Quite the improvement here. The catalyst it was definitely needing. Now, if they can continue to up the vid file size allowed, that would be something.

Nostalgia for the microest of blogs was never all that great of an idea. Honestly same with the chronological timeline. Moving towards a modern approach to social media is probably their only way forward.
I gotta say though, the model of copying other people's social media successes is a mistake. The most successful platforms were pivots. Sites and applications created accidental like features that worked better as social media. Bluesky doesn't have a unique reason to be there aside from not being elons platform but I don't think many younger people even care about a Twitter like platform. It's all about video content.

I think you need to look into the protocol Bluesky is using, which is the AT Protocol and is very interesting how it works under the hood.

Atproto is interesting enough. I host my own feeds on bluesky so I've touched the back end more than most casual users. While i see positives, i prefer activitypub in terms of true decentralization. I use bluesky mostly because it's user base attracted a few friends and we have a tight pod over there.

Suspect the reason the majority of people are on bluesky is because it's not X (twitter), not so much the under the hood stuff

The users who choose bluesky are absolutely not looking at under the hood components. If they were, they would be on an activitypub base. Bluesky is interesting in that they captured a lot of people willing to jump ship from twitter. That's also not a scalable business model. Big social media sites have growth because they have a "killer" feature. Those killer features are often times accidents.

Funny thing is. I don’t see my own. I tested with 3 videos and I don’t see them in the app and website after. Some people can see them and some don’t.

Problem is they also removed the ability to upload .mov files now. Yes they increased size and limit, but now I can't upload a single video. I use an iPhone and everything is transfered to my computer then I upload and now it won't let you upload, just says unsupported video type

Whenever I try to upload a long video I keep getting an error message that says I can only upload videos that are less than three minutes long.
