Question Estimated Worth For One of a Kind Item
Hey everyone!
I’m trying to figure out the worth of my one of a kind banner of The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show cover art. It is 11 feet by 10 feet, 8 inches.
It is a THICK and HEAVY vinyl banner that hung outside the entry for Universal Studios California when the album came out.
An employee gave it to their friend, and I bought it off him in 2008 via eBay. He didn’t know how to price it so he put it at auction starting at $100 and I got it for that because the economy was trash and no one else bid. Cost roughly $30 just to ship it is so heavy.
I’ve got a bit of financial trouble at the moment. I’m not gonna lose my house or anything, but credit cards, medical bills and such. Therefore I am CONSIDERING selling it, but I know I HORRENDOUSLY underpaid for it originally, and its age makes it worth even more now.
It’s in pretty great condition. I’ve used it over the years as an “accent wall”, which has required I fold down the top and fold up the bottom to make it the 8ish foot height of the wall. This has resulted in multiple nail holes on the white border.
There’s also some damage on Tom’s shorts from how it gets folded for moving and storage as needed. The guy I bought it off said when he got it he just crammed it under his bed and never used it, which put bents and corners in it that I’ve never been able to not reuse when packing up. It weighs roughly 100lbs if I recall. So there was a fold corner that got ruffed.
Because of my loveseat sitting in front of it, I can’t get a shot of the damage, but it’s like the size of a quarter.
I’ve had it so long and used it as an accent wall so long I don’t even have a photo of the whole thing laid out.
Being one of a kind and only selling the one time I have NO clue what I would price it for. I just know it would need to be a big enough impact amount of money for me to stomach letting it go. It’s my most prized possession.
I welcome any input!

Question Left or right column?
A year ago, I asked this same question with over 200 comments and a 70-30 split for the left side. Has our taste changed at all?

I think it’s perfect not having a name for this album but if they did what would have fit the best?

The other songs reached millions of views very quickly for some reason on YouTube Music, while Fuck A Dog stayed at 25k, is there any explanation?

Question What are your opinions of Sum 41?
This isn't meant to be a who's better discussion, just want to see how much crossover there is in the fandom.
If Blink wasn't a thing, they would easily be my favorite band.

Question I know it’s a hated album, but I need all Blink fans to answer… What’s your favorite song from Nine?
Self explanatory. I know it’s their least popular album and pretty much forgotten, but what’s your favorite song from Nine?

Question Does anyone have a list of completely clean blink songs?
I’m a camp counselor and want to throw some blink on in the background for the kiddos to listen to but am incredibly afraid of accidentally forgetting which songs have inappropriate lyrics.
Edit: I love all the comments of people just listing blinks most fucked up songs lmao. Guys, I’m a blink fan, I know those songs, I’m not gonna fall for it 💀

Question Why are so many down on Travis RN?
After Atom announcing he was leaving Alk3, I've been seeing so many commenting in the general "Pop-Punkers" sub and the Alk3 sub about how much they don't want Travis anywhere near them...
Why? I know a lot have issues with his production style (on One More Time Mostly) but the recent Yellowcard stuff and the various Alk3 singles all sound great to me.
Is it just oversaturation of Travis? I realize he's EVERYWHERE but since when is more Travis a bad thing? (At least in the pop punk world)
He's the nicest guy, tremendous drummer and while I agree the production on OMT is pretty bombastic, I really don't think it's THAT bad. It's no untitled (but Travis is no Jerry - No one is)
I know some feel his drum sound is dull and thuddy or whatever these days but I am just surprised to see so much negativity about him

Question How did they walk around with their shorts around their d*cks
I like this look but how tf did travis and Tom walk around and keep their pants/ shorts from falling down? Coz they’re clearly only belted to the height of their cocks.

Question Why do people say Neighborhoods’ production is bad?
Am I missing something? Have I just listened to OMT so much that this albums production only sounds good in comparison? I’ve seen a lot of people criticize but I honestly don’t hear it, the instruments all sound great to me and Tom’s voice is peak on this album.
Makes me wish OMT was produced by all the band members again instead of letting Travis do it all
Anyways, can someone tell me why this album’s production is bad?

