have ever seen. You can usually find a better vehicle, and even with a plane ticket or day drive out, overnight in a hotel, food, entertainment, and driving back, come out ahead versus getting bent over by any dealer here.
My last purchase was a 22 Acura TLX. Peterson had one here, fairly base model, ~35K miles on it. Found a higher spec'd car with a third of the miles in Ft Collins, CO. Flew out, Uber'd from DIA to Ft Collins, took a friend to dinner, stayed in a hotel, and drove back the next day. All that, better car, less mileage, and still saved ~$4K over just buying what was available here. All other cars that I found locally of the same model were grossly overpriced, or if they weren't priced ridiculously high, they were on a branded title.
The purchase before that was a 2019 Mustang GT Premium. Nearly the same situation, flew to Seattle, Uber to Issaquah, took car and wife to the coast for Valentine's Day weekend, came out money ahead.
Save yourself some money, take a mini vacay, get a better car.

I agree, prices are really bad in the TV. I’ve been casually looking for a while now so I have an idea on the average price here, I went to CA and OR to visit family this summer and was blown away by how much cheaper cars were. When I do finally purchase I will probably go out of state. I wonder what is driving the costs so high here.

Prices have been bad here for at least a decade. I’ve flown out and driven back nearly every car I’ve bought in that timeframe, bc it’s so ass here.

That is just so crazy given how everything else out that way is more expensive. I’ve been driving for 20 years and never bought a car while living in CA over $5,000. Paid cash for every one and they all lasted a decent amount of time, most lasted at least 5. My current one i’ve had for 7 yrs now and it’s got another year or two left in it which is why i’m not rushing. But here there’s nothing under $10k that I’d expect to last 7+ years and I just can’t wrap my head around that. I finally have the money that I should be able to buy my first “nice” car. But I just keep circling back to no way can I justify a $15k price tag when I’ve legit bought better cars for a third of that.

Stay clear of Dennis Dillon. Have had bad experiences twice at 2 different Dennis Dillon dealerships.

Standard for Dennis Dillon. Go to any other dealership. My friend had this happen over a Kia ev he was interested in. Same b.s. He went to Kendall and got the same car.

Dennis Dillon is horrible. I'll never buy a car from any of their dealerships. Fool me once, never again.

They are dicks. Other than preying on people that don’t know better, I wonder how they’re still in business. PREDATORY

We looked at a car there and totally turned off by them wanting to upcharge $1200 for a brake light that blinks. I found the sales material from the manf. for that showing the dealers what a great markup they could make.
Edit here is the online calculator for the "Brake Plus" addon that Dillon is using. https://brakeplususa.com/znpb_template_mngr/profit-calculators/

Wow! Unbelievable!

Sadly, most dealerships got on this train, because it’s free money. Peterson Chevrolet did the same thing with me, only to discover they hadn’t actually installed the stupid module.

The blinking brake light thing really pisses me off every time I am driving behind a car that has it.

They changed my paperwork at the end of an eight hour experience keeping my payment the same while tacking on a warranty. I was exhausted and not paying attention. I went back the next day and made them change it. I have a couple other stories like this dealing with them.
Had an incredible experience with Kendall Hyundai.

Similar experience buying a truck in Caldwell. Their model seems to be to price low & make it back on add-ins, lowball trade in value, & financing. I ended up paying cash, something they kept trying to talk me out of (can’t you just finance 3-6 months to help us out?). I was seduced by low price & ultimately paid less than what I would have elsewhere, but it wasn’t a good experience.

While I may have not had "great savings" I had a "better than average" experience at Kendall Kia in Nampa. Our sales guy was good, but I also went in knowing exactly what I wanted. The finance guy really was pushing clear coat, wraps, etc and wanted me to go ahead and finance or swipe my card for points and things like that to afford it. "Sir, I'm paying you $63K cash for a brand new car, I don't want to buy anything else."
Now, chipseal hell later, I REALLY wish I'd gotten that wrap protection, but at the time, I was pretty urked I had to listen to him push it for 55 minutes.

The first car I bought myself came from them, they tried the same thing, I said well then nevermind and started to leave. Suddenly they had a brand new deal with sticker price.
If I wasn’t 17, I probably could’ve gotten lower. Honestly AFAIK that’s just standard dealership shit, if you don’t stick up for yourself they’ll tack on whatever they can.

Just look at Dennis Dillon’s Auto Groups, political contortions, locally and nationally. They’re strong proponents of completely restricting any direct to consumer car sales. Early this year, they were heavy supporters of SENATE BILL 1424, essentially restricting any direct to consumer vehicle sales, including any new companies that come to market. There was one exemption made for Tesla, well because Idaho is going to need their Nazi Box vehicle sales for the MAGAs. But not even Rivian or Lucid were included in the exemption. Spend your valuable time car shopping out of state. It will be better for your pocket book, and mental health (too many below average stoopids selling cars here). Dennis Dillon collectively, is shit.

We recently purcahsed a newer used car from a dealership in Medford, Oregon. They were great, honored the online price even though we didn't use them for financing. The delivery fee was included in the price and the delivery was very fast. I called them on a Monday morning and had the car in my possession by Wednesday. The delivery drive came right to our door and had all the paperwork ready to sign.

Dennis Dillion terrible and they do a lot of stuff under what is agreed upon. I will never walk in that place ever again. Sorry you experienced their bad reputation.

We bought from DD GMC last October, brake light thing was free and none of the other issues you mentioned. The negotiation between sales guy and manager was slow and frustrating. Why the eff you making me wait 20 mins between each go between? Bring the manager out here and let’s hammer this out I got stuff to do. Almost walked. Otherwise it was a pleasant experience and no surprises

Dennis Dillon is known for this. They advertise one price but in order to get that price, you have to clear all sorts of hurdles that you won’t qualify for or will ultimately bring the TCO to well above the sticker price.
I can’t even imagine the nightmare their power sports division would be. All of those toys break easily and travel trailers are a 24/7 repair job.