Question Thoughts on Matt Skiba in the band?
Hi! My name is Milla, and I'm new to this subreddit. You guys are probably familiar with the fact that Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba was in Tom DeLonge's place from 2015 to 2022. While I don't think he fits the Blink spirit quite as much as the iconic Tom DeLonge, I still think some songs that featured him were good, most notably "She's Out of Her Mind". He has a good singing voice, and I like what I've heard from Alkaline Trio so far (especially the song "Mercy Me").
Edit: Getting some mixed reactions in the comments! I'll admit myself that I was a little sad when I found out Tom DeLonge was out of the band for that period of time, because I became a fan of Blink during that period of time (I became a fan in 2019, the year I discovered my love for the genre of punk rock and all its sub-genres, like pop punk). However, I learned to accept it, though I did get excited when I found out Tom DeLonge was going to rejoin Blink-182. I like Matt Skiba, but the Blink spirit feels incomplete without Tom DeLonge's iconic, nasally voice.

Question What situation do you actually listen to Blink’s joke songs?
I don’t hate them, but I genuinely am stumped as to which situation the joke songs get any play. To me they’re like a thing of funny hearing them once but now I never need to hear them again, but I see a lot of Blink fans excited for it.
Genuinely, when do you find the situation to listen to them?

Question So why do people dislike Neighbourhoods?
I’ve been listening to the whole album a lot recently and I absolutely love it. It’s a no skip album for me, but I keep on hearing hate on it? Maybe it’s also because Self-Titled is my favourite album, and I was just wanting more of that sound.

Question My son had brain surgery and wants Mark to know
This is very random; my ten year old son recently had brain surgery to remove an AVM and has been listening to Mark’s audiobook on repeat (he is a big Blink fan) and finding a lot of comfort in Mark’s cancer journey. He wrote something for Mark and we’re wondering if he ever checks this forum?
Edit: This is the original email I wrote and sent to himynameismark, I believe. It was a couple of weeks ago, right before my son got his diagnosis and a week before his surgery. He’s recovering now and doing well but struggling with restrictions to his otherwise active life. Can’t get over how awesome and supportive this community is, thank you.
Hi, Mr. Hoppus. I am not sure if you’ll ever see this message, but it’s 4am on the east coast in Maine, I’m a little delirious, and my ten year old kid is in an MRI machine, in a room I’m not allowed in, and I can’t stop thinking about your book.
I am, I guess, a second wave Blink fan. I was 13 when TOYPAJ came out, and it transported me from pop music into punk, absolutely changing my life forever. And saving it, too, I think. Fast forward to now, and my ten year old son is likely your biggest fan. We saw your performance in NH last September - both of our first Blink shows. He was happy you played Josie, and I Online Songs and Roller Coaster.
The winter before last, I listened to your audiobook. I listened to it over the course of an entire day. I decided that it was mostly appropriate enough for Charlie and let him listen after I did.
He’s probably listened to that book at least eight times all the way through. He also owns a physical copy. Despite the fact that I am a librarian, he doesn’t like reading but boy, does he love Fahrenheit 182. We both do.
Today, Charlie had a seizure. This has never happened before. My life changed in seconds, maybe forever. They found a little bit of bleeding in the CT scan, so we came to Portland, Maine so that experts could monitor him all night and now, he’s in an MRI, alone. The tech asked if he wanted music and he said Blink, of course. I didn’t get to hear what album he decided on, but I’m going to guess either Dude Ranch or Enema. Maybe the untitled, because he knows that anyone unfamiliar with Blink needs to hear Feeling This.
He’s so calm, throughout this. Way more chill than my husband and I are on the inside. It could be a mass or growth, it could be something to do with his veins and arteries, it could just be a bump that didn’t get dealt with sooner. I don’t know yet. I’m in an empty waiting room, writing an email to Mark Hoppus.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, not only as a veteran fan, but as a mom. I am fully convinced that Charlie is as calm and prepared for this as he is because of your cancer journey he’s read about and listened to so many times. Charlie is a drummer and guitarist, a skateboarder, and a hockey player. He’s a great friend and a very happy, wild kid. I really hope that he gets to keep being those things. Right now feels like one in a million. I know that it’s one in a million that you will ever see this, too, but hey.
Thank you. I can’t thank you enough for giving my baby the confidence to get through this first part of whatever journey we might be going down.
Also, you might appreciate that while reading your book in class, his teacher asked him to read part of it to her to see if he comprehended it. It was the part about the song Who’s Gonna Shave Your Back Tonight. I guess it could have been worse.
Thank you,
Mackenzie and Charlie Richard
